Inside the Numbers Round 7 Wrap

Pete from aflratings.com.au goes inside the numbers after round seven.

Gold Coast are emerging as a significant stop for post Round 9 Bye fantasy options, last year they were ranked 16th averaging just 355.8 Disposals per game and have increased that by +60.2 to average 416.0 Disposals and be the top ranked team in the AFL after 7 games. Leading the way is the resurgent Gary Ablett who is averaging 32.0 Disposals and  118.6pts per game (131.2 Ave last 4 games), he did send a scare through owners in Round 6 after a shoulder knock but returned to action to finish with 120pts.

Each week there seems to be a cameo played by either Matera, Miller, Barlow etc but it seems as though Aaron Hall is likely the number 2 option at the Suns, his high ceiling is worth considering as reflected in a career high 156pts in Round 7 but his Round 5 score of 54pts may be a turn-off for some.

There may also be options at Port Adelaide for post Round 9 trades, surprisingly the Power are the highest scoring team averaging 1798.0 in the last 3 weeks. With more midfield time Chad Wingard has averaged 113.0pts from his last 3 games and with limited premium FWD options thus far in AFL Fantasy he could be a consideration.

Jasper Pittard at 1% ownership may also be worth a look for Defender upgrades, he is averaging 97.5pts after his late start to the year in Round 4. With another significant price drop just around the corner for Ollie Wines he will be heavily targeted by many coaches, whilst his recent average of 81.8pts (Rounds 4-7) is cause for concern there should be an upside to trading him in (Ave 116.3pts Rounds 1-3).
