Friday Fantasy Fill Up – Rd. 12

Grab a knock off froth and get set for round 12.

Welcome to a Friday arvo column that hopefully helps you get set for the weekend ahead. I’ll be looking at the key points/questions that have popped up during the week with some quick fire opinions, plus a look at how the mighty Warne Dawgs are looking ahead of the coming round.

Don’t miss:

Round 12 trading (and beyond)

Alright – let’s get to the nitty gritty. Unfortunately I am getting very time poor on Fridays (I had great intentions for this column, but my work schedule has changed meaning I’ve lost a few hours of my week … so this is a rushed job!).

Basic bye rules should be to trade out players on a bye, for those who have had their bye. Those players that we should be trading out, preferably, are rookies who have made their coin or mid-pricers you can thank for their services.

That’s a perfect world… BUT also a world AFTER this week.

What are we looking at? No matter who we bring in, they’ve got a bye coming up.

If you’ve got Sean Darcy, it’s a must-trade for me. Yep, you could hold and wait for more info, but I would be shipping him off not to use the cash and the premium selection that would come from the move. Tim English is who most would want, but it’s tough buying in at that price. Not only for the cash from Darcy, but the whole paying top-dollar when his numbers probably don’t warrant that pricetag is an issue for me in the way I play the game.

Jarrod Witts, for the bye, is a solid option to try to run until you can get English. Darcy Cameron and Kieren Briggs are players coaches are looking at that offer some value. I’m not exactly sure where I would land there. Cameron is more the ‘keeper’ and less risk, but the Briggs play would be the better short-term play.

Whether you trade or hold James Sicily is another big question. My gut feel is to flick him to another premium. Someone made a good comment that while he is only missing one game outside of the bye we knew he would be missing, his R13 score might be less relevant with msot teams looking towards fielding their best squad of the four bye rounds then. Something to consider. I’d find it hard to trade him if I was fielding 20 or more. The trade is a big play, though.

I’ll discuss my trades below and in the video, but getting Oisin Mullin is a must IMO. He allows us to either fix a red dot or get some cash (ie. from a Darcy Wilmot) while having the R13 bye. Fingers crossed he’s there for us for R14-15. One thing to take note of planning is that hopefully you’re not ruining things to have him as D6 at R16. That wouldn’t be an ideal thing…

Prioritise who you are moving on. Wilmot and Mattaes Philliopou are the rookies I’ll be flicking this week. Some are going with Will Ashcroft. I’m not against it, but I have a crap team that will probably need him for his capacity to score. The Gabba thing might be real, but he has a nice run of games coming up regardless.

Red dots can go this week. Maybe less important in the next three rounds.

Some are looking at trading in a R12 bye player. It’s definitely something you can consider. If you’re rocking 21, I think you can do that… it will obviously set you up for future bye rounds. I wouldn’t buy into a rookie on a bye (not that there really are any), but anything can happen in that fortnight between games.

Get a bit of a plan of who you want to target off the bye. The obvious names are Andrew Brayshaw, Caleb Serong… Jack Steele (hopefully the break will do him good), Jack Sinclair… Josh Dunkley, Lachie Neale… Errol Gulden, Chad Warner. Round 12 bye players aren’t massively attractive. In a way, I wish I waited on getting Brayshaw in.

Ahh.. I have run out of time (school pick up awaits). Watch the video!

Mid-season Draftees added to the game

The players taken in Wednesda night’s mid-season draft have been added to the game. Prices and positions as below. The best Fantasy player of the lot is Mitchell Hardie who was averaging 109 points from his 7 SANFL games. Going to Geelong, we probably won’t see him. Ryan Maric might be a chance for the Eagles at some point.

Ryan Maric WCE FWD $200,000
Robert Hansen Jnr NM FWD $200,000
Clay Tucker HAW RUC $200,000
Matthew Coulthard RICH FWD $200,000
Harry Arnold SYD DEF $200,000
Mitchell Hardie GEEL MID $200,000
Ethan Stanley FREM MID/FWD $200,000

Weve had this running on our Patreon this year and it’s down to the final 32!

It has been a lot of fun having the eliminator-style game back, so we thought we would have a crack at another one post-byes with thanks to our mate Jaiden.

Warne Dawgs – Round 12

Oh boy. I am lucky I don’t have any forced injury/suspension trades… and I have scraped to 20 players this week with trading out three blue dots for three players all with the R13 bye. Hopefully this sets me up. Defintitely OK with the Mullin and Humphrey moves. I’m paying a bit more than I would like for the latter, but he should be a decent play on BE and his role. I don’t love the Stocker to Rowell move. But, getting rid of Stocker who isn’t a keeper and can be moved on is probably the most logical play for me. Rowell could ge me through the byes, but wouldn’t necessarily be someone I would really want at R16. But, he could surprise me… fingers crossed he can continue his inside/outside game that is seeing him enjoy a spike in Fantasy numbers.
