Friday Fantasy Cheat Sheet – Rd. 5

Get your round five selection info, trade tips, rookie rankings, captains picks and more.

Welcome to a new article for DT Talk this season; the Friday Fantasy Cheat Sheet.

Ben of the @BeaufortBeaus takes a look at the most popular trades of Round 5 so far.

Most Traded In

Swapping the injured Jeremy Howe to fellow-Pie Brayden Maynard is the most popular trade of the week but it’s a wait-and-see how Collingwood’s backline readjusts. I’ve also flagged Lachie Neale because Port Adelaide are the toughest team to score against and surely he’ll cop a tag.

On the other hand, Brandon Parfitt is massively under-priced if he can stay healthy and keep up his massive tackle numbers. Jy Simpkin and Marc Pittonet both featured in this list last week but are still excellent picks.

  1. Brayden Maynard (DEF, $651,000) 👀
  2. Hayden Young (DEF, $313,000)
  3. Brandon Parfitt (MID/FWD, $604,000) 👍
  4. Tristan Xerri (RUCK, $182,000)
  5. Marc Pittonet (RUCK, $431,000) 👍
  6. Caleb Serong (MID, $282,000)
  7. Jy Simpkin (MID/FWD, $629,000) 👍
  8. Aidan Corr (DEF, $368,000) 👀
  9. Michael Hibberd (MID, $197,000)
  10. Lachie Neale (MID, $901,000) 🚩

Most Traded Out

Andrew Brayshaw seems to appear on this list every week, but it’s worth holding this time because Nat Fyfe is injured and Adelaide are the easiest team to score against. It’s a wait-and-see whether dropping Stephen Coniglio is the right call because there’s every chance the GWS captain bounces back, and Marlion Pickett’s on the extended bench so reverse that trade if he’s named at 5pm.

Numbers 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 9, 10 on this list are easy outs due to injury or suspension.

  1. Jeremy Howe (DEF, $638,000) 👍
  2. Jarrod Brander (DEF/FWD, $354,000) 👍
  3. Sam Naismith (RUCK, $368,000) 👍
  4. Stephen Coniglio (MID, $721,000) 👀
  5. Nat Fyfe (MID, $755,000) 👍
  6. Marlion Pickett (MID, $255,000) 👀
  7. Andrew Brayshaw (MID/FWD, $511,000) 👎
  8. Steele Sidebottom (MID, $800,000) 👍
  9. Harley Bennell (MID, $267,000) 👍
  10. Dylan Roberton (DEF, $317,000) 👍

Trade Targets

  1. Caleb Serong, MID, $282K
  2. Ned McHenry, MID, $209K
  3. Mitchell Hibberd, MID, $197K
  4. Jack Mahoney, MID/FWD, $206K
  5. Shane McAdam, FWD, $177K

This week’s No. 1 target doesn’t come cheap, but Caleb Serong is the best starting rookie up for grabs at the moment. Most of the popular cash cows are out of an affordable price range, but Serong is worth every penny given his junior reputation and his performance on debut last week. Ned McHenry and Mitchell Hibberd are risky options to play on your field, but given McHenry’s pending FWD DPP, he just outranks the new Bomber. Last weekend, Jack Mahoney didn’t get to show off his fantasy wares, but I have faith he’ll be better off this weekend, with Shane McAdam rounding out the top-5. The basement Crows forward might not hold onto a spot in the 22, but if he does I expect him to nearly double his scoring output. Hopefully.

The line for last night’s game was firm at 96 and only a few achieved this difficult task. Jack Steele (110) and Marshall (99) got the job done and if you were lucky enough to have these uniques in your team then lock away the score right now. Docherty was a highly sort after option and although he scored 80 (BCV:100) it isn’t enough considering the crew we have coming up.

  1. Brodie Grundy
  2. Max Gawn
  3. Lachie Neale
  4. Jake Lloyd
  5. Taylor Adams
  6. Bachar Houli
  7. Todd Goldstein
  8. Patrick Dangerfield
  9. Josh Kelly
  10. Tom Mitchell

Torn between Crisp, Weller and Haynes?

Hey mate,
I really like all of those options. Currently Crisp and Weller are in the Rollin’ 22 and Haynes is knocking on the door. Interestingly Maynard is currently D8 in the rollin’ based on form and he is the most popular replacement for the injured Howe.

Weller: Great role, tough game this week, can the Suns remain this competitive and maintain scoring?

Haynes: Gun, plenty of marks, Giants about to get their act together

Crisp: Personally I think Crisp is going to be a big beneficiary of Howe being out as I think he will see a spike in rebound possessions. He is my pick.

Anyone know what’s up with Roberton? I thought he’d be a walk up start, but I never even see him listed as an emergency. I know I’ll trade him out and a week later he’ll be back in the team :\

    July 3, 2020 at 4:18 pm

    Anyone know anything about Brander?

I can move him to Young with 167k in the WarneChest or hold him and trade out Den Davis at as Utility for Serong..

I say this every year but oh well here goes.
DPP upgrades are terrible/ good for mug punters / they make bad selections good.
Adam Childs is already anticipating new listings. Oh boy.

I’ve gone conservative in my old age:
    T.Brown to Serong
    Brander to H.Young
Naismith to Xerri (but I don’t think he’s much good)

I didn’t trust Maynard; and Cogs and A.Brayshaw get another week.

I’ll leave bold moves for another day, if the season is still going by then…

What a shocking round for me so far:

Traded out a massive ton from Greenwood, and brought in an underwhelming Hunter Clark :(

Then cops the 0 and 1 from Rowell & Bailey Smith.

Isn’t hindsight a bi#$@? Brought in Lyons this round, who’s going well so far, but imagine the 200+ score difference I’d have if I traded out Rowell instead of Greenwood!

    • J

      July 4, 2020 at 8:44 pm

What makes this annoyingly worse is that main league opponent doesn’t have Rowell, but has Tim English!

      Genius or kissed?

    • Harry

      July 4, 2020 at 9:03 pm

I’m feeling you bro, bought in Clark as well but not sure if he tagged Cripps or not but he was named on the ball as well, for a guy who pretty much ran bigger distances than anyone else in tracker his poor was score. Have smith and Rowell as well and fielded Hibberd as Merrett was suspended. I also want to get rid of rosy rozee.

    • Andy

      July 4, 2020 at 10:16 pm

Yep I’ve got Rowell and Smith as well. I hope both don’t have to go next week.

    • Squid

      July 5, 2020 at 12:57 pm

Smith Rowell and hanners (who was actually going ok till injury) for me so far, suspect Rowell will be out long term but Smith should be OK pending test. Still given the season so far can’t complain, others also seem worse off because from what I can tell barring further disasters I should improve ranking.

    • J

      July 5, 2020 at 2:42 pm

Oh the salt continues to be rubbed into the wound….and deeply.
That mo@#$% fu@#$% Brayshaw now also decides to copy Greenwood and get his best score of the season, the week I trade him out as well.

  19. Maggie

    July 5, 2020 at 2:32 pm

Pleased I held Brayshaw, at this stage – hope it is a positive end of game outcome. Need some good scores with Rowell and Smith injuries..

  20. Maggie

    July 5, 2020 at 3:09 pm

Feel for you J. I could have easily traded Brayshaw – but pleased I didn’t!!

    • Andy

      July 5, 2020 at 4:00 pm

Late decision for me to hold Brayshaw and Cogs. 1 out of 2 so far. Dusty is playing for his life in my team.

        July 5, 2020 at 4:07 pm

        Same here re Dusty.
