Friday Fantasy Fill Up – Rd. 14

Grab a knock off froth and get set for round 14.

Welcome to a Friday arvo column that hopefully helps you get set for the weekend ahead. I’ll be looking at the key points/questions that have popped up during the week with some quick fire opinions, plus a look at how the mighty Warne Dawgs are looking ahead of the coming round.

Don’t miss:

Shocking Thursday night scores

What a shitful start to R14! Connor Rozee (106) did his thing, but Zak Butters (77), Mitch Duncan (74) and Tom Stewart (66) as the other Fantasy relevant names didn’t give us enough.

It was the first time I was ok with not owning Butters for the last couple of months… maybe he can get himself cheaper for me to get in?!

Patrick Dangerfield (66) ended up in hospital with a rib issue while Tanner Bruhn (49) was looking alright before being subbed with a shoulder issue. Josh Sinn (14) was subbed for the Power.

Round 14 trading (and beyond)

Broken record … trade out rookies or mid-pricers who have a bye (or one upcoming) to players coming off the bye.

Yada, yada… make sure you’re trying to get more than the bare 18 on field, especially if there are a few guys who bust out those 50 scores – premiums included – so that you can drop some off.

Without too much waffling this week (I’ve got school reports to write), my ‘premium’ shopping list taking into account price, position, what I think they can do for the rest of the year, chance of being towards the top of their line, etc, looks like this.

  1. Josh Dunkley
  2. Rowan Marshall
  3. Andrew Brayshaw
  4. Jack Sinclair
  5. Lachie Neale
  6. Brad Crouch
  7. Errol Gulden
  8. Caleb Serong
  9. Noah Anderson
  10. Chad Warner

I would’ve had Tom Stewart in there and before the news on Jack Steele’s knee issues, he would’ve made the list. I still like him, but couldn’t go into buying him with the soreness that he has. Serong is probably in the boat too. Hayden Young and Luke Ryan are knocking on the door, but I don’t love them.

There aren’t many in the mid-priced bracket coming off the byes that I would like to have a look at this week. I know Roy is keen on Nasiah Wanganeed-Milera, but I’m not so sure. Maybe you could look at Matthew Johnson or Bailey Humphrey (in that order) if you missed them, but I’d be more inclined to save the cash on the ‘rookie’ priced guys.

Who I like in order – taking into account job security, price, etc:

  1. Deven Robertson – job security has increased, can score.
  2. Marcus Windhager – named on the ball, should get that 30% CBA mid-clock.
  3. Angus Sheldrick – Parker returns and holds, Mills back next week will be true test.
  4. Kai Lohmann – does he take Gunston’s spot?
  5. Jack Buller – only needed one game in magoos (5 goals, 110 pts), but Buddy/Heeney back would knock him out you’d think.

You could consider Jaspa Fletcher, but I think you can wait on him.

Keep an eye on…

Trying to keep an eye on next week’s trades is a big part of Fantasy, especially through the byes and into the back half of the season as we will be doing more sideways / creative trades.

We’ll have Clayton Oliver back as a premium midfield option, while Callum Mills will be dropping bulk coin and could be an option. Some cheap defenders will be coming through in Christian Salem and Elliot Yeo for people who want to have a crack at some lower-priced players. Don’t forget about Darcy Cameron next week with that RUC/FWD status.

Reason for this is – as we do during the byes – make sure you have an eye on what your team will look like coming out of the byes. Where do you have opportunity to get better players in? Which players are easier to move? Etc. Even simply, don’t get yourself 7 premium defenders or forwards for the sake of the extra body on field this week or next. Get a plan!

Join our Knockout competition

Weve had this running on our Patreon this year and it’s down to the final 16!

It has been a lot of fun having the eliminator-style game back, so we thought we would have a crack at another one post-byes with thanks to our mate Jaiden.

All you have to do is join our league (code: SEKHWV6P) and if you are in the top 512 scores for the four bye rounds (total points), you will make it into the knockout comp that will start in round 16.

Click here for some more details on how it will work.

Warne Dawgs – Round 14

Daniel Rich was a disaster last week. For those who didn’t understand the move, I’m sorry… it was a massive risk (no one said it wasn’t), and it went spectacularly bad. I’ve learned a lot from it, so save your cockhead opinions! Haha. Oh well – right that wrong this week with Sinclair in from Rich, Neale comes in from Worpel who has done his job as a mid-pricer and Ginbey is the rookie who goes to fund the moves. Only have 19 on field this week (looping Sheldrick). Catch the video for some more commentary on what I am thinking.

ROUND 14 TRADES

James Worpel > Lachie Neale
Daniel Rich > Jack Sinclair
Reuben Ginbey > Angus Sheldrick
Cash left: $58,000

ROUND 14 CAPTAINS
