Check out how I went this week. I know, I know… “Thanks V8″. H ah ha. I’ve been hearing it everywhere. “Oh you’re the best Calvin” people would yell at my as I walked into shops and stuff… it’s just been mad! Swanny was awesome for 161 and Boyd was sicko for his 121. Ablett was ok (108) and my Saint lads, Montagna and Goodard were wicked with there 135 and 122.

Righteo – thanks for coming… but this week I am having a week off. Why? Cause I was good last week in my picks and… Cause I have sh*tloads of stuff to do and believe it or not, but this isn’t my full time job. So this week, Calvin’s Captains will look very different.

I Need Your Help

Cut and copy this little thing here into the comments and lets see how many players we can get covered. Then, on Thursday, I will update my post and list my top 5, based on what has been written. A poll will then be up for people to vote on as well. But lets start by collecting sh*t up ok.

I’ll start it off with my man, who was just amazing last week. Dane Swan.

Vs: Port Adelaide @ AAMI
Form: He has averaged 140 in his last 3 games this year with a low score of just 110 in his last 5. He has been on fire!
History: He averages 115 in his last 3 against the Power, with a previous scores of 154, 82, 109. He only played them once last year for that massive 154 and that was in Rd. 10.
Consider This: Swanny only played at AAMI once in 2009 and only had 103 (which is low for him). Kane Cornes tagged Leon Davis last time they played each other, so you’d think he’d be ok. Swanny was tagged by Thomas and then Chad Cornes. 48 touches later it’s safe to say it didn’t work.
Predicted Score: 125

Thanks For Ya Help

Firstly, yeah… thanks for the help this week in pumping out some captain’s advice for everyone. Below is my top 5 based on the research you have done and the follow up stuff I have done. Boyd misses out this week, as I just don’t like him against Carlton as they are the 2nd hardest to score 100+ scores on in the last 3 weeks and the 4th hardest this year. I get scared about things like that. Goddard also misses despite his form, but he averages just 91 Vs Lions and although he’ll be awesome… I just can’t. My top 3 here are pretty much everyones ‘go-to’ guys this time of year and have starting playing really well, with the expection of Gary who has been a little quiet based on what he normally does. Sandi gets a gig though as he will crave Richmond to bits and have a huge score! Anyway, thanks again. And I hope you drill a ripper. The guys in my poll are all worth picking, so call that my top 10 if you like. Oh and I’ll be going with my boy from last week… DANE SWAN!

Barlow for Palmer and gain an extra 160k for another upgrade…thoughts?

  there’s only one reason to want $160k. That is to use that money to buy a player of the calibre of Montagna, Ablett, Boyd, Chappy etc.
  
  So why not just buy one of those players? They’ll all average 20-30 pts a game more than Palmer

  A lot of people are not looking for value in the Barlow trade, I assume that is because they do not have many trades, their team is set or both.
  
  I have 7 trades in hand and am using Barlow $$ to upgrade to Sandilands:
  
  Barlow —> Stanton
  HMac —> Sandi
  
  I will then have 5 trades and, depending on injuries, may be able to use 2 of these for a Webberly downgrade and upgrade another player to a premium. I need to upgrade Grundy or Ballentyne. One sits on my bench and the other gets me a shit score every week.

    I just think maybe Palmer might be a unique with Barlow out. he may get more of the ball and is capable of producing big scores.

huge breadth in players in my eliminator matchup this week:

hodge vs harbrow (i know, who doesn’t have hodge)
gilbert vs shaw
enright vs fisher
carazzo vs phil davis
montagna vs cross
kornes vs gibbs
cox vs rhys stanley (or jesse white if named)
pavlich vs harvey
didak vs hall
cyril vs ballantyne (or lecras, not sure who he starts on field)
buddy vs tippett
my barlow trade vs his

Looks a lot more comfortable than last week’s matchup.. but you never know i guess. that’s the beauty of the eliminator.

concerns for me are buddy & cyril & hodge scoring below average (playing against cats), tippett having a day out vs the insipid eagles, and shaw racking them up vs port’s terrible forward line.

  I personally think Calvin has a nice top 5 this week, my only problem is I have the top 4, think Swan will get the (c) this week.

    well there’s no where else to post eliminator matchups or anything like that. i thought as we’re down to the last 256 teams remaining, people might be interested.
    
    already been a reply, so clearly it IS interesting to some people, sorry to disappoint you. i guess my opponent this week proves that you don’t necessarily have to have a ‘generic’ team to do well
    
    for the record i’ll probably select one of the players we both have as captain, so leaning towards swan over ablett.. but it’s a tough one

      ive got a low ranked guy this week that im guessing has been lucky to stick in there at the start while he has built his team up to awesome now
      lucky with both rocky and pods playing full time tho
      
      absolutely hate the way i did not get rocky because holding onto brown with jaensch cover is losing me 50 points every week to those rocky owners :(

        Wots your opponent this week averaging for the year??? Cause to look at those names wouldn’t have thought he would still be in eliminator……….
        Imagine he has Hille on ruck bench and maybe Brown on fwd bench at a guess.

        Wow, shows you need some luck in the eliminator as well. Amazed he has got that far, come on Edge……..knock him out for the integrety of the comp. Haha.
        U should get over him, but i reckon thats what blokes playing him over the last few weeks have thought!!!!

I’ve got 4 of the top 5 too. Swan might be the man for me considering my opponent doesn’t have him. Would love to throw the C on Chappy or Monty though.

