It certainly wasn’t the way we expected to celebrate the end of the byes with big names dropping like flies on Thursday, Friday, oh and Saturday and Sunday! But either way, it was certainly good to have a full list of teams playing, even at the expense of one trade per week.
Trade out?
Dan Butler- Should have been done weeks about, no ability to score.
Toby Nankervis – Another tough match up this week, thanks and goodbye.
Jake Barrett– Had a shocker, but still worth enough to be part of a significant upgrade.
Tom Stewart – Unfortunately injured after really finding his feet lately.
Caleb Marchbank– Contender for ROY, but plenty of value in the backs to upgrade to.
Bargain Cows:
Sean Darcy (RUC, $199,000) BE: 45 – 40 hit outs and an impressive 80.
Alex Witherden (DEF/MID, $225,000) BE: 14 – Looked the best of the Lions kids and got open for plenty of marks.
Big Dawg:
Sam Docherty (DEF, $713,000) So far out of reach for non owners it is ridiculous, but he still needs to be mentioned because he is probably the most important player to own, given he is a defender and has the scoring of an elite premium. He has a five round average of 133 and a three game average of 139 which is nuts. If you can somehow get him without ruining your team by selling the farm, do it.
Steele Sidebottom (MID, $642,000) is officially on fire! He has a five round average of 126 which would have to indicate career best form and the crime here is that only 2% of the competition are enjoying it. He has a great run coming up with games against the Hawks, Bombers, Suns and Eagles where he should continue to rack up.
Click here to subscribe on iTunes. (Please leave a rating and review to help us move up the charts).
Value Premium:
Robbie Gray (FWD, $430,000) is once again great value for a bloke called Robbie Gray! He has finally put a couple of nice games together with scores of 117 and 99 ahead of a game at home against the Tigers. I certainly don’t think this is an indication that he is a shadow of what he has been in the past as he is relying on goals to score but for this price, he is still a good pick.
Bernie Vince (DEF/MID, $408,000) has had a shocking season by his standards, averaging just 77 and dropping $146,000 from his opening price. In the absence of Nathan Jones last week (I might be grasping at straws there) he had his second 100 and highest score of the year with 113 from 27 touches, eight marks and five tackles. He has a break-even of just 56.
DPP:
Sam Menegola (FWD/MID, $523,000) Apart from a blemish in round 13 with 65, Menegola has a low score of 86 for the year while scoring as high as 124 and 133. He scored 124 last week with an awesome game including 22 touches, eight marks, nine tackle and a goal. With Joel Selwood questionable this week, he might need to step up again.
Kobe Stevens (FWD/MID, $517,000) is coming off a great score of 115 where his tackling pressure was phenomenal. He has a five round average of 91 but what I like most is his ability to hit triple figures, doing so in four out of his seven games.
Isaac Heeney (FWD/MID, $550,000) is someone I seen to talk about every week, but given he is only owned by 28% of the competition, it seems I need to keep talking about it. The kid is an absolute superstar with a three round average of 115 and a break even of 75.
As always, use the comment to discuss your trade ideas in the comments, I’m currently:

Exact 3 and 5 round averages, yet Nanks BE is 26 higher. Also feel like Nank is trailing off as season goes on, while Barrett could ton any given week.

How much do you value Nank’s DPP status? With a lack of cheap, decent ruck bench options (ie rookies with a bit of job security) I’m hanging onto him for a while. I don’t want to have to buy a ruckman just because one of my 2×premos has a stomach bug or is ‘managed’
Mike

