Man, those Thursday to Monday rounds of footy drag on, don’t they? Or perhaps that’s just the Melbourne winter… we have a real bye round to deal with this week, and Richmond are back to stream against! Yay!
Anyway, the purpose of this article is to suggest one-week streaming options for draft leagues. Each week, I compile a team of lowly owned players (<40% ownership) that are worthy of a one-week pick-up-and-play, helping you fill any gaps you may have in your starting squads.
But first, let’s see how I went last round:
HITS
Jai Serong (100) – BOOM! What a season of fantasy this guy has put together. Deep league players must be loving this guy.
Logan Evans (89) – The Shoe-in shoe’d in this week, and we might be holding this guy if Kane Farrell misses any more time.
Massimo D’Ambrosio (109) – there’s the BOOM. This guy is just too good to quit right now, so hold until further notice.
Blake Acres (100) – you know you’re having a good week when you nail some BOOM from the likes of Acres. What will people do with him given he has the bye this week? Hmmm…
Pat Lipinksi (87) – he’s got good scores in him, but if you’re desperate to field a full team this week, you can chop him.
MISSES
DONUTS, BABY!
Well look at all those triple figure scores. It’s nice to be back in BOOMtown, with the Shoe-in playing his part too. Adding to that is my total lack of lamentable tips this week, meaning none of y’all should have be punished for following my wisdoms. A tougher bye week is upon, so let’s look ahead.
Here are the lowly owned players that I like as stream targets for Round 14 (ownership % taken from AFL Fantasy):
DEFENDERS
Jaxon Prior (~7%) vs. Melbourne – he has an 88 and a 96 in 2 out of his last 3 games, so he’s taking some scoring form into an easy matchup for his type of defender. The Bombers have shifted a few magnets down back, so it’s hard to know if Prior’s scoring of late is just a flash in the pan or not.
Shadeau Brain (<1%) vs. Richmond – this tip is almost as ridiculous as the subject’s name, but hear me out. In a Brisbane backline missing Zorko, Coleman and Lester, there is ball up for grabs. We love the matchup here, obviously, and if Brisbane can regain their prowess in the kick-mark game they love to play, Brain could be in for a half-decent score. This pick-up is only for the deepest of leagues, of course.
Conor Idun (~22%) vs. St. Kilda – he’s coming off a rest week, but before that, put up a 122. We know the Saints leak points to defenders, so this stream is as sturdy as they come, and even has some BOOM potential. Idun is pencilled in as my Shoe-in of the week!

MIDFIELDERS
Dylan Stephens (~30%) vs. West Coast – West Coast aren’t the fantasy points fridge they were to begin the season, but they’re still good to target when it comes to players of Stephens’ order. I like this stream because Stephens has BOOM potential, with the obvious caveat here being the 66 he scored against the Eagles earlier this season.
Ollie Dempsey (~27%) vs. Gold Coast – he scored a 94 on them in Opening Round, and has the added benefit of being at home this time around.
Xavier Duursma (~11%) vs. Melbourne – he’s find some form in his last 2 games, averaging a tick over 80. Melbourne are a plus matchup for wingers, making the most irrelevant Duursma a fine stream this week.
Harvey Langford (~8%) vs. Essendon – he scored a tasty 104 against the Pies last week, so hopefully he can keep this kind of form up against the lesser competition in the Dons. Remember when this guy was getting preseason hype? He’s got the chops, but he’s a next year prospect I reckon.
RUCK
Nick Bryan (~20%) vs. Melbourne – we don’t much like this matchup, but as I’ve said for the past 3 weeks, there are NO OTHER VIABLE RUCK STREAMS.
FORWARDS
Logan Morris (~21%) vs. Richmond – you don’t need to be a fantasy ‘expert’ to understand why I’m suggesting this stream. Just in case you missed it, Morris scored a 128 last week, and we love some recency bias in fantasy footy!
Kade Chandler (~15%) vs. Essendon – I’ve always liked this guy, believing he’s a fantasy player trapped in a fantasy pit of a role. He’s averaging roughly 75 in his last 5, so if you’re looking to safely fill your M3-5 slot, you can’t go wrong here.
Cooper Trembath (~3%) vs. West Coast – spicy, I know, and only recommended for the brave/deep league players among us. I assume the Kangas will be wanting to right the wrongs of last week against some beatable opposition, and I’m hoping Trembath can be on the end of some inspired offense.
I don’t like writing outros. Hit me up on X if you have some specific streaming needs.
Happy streaming!
