Roy’s Trade Talk: Rd 13

The first and what was supposed to be easiest of the bye rounds is past and its time to navigate the final two rounds. Here a few blokes that are with considering, both over the next two weeks and long term.

Trade Targets: Price, BE, Score 

• Mason Redman (DEF, $212,000) -14, 92. After a long time between drinks, Redman returned to the top level and it looks like he will be hanging around a while after an impressive performance prior to his bye where he had 24 touches and seven marks.
• Joel Smith (DEF/MID, $199,000) -9, 80 Played a great game against the Pies prior to his bye and couple with the fact Jake Lever is done for the season, his job security looks great. He had a well rounded game of 16 possessions, six tackles and five marks making him a high priority cash cow for under $200.

• Josh Kelly (MID, $739,000) 94, 166 will be a popular trade target this week, both as an upgrade and a replacement for Jack Macrae following his round 12 bye. After easing back from a long layoff with scores of 93 and 96, he went bang with a thumping 166 from 40 possessions, eight marks, seven tackles and two goals. The groin issue remains a concern, but he is a great pick this week.
• Elliot Yeo (MID, $682,000) 93, 136 has fast become a must have defender, especially in the absence of Rory Laird leading out back lines. Playing as a midfielder, Yeo is having an awesome year averaging 101 which has bumped lately on the back of a 107 average in his last five. He is coming off a thumping game against the Swans with 29 touches, eight tackles and two goals.
• Tom Phillips (MID, $685,000) 108, 61 is coming off a quiet game where he was tagged and I doubt that will be an issue again this year so I think he is a great unique pick given he is owned by just 2% of the competition. Prior to his last game he was on a hot streak of scores with 143, 120, 121, 114 and 128 in games that went effected by injury. He has games against the Blues and Suns in his next two and should be massive.

• Chad Wingard (MID/FWD, $514,000) 32, 124 remains a bargain of the competition given his move back to the midfield. He showed his 121 was no fluke against the Tigers by backing it up against the Bulldogs with 124 from 30 possessions, three marks and eight tackles. He remains a bargain despite his $45K price increase this week.