Barrett to Sheed this week and go Nank to Gawn next week,
OR
Go Nank to Grundy this week and keep Barrett for another week?
Henry
June 27, 2017 at 1:02 pm
I like your second trades. Nank will lose money this week. Barrett may not. But both options are good.
Moose
June 27, 2017 at 4:13 pm
First option. Gawn has a high BE, and Mason Cox is being talked up again at Collingwood, and if he plays, could affect Grundy’s scoring.
Henry
June 27, 2017 at 1:00 pm
Who to get rid of first: Marchbank or Nank (hopefully with the other out next week).
At present I am thinking Out Marchbank & Beams; In Witherden & Treloar (or should it be Sidey)?
antongus1
June 27, 2017 at 1:01 pm
Marchbank > Witherdan locked
What other trade should I do?
a) Nank -> Gawn (Have Grundy, Nank was R2)
OR
b) Barrett > Greene (Already have Yeo, Macrae, Heeney, Menegola)
OR
c) Barrett > Gawn (Nank to F5 with Yeo, Macrae, Heeney, Menegola, H.Greenwood)
Will get either Greene/Gawn this week and the other one next week.
Lumma
June 27, 2017 at 3:15 pm
I’d wait on Gawn. Price still dropping.
Ash
June 28, 2017 at 5:46 pm
I’d go Barrett to Greene, Gawn’s price will likely drop more than Nank’s so if you’re set on Gawn then can easily grab him next week. Greene’s price is only gonna go up

I guess Nank -> Gawn doesn’t really matter too much with breakevens since both will lose $ next week so no point waiting for Gawns price to drop

Big question – Menegola or Lloyd??
Sydney has MEL (hard) then GC (easy) then GWS (hard) then STK (even) with 3 out of the 4 in Sydney
Geelong has GWS (hard) then BRI (easy) then HAW (easy) then ADE (hard) with 0 out of the 4 in Geelong
I’ll probably go Menegola because I’m a sucker for players who tackle…
King Fisha
June 27, 2017 at 1:37 pm
Llyod 100% more marks and kicks
Plugger
June 27, 2017 at 4:04 pm
Well, Menegola is a POD, wheras Lloyd is not and that could be significant depending on your needs. I have Lloyd but want Menegola and, from that information, you can appreciate who I favoured of the two, initially. But, in the run home a reliable POD could be invaluable and except for that outlying 65, Menogola has been just as reliable as Lloyd (you would ignore Lloyd’s KO’ed 2).
I pay less attention to the tackles (but it does argue ‘determined to contribute’), but Menegola’s just on a 100 average, his high reliability, and his being a POD, make his case very sound (irrespective of how you regard Lloyd – but I would say the same for Lloyd, irrespective of how you regard Menegola!).
Can’t make a bad choice between those two, I would think. All the best.
Deanos Chumps
June 27, 2017 at 9:44 pm
Let me give you another opinion to mull over. Look at Menegola’s scores since Scooter started steeling his midfield time. Ignore last week because J Selwood went down early. I just cant see Menegola keeping up a 100 ave. Its going to be lower IMO. I’m thinking 90-95 at best. Possibly 87-93 ish.

44k
D: Adams, Laird, Newnes, Marchbank, Stewart, Newman (L Ryan, VWillis)
M: Dangerfield, Titchell, Zerrett, Dusty, Ablett, JPK, MMurphy, SSelwood, (Mountford, Cousins)
R: Stef, Grundy, (S. Darcy, Cameron)
F: Dahlhaus, Yeo, Heeney, Sheed, Barrett, Greenwood (C.Brown, Barlow)
So many things to fix up but suffered the carnage of last minute issues last week.
– Barlow, Stewart, VWillis are injured.
– Barrett and Marchbank are starting to lose value.
Who should be my priority outs and any suggestions who to go to?
King Fisha
June 27, 2017 at 1:42 pm
Barlow to Macrae. Barret to Bench. Stewart to Bernie Vince. (he’s cheap, with Jones out for another 3 weeks should get some more points) Also Vince is a name to have at least better than Stewart/Marchbank. You also want Llyod in your backline ASAP. Should be around 520 thousand next week
jordricer
June 27, 2017 at 1:57 pm
Going Barlow to Macrae leaves me about 30k short of Stewart to Vince.
Robbo
June 27, 2017 at 2:19 pm
Go Stewart to Witherden & Barrett to Macrae
Next week swap Barlow to another fwd to complete your forward line and you should most likely still have enough to upgrade Marchbank to Lloyd if marchbank doesn’t lose too much this week
Week after that downgrade greenwood and upgrade Witherden who would have hopefully made you 50-60k to complete your team
Robbo
June 27, 2017 at 2:22 pm
Sorry my mistake, for some reason i thought Stewart to Witherden got you 200k so you won’t be able to do the Lloyd upgrade next week. In that case i would downgrade EVW to a 150k rook to make cash for it the week after

