Early News: Young Giants ruck Nick Madden is set for an extended stint on the sidelines after suffering a knee injury. Adelaide skipper Jordan Dawson will miss Friday night痴 Showdown against Port Adelaide. George Wardlaw missed training this week but is still expected to play, which could be relevant for those holding Tom Blamires and hoping for a recall. Tall forward rookie Cody Curtin (FWD $230k) will make his AFL debut for Brisbane against Essendon. More recent news has Darcy Parish set to be managed this week for the Dons. Unfortunately for owners Sam Lalor ihas injured his achilles in training and will be out for this weeks game and likely longer
Wednesday – Early news
Round 8 is here, and a quick reminder that a common feature this year is the Friday night double header – don’t get caught out. Early News: Superstar Isaac Heeney is set to return this week after missing with calf soreness. Josh Gibcus has suffered another setback and won’t be back anytime soon if you still have him sitting on your bench, while Josh Smillie has also been delayed with injury. The Dogs are taking a conservative approach with Tom Liberatore following concussion, and there’s a slight red flag on Marcus Bontempelli who is managing a knee niggle and has trained lightly this week. Dayne Zorko is a test to play, while Gryan Miers has been updated to 1-3 weeks with his knee injury. Jayden Short is expected to return after paternity leave, and Tim Taranto should be available after clearing HIA protocols. Tim English is also listed as a test. Not hugely DT relevant, but Aaron Naughton is remarkably a test after the scary incident last week.
Weather notes updated at Wed 2 Apr, 5:00pm AEST. Please check weather closer to game day.
Important times to remember
Thursday game teamsheets ~6:20pm AEDT Wednesday
Friday/Sat/Sun game teamsheets ~6:20pm AEDT Thursday
Notes: Clear conditions, ideal for football. After last week’s ANZAC heroics, Scott Pendlebury is being rested for the Pies. Jeremy Howe is also rested, which could be a small red flag for Dan Houston’s role in defence – potentially more kick-ins, but also a chance he plays a more lockdown role. James Sicily and Dylan Moore are back from suspension for the Hawks, while possible cashcow Jack Dalton is immediately omitted.
Notes: Indoor conditions, no weather impact. Popular cashcow Lachie Jaques has been omitted. With his high BE, it’s not the worst result and he could become a handy loop option. Adam Treloar has already been rested, which is frustrating for those who jumped on straight away. Tim English returns, meaning ruck rookie Lachlan Smith is out.
Notes: Partly cloudy conditions, no major impact expected. We already knew Jordan Dawson was out for personal reasons. Cashcow Nick Murray is omitted if he was on your bench, as is rookie Charlie Edwards. Todd Marshall is back in for the Power.
Notes: Indoor conditions, no weather impact despite showers forecast outside. Darcy Parish is being rested for this one, and some may have looked at Elijah Tsatas who has been dropped. Big in for Brisbane with Dayne Zorko back, and a debut for tall forward Cody Curtin (FWD $230k). Not hugely DT relevant, but good to see Nik Cox back in after a long stint out injured.
Notes: Partly cloudy conditions, no major impact expected. Tim Taranto remains out under HIA protocols. Jayden Short returns after paternity leave, but the news isn’t good for Sam Lalor who has injured his achilles at training.
Notes: Showers possible with strong winds, could impact marking and ball movement. No really DT relevant changes here. No sign of Blamires for owners unfortunately
Notes: Indoor conditions, no weather impact despite showers and wind forecast outside. Marc Pittonet is back in for the Blues, affecting the setup with Liam Reidy, although Reidy has held his spot and may share ruck duties. Not much else DT relevant, with possible POD Cooper Lord omitted, and interestingly Jack Macrae named as an emergency.
Notes: Partly cloudy with a chance of showers, minor impact possible. Make sure you check Sunday extended selections at ~5pm on Friday. Peter Ladhams comes onto the extended bench after a big game in the 2s, but is likely to be the emergency or possibly a second ruck if Max Heath is included for the Dees, which could slightly impact Brodie Grundy. As expected, Isaac Heeney is back in.
Notes: Partly cloudy with showers possible, conditions may be slightly slippery. Make sure you check Sunday extended selections at ~5pm on Friday. In the famous “Expansion Cup”, Kieren Briggs is in for the injured Nick Madden. Rookie Zeke Uwland has been managed. Joe Fonti is back from suspension.
A windy cold day in 2015, I was bored, sick with the flu, and decided to start a blog about Teamsheets. I was immediately recruited by Warnie and somehow am now a DTTALK author.
