Draft Game

The Stream Team – Round 8

Who can you pick up as a free agent?

Busy week. No time for waffle. Go Lions.

Anyway, the purpose of this article is to suggest one-week streaming options for draft leagues. Each week, I compile a team of lowly owned players (<40% ownership) that are worthy of a one-week pick-up-and-play, helping you fill any gaps you may have in your starting squads.

But first, let’s see how I went last round:

HITS

Tom McCartin (91 AF/103 SC) – key defenders get theirs against the Dogs.

Kane McCauliffe (83 AF/108 SC) – We didn’t get the BOOM from the Shoe-in (unless you play SC draft), but an 83 for your bottom end midfielder is nothing to sneeze at. Taranto comes back this week but I’m not against holding Kane against the Eagles.

Conor Nash (83 AF/87 SC) – decent; very Conor Nash-like scoring.

Liam Reidy (75 AF/108 SC) – he’s definetely a hold if Pittonet remains out.

MISSES

None to report!

I didn’t bring a lot of BOOM with my tips last week (unless you’re playing in SC formats), but none of them really hurt you either. An indifferent week overall, but hopefully we can get some AF 100s this round.

Here are the lowly owned players that I like as stream targets for Round 8 (ownership % taken from AFL Fantasy):

DEFENDERS

Josh Weddle (19%) vs. Collingwood – we know wingers love it against the Pies, but is Weddle capable of a pop score at the moment? You can loop him from the bench on the Friday night if you’re unsure.

Harris Andrews (15%) vs. Essendon – general defenders have feasted against the Dons this year, and Harris can hit big numbers on his day. It’s not an exciting stream, but if the Lions win big and take the foot off the pedal, there could be lots of ball being chipped around the backline late.

Judd McVee (3%) vs. Western Bulldogs – ‘defenders against the Dogs’. Add to that McVee’s recent form, averaging 80 AF in his last 2 games. You can also loop him from the bench on Friday night.

AFL 2026 Round 03 - Fremantle v Richmond - A-66005996

MIDFIELDERS

Hugo Garcia (38%) vs. Carlton – given his scoring form, inside midfield role and score build (based solidly in tackles), Garcia should not be under 40% owned. He’s a great stream in shallow leagues and a must own in deeper ones.

Kane McCauliffe (14%) vs. West Coast – I’m going back to the well with last week’s Shoe-in here because he’s playing a nice role right now and will be playing it against West Coast. A caveat for this one: Tim Taranto’s return.

Corey Wagner (6%) vs. Western Bulldogs – a stream for deeper leagues here, Wagner has been in decent scoring form, averaging 81 AF from his last 3 games (and a nice ton last week). The Dogs are a neutral matchup for players of Wagner’s ilk, but he’ll be playing under the roof of Marvel and if he can get back and get some marks, could score decently.

Massimo D’Ambrosio (22%) vs. Collingwood – oh baby, do we have a hot one here. The outside runners are killing it against the Maggies this year, and Mass has been in some good form with 3 out of his last 4 scores being 97, 102 and 106 (AF). You can loop him in on the Thursday night if you lack the faith I have, but I’m feeling so damn good about this one that Mass is my Shoe-in of the Week.

RUCK

Dante Visentini (10%) vs. Adelaide – he’s sharing with Sweet, but the Crows are a great matchup for opposition ruckman. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: covering your ruckline is dire right now.

AFL 2026 AAMI Community Series - West Coast v Port Adelaide - A-65564915

FORWARDS

Ed Langdon (34%) vs. Sydney – it’s not the friendliest matchup, but he’s been playing across half-back in his last 2 games thanks to the dearth of actual half-backers in the Dees’ best 23 right now. Bowey might come back this week, but I bet that they will manage him.

Tom Papley (27%) vs. Melbourne – we want to play our general forwards against the Dees and with Papley’s ability to pop some big scores, he’s the perfect stream for your forward line this week. He’s got scores of 118, 102 and 91 (AF) in his last 4 games.

Jake Waterman (20%) vs. Richmond – when you’re at home against the Tigers, any key forward is worth a punt.

AFL 2026 Round 06 - West Coast v Fremantle - A-66490991

Alrighty then! I don’t have much else to say this week, except that saying ‘alrighty then’ makes me want to watch Ace Venture again. Hit me up in the comments or over on X if you have any stream-related qualms.

Happy streaming.

I like draft-style fantasy footy, frisbees and the Simpsons.
