Draft Game

The Stream Team – Round 19

Who are you grabbing off the free agent list for this week?

I don’t know about your leagues, but in my 2 main leagues, this is our last week before finals. I’m toast in one league, and middling in the other with a patchy squad that can pop on its day. What does that mean for this article? Well, it means I have some patching to do in the league I’m still alive in, so you damn well bet I’ll be rigorous in my research this week.

Anyway, the purpose of this article is to suggest one-week streaming options for draft leagues. Each week, I compile a team of lowly owned players (<40% ownership) that are worthy of a one-week pick-up-and-play, helping you fill any gaps you may have in your starting squads.

But first, let’s see how I went last round:

HITS

Rory Lobb (113) – there’s the BOOM. He would have been the Shoe-in of the Week if I knew for sure that English was going to miss. He ended up playing as the first ruck and needs to be owned until English reutrns.

Joel Fitzgerald (106) – BOOM. He was up to 70% TOG this week and had the matchup to go big. He’s a hold.

Ned Moyle (93) – he’s the number one ruck (solo) right now and topped scored for the Suns, having 58 HOs along the way. If you need a ruckman, check yhour wires for this guy.

Darcy Byrne-Jones (71) – this barely qualifies as a hit. Bergman and Farrell are back in defence, which my eat up some of DBJ’s scoring.

Cam Rayner (91) – you’ll be reading a lot about streaming against Essendon for the remainder of the season.

MISSES

ZERO!

No blunders is always great, but 2 nice tons and a 93 from the Shoe-in is what’s up. All of my other picks scored in that 55-70 range which is middling, but there were some roughies in there so I’m not too upset.

Here are the lowly owned players that I like as stream targets for Round 18 (ownership % taken from AFL Fantasy):

DEFENDERS

Jaspa Fletcher (32%) vs. West Coast – he’s averaging 86 from his last 3 and seems to have found his groove, which is coinciding with the Lions’ groove also being located. It’s also a nice matchup, making this stream feel pretty safe.

Riley Hardeman (1%) vs. Melbourne – you can tell by the % owned stat here that this one is a risk, and obviously a deep league play only. He returned to the team last week and scored a handsome little 70 in a good matchup, and again has a good matchup for defenders this round coming. I can see the chops in this guy, and to me he feels like the heir apparent to Parker and Daniel.

Joe Fonti (28%) vs. Essendon – you know I love the Font, and you damn well know I love the matchup. Even with Whitfield (most likely) returning, you can’t go wrong here. I’m proud to make the Font a first time Shoe-in of the Week!

MIDFIELDERS

Will Brodie (11%) vs. Fremantle – the matchup is bad, but some say he may replace Butters/JHF and we’ve seen him score very well when he’s got a full time inside role. Check for teams and if he’s not there, see if Drew or Wines is available.

Massimo D’Ambrosio (30%) vs. Richmond – his scoring has dried up a little lately, but there’s nothing like a matchup against Richmond to get your form back.

Nathan O’Driscoll (6%) vs. Port – the Saints’ outside players feasted last week against the Power (even Mason Wood got a ton) and with Butters and JHF missing, I can see a lot of Freo clearances leading to outside ball for Freo outsiders. His ceiling isn’t so high under the new Freo system, so this suggestion is for you deep league players only.

Dylan Stephens (29%) vs. Melbourne – we like our wingers against the Dees, and Stephens owes me a little more than the 60 odd he scored for the Stream Team last week. He has BOOM potential, but hasn’t exaclty met that potential lately. Let’s say he’s due?

AFL 2026 Round 17 - Port Adelaide v North Melbourne - A-70147406

RUCK

Ned Moyle (32%) vs. Western Bulldogs – last week’s Shoe-in gets another cap, and deservedly so. He’s literally jumped Witts in the pecking order and faces a Dogiess ruck division in disarray. Even if English plays, I love this stream. I love it so much that I would make him the Shoe-in again, but it almost feels too easy.

AFL 2026 Round 17 - Gold Coast v Collingwood - A-70074328

FORWARDS

Sam Draper (33%) vs. West Coast – rucks against West Coast is one of the more fruitful streams around, and Draper is coming off a nice little 92 against his former club. He’s getting 61% of the CBAs right now, which is the Lion’s share out of him and Fort. Don’t laugh at Lion’s share. Puns aren’t funny.

Aaron Cadman (10%) vs. Essendon – his highest score of the year was a 93 against Brisbane in that unprecedented flogging earlier this year. We can all precedent (not even sure if you can use the word this way) a similar flogging against the listless Bombers…

Mabior Chol (3%) vs. Richmond – if there’s ever a week to get on the Chol’s Royce as a roughie stream, this is it. He got a 98 2 weeks ago, and a 75 last week which was pretty impressive given the conditions.

AFL 2026 Round 17 - Hawthorn v Melbourne - A-70064717

Good luck if you’re starting your finals this week. With a concerning amount of premo carnage hitting us, streaming comes with some high stakes this week.Get me on X if you want to chat.
