Inside the Numbers โ€“ Round 10

Pete is looking back to look forward.

With the Bye weeks ascending quickly on us trade decisions now are absolutely critical, not only should we be highly focused on getting through the next few weeks we should also be keeping an eye on the remainder of the season.

This week we will have a look at the Top 10 AFL Fantasy average players from last year between Rounds 12-23, the home stretch is just about to begin and preparation will be the key to success.

2017 Top 10 AFL Fantasy Rounds 12-23

Tom Mitchell averaged 126.1pts from his last 11 games of the 2017 H&A season, he scored 100pts or more in 81.8% of games & 120pts or more in 63.6% of games.

There are some coaches that donโ€™t have Mitchell, he should be a priority. There should also be plenty of Captain opportunities.

Patrick Dangerfield averaged 125.2pts from his final 10 games of the 2017 H&A season, he scored 100pts or more in 90.0% of games & 120pts or more in 60.0% of games.

Dangerfield hasnโ€™t exceeded 120pts in any game this year after a delayed start with a hamstring injury, it is questionable how much the Cats will push him in the 2nd half of the year with an eye on a potential Finals spot.

Gary Ablett averaged 121.6pts from his final 5 games of the 2017 H&A season, he scored 100pts or more in 60.0% of games & 120pts or more in 60.0% of games.

Injuries are starting to ruin the end of a great career for Ablett, asking him to sit in your fantasy team for the 2nd half of the year could be a big ask. He might be a very good POD at the late stages of the season, but you need solid back-up.

Sam Docherty averaged 117.3pts from his final 12 games of the 2017 H&A season, he scored 100pts or more in 66.7% of games & 120pts or more in 50.0% of games.

Docherty is no use to us out with an ACL injury for the entire 2018 season, this is an honourable mention to show us what we are all missing out on down back.

Bryce Gibbs averaged 113.0pts from his final 12 games of the 2017 H&A season, he scored 100pts or more in 75.0% of games & 120pts or more in 25.0% of games.

Gibbs has struggled to hit his ceiling games in recent weeks & that is likely due to the absence of Sloane & the Crouch Brothers, hopefully the core premium Adelaide midfield group will be back together soon.

Matt Crouch averaged 111.4pts from his final 11 games of the 2017 H&A season, he scored 100pts or more in 72.7% of games & 120pts or more in 27.3% of games.

Matt Crouch has had an injury interrupted season so far due to Hamstring issues, hopefully that is all behind him now and he can get back to putting up some obscene numbers.

Dayne Zorko averaged 111.1pts from his final 11 games of the 2017 H&A season, he scored 100pts or more in 63.6% of games & 120pts or more in 45.5% of games.

Zorko has averaged 133.8pts from his last 4 games, if can keep getting through the tags he is a great point of difference to finish off the season with.

Josh Kelly averaged 111.1pts from his final 10 games of the 2017 H&A season, he scored 100pts or more in 70.0% of games & 120pts or more in 30.0% of games.

Kelly looked good on his return to footy last week but only scored 93pts, he could the one to target after the Giants Round 13 Bye.

Zach Merrett averaged 110.7pts from his final 10 games of the 2017 H&A season, he scored 100pts or more in 50.0% of games & 120pts or more in 40.0% of games.

Merrett has scored 100pts or more in only 1 of his last 4 games, it is clearly worth monitoring his 2 games prior to the Essendon Bye.

Taylor Adams averaged 110.6pts from his final 12 games of the 2017 H&A season, he scored 100pts or more in 66.7% of games & 120pts or more in 41.7% of games.

Adams has been back for 4 weeks now exceeding 100pts in only 1 game, Phillips has to be a concern when selecting Adams.