Current team 20600 nine trades last weks score 2216 (with a webberly 0)

Goddard, enrigh,t hodge, fisher, lovet muarry, hunt, webberly (maguire and broughton)

Monty bartel mitchel barlow okeefe ball (stevenson banner)

sand mcevoy (hille warnock)

Gia didak goodes buddy pods rockliff hitchcock (brown and gumby)

My thoughts
Trade maguire out for stijk (WCE) which will net me around 209000 +20600 = 229600 (trade)

Obviously i then need to also trade out barlow (not sure who to pick up but not asking for advice on this part (trade)

I am hoping that roo will play two games before brown comes back and that way his value will go down due to the 10 he scored when he got injured – that way the gap between roo and brown will become closer and form dependent it will be a relativley cheap swap. (trade)

I am wanting to spend a slice of that bank balance on an upgrade for hunt as i see him as a weak link in the backs – will need about 130000 odd to get in scotland or kelly (trade)

And a last trade will be somone in the mids (either ball or mitchell) for boyd or somone like that (trade)

Thats five trades over the next three weeks leaving me with a 4 trades for the final four rounds.

  I wouldn’t trade out Ball tbh unless you are going to get someone with a 120+ average (Swan, Ablett or perhaps Chappy).

    ablett may be an option if he drops 10000 or ball gains 10000 but i want to have some cash left in bank so from rd 16 i can do straight swaps for lti and i dont have to double trade

HAHAHA, Relton Roberts has gone home to the NT. Thank god I got rid of him for Pods.

Another Tiger whose season appears to be over is recruit Relton Roberts, who has returned to the Northern Territory for an indefinite period.

Roberts debuted for Richmond in round one, was suspended by the club for round two after embarking on a late-night drinking session and played again in round three before he was dropped to the VFL.

Hardwick said the 24-year-old had struggled to cope with life in Melbourne and the discipline required at AFL level.

“Relton’s got a young family back in the NT and he has just got to make up his mind whether the AFL is for him. He can play the game, there’s no doubt but he’s got to adhere to our behaviours and standards our playing group has set,” he said.

“He’s found it very hard – the adjustment period has been very tough, especially with his young son Darren back in the NT. We’ll give him some time and a decision will be made in the not too distant future.”

any1 considering bringing in X.Clarke for the likes of shuey/JKT at 168k as a dpp mid/back player
he shouldnt find it hard to keep his spot and if he doesnt get injured he could be a very valuable bench player come finals time

Midfield: Montagna, Dal Santo, Barlow, Selwood, Ball and Judd
Ruck: Sadnilands and Cox
Forwards: Dale Thomas, ROK, Gia, Hall, Rioli, JPod, and Dangerfield (also Grant on the pine)

I have 9 trades this week im looking at Barlow – Ablett then my midfield is set.
also looking at Hall – Pavlich as a straight trade.

not sure on what to do with Harry O and Nason sitting in my backs? i could downgrade one upgrade the other but its a bit risky as Stijrk is the only option. Or downgrade Grant to Griffiths this week and Nason – Kelly/Gilbert/Enright nest week

any other thoughts would be helpful thanks

Interesting comment on X Clarke. My mids are Ablett/Bartel/Swan/Montagna/Barlow/Mitchel, just 5 trades left. I have to trade out Barlow (probably to Simpson so I get some cash), then I want to get a DPP mids/back guy for my bench for the rest of the year, as I’ve just got JKT/Gys on the bench. I was looking at Paul Stewart from Port, but X Clarke is 70K cheaper. But high risk! How many games will he play?

not really fussed about scores, just want the cash in hand?
Monty will probs go up more but might do shit at the Gabba
Swanny has been in Sublime form, will kill Port, go up much in price
ps not really considering getting Ablett coz hes a little c**t

  probaly but i decided against getting him with all this gold coast hype and since he sucks at footy..
  sorry but i must have this rant. he is such a little whining pussy who cries whenever he doesnt get what he wants. wow he can get 35 possies a game in which almost none are hard ball gets and just cheap possies from blinded team mates who seem to pass it to him every possible only to see him handball it another 5 metres on in the chain simply because he is shown as a ‘god like’ character. sure he can do the rare unbelievable thing and shrug tackles but so can everyone else in the game. its just highlighted so often because its gary. he is definetely a great player but look at other superstars like Corey, Chappy, Bartel and Kelly who all do the hard work of the team and barely get any notice apart from Chappy.
  Ablett may be an amazing dter but he is simply not that great RANT OVER

      that easily proves to me that you are another one lost in the haze of abletts skill.
      just like most of the afl, you seem to easily accept that Ablett is the best and there is no one better simply because he wins millions of awards for managing to hand ball and receive it back again 30 times a game.
      i know i have about 95% of the afl community against me but its my opinion that Ablett is just a ball magnet who gets cheap possies who should never be able to be ranked as great as Judd, Hodge, Hayes, Chappy.

        Mate never ever did I say Ablett is the best…I’m merely defending the guy by saying he is a great player. There are many current players that are considered ‘great’ that get cheap possies aswell. You seem to have alot of hatred in little Gaz and that’s fair enough (for whatever reason) but you must realise you can’t pull the wool over rival coaches, players, umpires and fans for too long without being caught out. He is a champion player, anyone who disagress is ignorant, blind or jealous- maybe all 3

    Mate, i don’t have him either. So for me this week it will be Barlow to Montagna or Ablett……..but leaning towards Joey (on the anticipation of him not missing any games).
