It will be the last time we have 3 Trades in a week to work with, setting your team up for the run home is now more important than ever before. There are only 6 weeks remaining in the AFL Fantasy League season, finding POD’s at this time of the year can make all the difference to your Ladder finish position.
For those targeting overall ranking hitting optimal scores for the remaining 10 games is obviously a priority, the time has come to make calculated and smart decisions.
During the Bye weeks we will take a look at each of the 18 AFL Clubs with a view to finding a relevant player that is under-priced or significantly improved compared to the 2017 H&A season. (Part 2 Gold Coast-Port Adelaide)
GOLD COAST
Tom Lynch FWD $410K 65.3 AVE (2017 AVE: 80.3) BE 72
There arenβt too many options at the Suns to assist a fantasy team post the Bye weeks so any player selected does represent high risk, Tom Lynch is averaging 15.0pts less than last year and is $156K below his 2018 starting price. Lynch is value but is definitely a high risk option.
GWS GIANTS
Josh Kelly MID $739K 112.7 AVE (2017 AVE: 112.9) BE 94
Kelly is going to be a popular target especially for those selling their position on Jack Macrae, Kelly has scored 100pts or more in 50.0% of games this season well short of the 75.0% last season. The short term prospects (opponents) for Kelly are good, keeping Week 1 AFL Fantasy Finals in mind the Giants play Carlton in Round 20.
HAWTHORN
James Sicily DEF/FWD 618K 93.9 AVE (2017: 74.3) BE 97
Apart from Tom Mitchell the next player of interest at the Hawks should be Sicily, he has quietly averaged 100.0pts from his last 7 games. Owning Sicily can be quite frustrating but targeting him this week may be an instant positive against Gold Coast, he is the perfect D5/6 option.
MELBOURNE
Jack Viney MID 579K 81.5 AVE (2017 AVE: 90.7) BE 97)
Most wonβt remember Viney averaged 101.2pts in 2016 so there is a little value in targeting him for the run home, be aware of his injury history and the development of Oliver since the start of the 2017 season. Viney returned from injury in Round 9 and should be fresh off the Bye, he did have a decent ceiling in 2016 but whether he can hit those heights again in 2018 remains to be seen.
NTH MELBOURNE
Shaun Higgins MD $641K 94.5 AVE (2017 AVE: 94.4) BE 70
Many wonβt even bother to look at the Kangaroos from a fantasy perspective but the Higgins option should be worth investigating, he has averaged 102.2pts from his last 6 games which includes averaging 121.0pts from his last 2 games. One of the better PODβs going around.
PORT ADELAIDE
Chad Wingard MID/FWD 514K 74.7 (2017 AVE: 92.2) BE 32
A role change out of the forward line to across half back in the last 2 weeks has seen the numbers spike significantly for Wingard, he averaged 64.1pts from his opening 9 games of the season and 122.5pts from his last 2 games. Wingard was a popular trade target last week and will be again for Round 14, he is a definite option if he maintains his current role.
