Thursday – Early news

Early News: Plenty of debut news this week, with Luke Kennedy (MID $230k) confirmed to make his AFL debut for the Bulldogs. The Eagles will also unveil Marcus Herbert, while Melbourne have handed a debut to Lukas Cooke. Coaches looking for downgrade options will also have a close eye on Joel Fitzgerald, who gets his chance after posting huge VFL scores. Lastly Xavier Bamert gets a debut for Port Adelaide.

Wednesday – Early news

Round 14 is here, and we’re into the third week of the mid-season bye rounds. This week it’s the turn of Collingwood, Carlton, Hawthorn, and Fremantle to sit out. Early News: Adelaide coach Matthew Nicks has confirmed that Izak Rankine will be rested for another week. Sid Draper is available to play but has been confirmed to line up in the SANFL. He could become a handy downgrade option if he breaks into Adelaide’s senior side. Hugh McCluggage, who was a late out last week, has since been updated to a four-week hamstring injury. Dyson Sharp is a test this week if you somehow still have him sitting on your bench. Caleb Serong is also a test, while there is a small red flag for Luke Jackson owners, with Sean Darcy impressing in the WAFL and a chance to return and share ruck duties. Tom Stewart is confirmed to miss at least one match under HIA protocols. Max Gawn is carrying a minor shoulder niggle, and there is a chance Max Heath could return to provide ruck support. Joel Fitzgerald continues to push for a debut after scores of 152 and 119 AFL Fantasy points in his past two VFL matches. POD cashcow Josh Lai has unfortunately entered HIA protocols. If you own Jack Ross, he still hasn’t recovered from the concussion suffered before Richmond’s bye will miss this week and remains listed as TBC. Justin McInerney is set to miss at least two months with a serious hamstring injury. Reuben Ginbey has suffered a quad injury for West Coast, which may open the door for the return of Lindsay. Finally, Luke Kennedy (MID $230k) has already been confirmed to debut for the Bulldogs this week, providing another bargain basement rookie option.

GAME 1: Western Bulldogs vs Adelaide Crows

Thursday June 11 – AEST: 7:30pm Marvel Stadium, Melbourne 🏢🌙

Notes: Lachie Kennedy will make his AFL debut for the Bulldogs. Izak Rankine remains unavailable for the Crows despite reports his injury wasn’t as serious as first feared. Mild conditions are forecast and, with the game at Marvel Stadium, weather is unlikely to be a factor.

GAME 2: Geelong Cats vs Gold Coast Suns

Friday June 12 – AEST: 7:40pm GMHBA Stadium, Geelong 🌫🌙

Notes: Partly cloudy conditions are forecast with only a slight chance of a shower, but the key weather factor may be the strengthening northerly winds during the evening. Winds of 25-35 km/h could have some impact on kicking and ball movement. Tom Stewart is confirmed to miss at least one match under HIA protocols. Gryan Miers has been rested. Ruck rookie Mitchell Edwards is back in, which is great timing if you are missing a premium ruck this week.

GAME 3: Melbourne vs Essendon

Saturday June 13 – AEST: 1:15pm MCG, Melbourne 🌦🌫

Notes: Wet and windy conditions are forecast, with a very high chance of showers and strong northerly winds of 25-35 km/h. This is the game most likely this round to see weather impact scoring and disposal efficiency. Joel Fitzgerald has put up huge numbers in the VFL and should be a popular downgrade option this week. Lukas Cooke will also debut for the Dees. Jordan Ridley and rookie Dyson Sharp are both back in for Essendon.

GAME 4: North Melbourne vs West Coast Eagles

Saturday June 13 – AEST: 4:15pm Optus Stadium, Perth ☁

Notes: Partly cloudy conditions are forecast with only a slight chance of a shower during the afternoon and evening. Conditions should be suitable for football, with little weather impact expected. Reuben Ginbey has suffered a quad injury and will miss for West Coast. Taylor Goad is a ruck rookie with excellent numbers in the twos, but is most likely to share ruck duties with Tristan Xerri, which is a red flag for Xerri owners. Most coaches won’t still have him, but Tom Blamires is back in for the Roos. For the Eagles, Willem Duursma and Tom McCarthy join Reuben Ginbey on the injury list. Liam Lindsay is back in, joined by Tom Gross, who could be a sneaky downgrade option, while Marcus Herbert will make his AFL debut.

GAME 5: Port Adelaide vs Sydney Swans

Saturday June 13 – AEST: 7:35pm Adelaide Oval, Adelaide 🌙

Notes: Showers are expected during the day, but conditions should improve into the evening with rain easing before the opening bounce. Weather is unlikely to be a major factor in this match. Justin McInerney is set to miss at least two months with a hamstring injury. Kane Farrell is back in for Port Adelaide, while the Swans regain Harry Cunningham. Xavier Bmert gets a debut for port.

GAME 6: Richmond vs Brisbane Lions

Sunday June 14 – AEST: 1:10pm Ninja Stadium, Hobart ☁🧊

Notes: Make sure you check Sunday extended bench selections at approximately 5pm on Friday. Partly cloudy conditions are forecast in Hobart. Temperatures are expected to be on the cooler side, although conditions should otherwise be good for football. Hugh McCluggage has been updated to a four-week hamstring injury and Ross is out injured this week. There is also the possibility of a debut for Kye Annand, so keep an eye on the final Sunday selections.

GAME 7: St Kilda vs GWS Giants

Sunday June 14 – AEST: 3:15pm Marvel Stadium, Melbourne ☀

Notes: Make sure you check Sunday extended bench selections at approximately 5pm on Friday. Mostly sunny conditions are forecast, although with the game at Marvel Stadium weather is unlikely to play a significant role regardless. Harrison Oliver is back on the extended bench. Stephen Coniglio is out injured.