Probably Greene in my opinion as much as I hate the kid, the stats don’t lie, he’s racking up decent scores whilst still having shocking goal kicking accuracy, imagine if he starts putting a few through the goals. Followed closely behind by sheed. Sheed is still pretty good value

Had my trades ready to go with Treloar/Witherden in for Newman/Hannan and 18k, but after reading this thinking I might go Newman/Hannan > Vince/Gray and 33k and the risk vs reward. YOLO:)
Alan
June 27, 2017 at 2:30 pm
Wait.. Hold the phone……. You’re picking Vince/Gray over Treloar/Witherden??
Vince has 1 score over 67 in his last 6 games!!
Gray has only topped 99 against FREO, CARLTON, BRISBANE & Collingwood, all in decent size wins.. Next 2 against Richmond & Eagles, I can’t see him cracking 75.. Stats suggest he needs about 6 shots to get a passable score
Treloar is a set and forget guy, the other 2 you’ll be trading out in a few weeks
The Cricket

that’s too much risk vs reward. I could understand getting one of those but even then I wouldn’t want to. Treloar and Witherden is by far the better option but there is a chance vince and gray could turn out well but you could have to trade both of them instead

June 27, 2017 at 2:25 pm
Anyone considering Matt White or Darcy Tucker this week?
Plugger
June 27, 2017 at 3:25 pm
Was there something in Tucker’s 99 that you saw that you think he will carry into the coming weeks? Otherwise, imo, too much coin for what he offers on recent form which has been well below that 99.
White could be of interest, though. Better priced than Tucker, better BE, and you might expect a better average from here on in, from him, and more of a price rise, too, I think.
I have Otten to trade out, and White could be a useful target if I want a down grade, so I will give him some thought (if I don’t get Witherden). If you think White will averages 70+ over the next 4 weeks he should increase in value circa 70K+. With slim pickings in cash building from other targets, he could be a contributor – but, likewise Witherden. Both should have reasonable short term JS, though White’s would be more relaible.

Hey guys, need some help determining which is the best trade option!
I like option one because it brings in two decent players. Birchall is a risky move but underpriced. Option two is very tempting cause I really want Zorko in my team and option three is also tempting cause Treloar is value at the moment. What would you guys do?
Option 1.
Dayne Beams –> Bontempelli
Marchbank –> Grant Birchall (under-priced and back from injury, looking good)
Option 2
Marchbank -> A. Witherden
D. Beams -> Zorko
Option 3.
Marchbank -> A. Witherden
D. Beams -> A. Treloar
Option 4.
Marchbank -> A. Witherden
D. Beams -> G. Ablett (Too risky cause he won’t play every game and randomly gets rested/ruled out?)
Travis
June 27, 2017 at 7:51 pm
If your in contention with your overall ranking I’d go with witherden and treloar. Treloar will be a keeper where as Bont and birch, as good options they are, will require another trade later in the season for another upgrade. Zorko will plummet in price for a couple weeks so you can wait on him, and seems like you answered your own question on gaz, fair call. Hope this helped

I would look to jump off Dan Butler. Priced at $271K with a BE of 55 so won’t earn you too much more money. Say you downgrade to Jono Beech (example) that gives you 77K which is decent money to go towards upgrading. Stewart is injured and won’t play, therefore, his price won’t go down.

With Salem and Stewart out need replacements. Thinking:

Other defenders are Doch, Laird, Newman and Marchbank – rookies on bench
