Roy’s Trade Talk – Round 22

My Twitter feed has been filled with questions about unique options to get them over the line in the Prelim, and boy oh boy, do I have some rippers for you with under 10% ownership!

  • Roy

My Twitter feed has been filled with questions about unique options to get them over the line in the Prelim, and boy oh boy, do I have some rippers for you with under 10% ownership!

Yep, he is doing it again! Josh Kennedy (MID, 578,000) is finishing the year like an absolute steam train with an average of 126 in his last three games and 124 in his last five. He hasn’t been below triple figures for seven straight weeks and within that time boasts whopping scores of 131 and 156. This week is a slight unknown with the game against the Roos being down at Blunstone in Tassie, although I think he will have a field day, before bringing it home in a Fantasy feast against the Tigers at the SCG.

Here is a unique name that I have been whipping hard in Moneyball, Dom Tyson (MID, $502,000) is in career best form, averaging 120 in his last three, but what is even more impressive is the fact he has gone over 123 in three of his last four, with a low of 110 in that time.  He is cheap and owned by just .5% of the competition.

If you have concerns about Stef’s ability to score while sharing ruck duties, the perfect unique to go with is Brodie Grundy (RUC, $528,000) who is having a career year averaging 99 for the season. His form in the last three rounds is outstanding with an average of 115 in that time. He has a great ceiling for a ruck with four scores over 119 in his last six games, of which less than 5% of the competition are enjoying.

Click here to subscribe on iTunes. (Please leave a rating and review to help us move up the charts).

My favorite is the Bont, Marcus Bontempelli (MID, $538,000) who is in ridiculous form with a five game average of 112, and realistically, he has been in that form for the majority of the year barring a slow start. What excites me most on the back of his 137 against the Pies is his upcoming draw against the Bombers at ES, followed by the Dockers at DS. He will be massive.

Talk about not missing a beat! Since returning from injury, Bachar Houli (DEF, $472,000) has been on fire with a three game average of 111 which puts his rivals to shame over that time. He doesn’t quite fit my criteria with an ownership of 11%, but he is close enough and deserves a mention leading into a promising game against the Saints at the G.

Good luck and have a chat in the comments about your trade ideas

    Nice one Roy!

I need a unique other than Grundy – thoughts on Stef to NicNat? That would leave me enough cash to upgrade Mitch Duncan to the Bonts….

    • Tex

      August 16, 2016 at 10:36 am

What about Mumford? Recent form has been good and a great draw for GWS. I’m certainly looking at him as a possible Stef replacement leaving me room to sideways trade elsewhere.

    • Foo Foo the Snoo

      August 16, 2016 at 3:46 pm

Surely a rested Jacobs has to be #2 on the list of Stef replacements?!

  2. Tigers

    August 16, 2016 at 8:17 am

Im thinkn of coniglio myself as a unique, has freo this week at home, will be huge

    • Sir Relton

      August 16, 2016 at 9:27 am

Beware the Sheridan tag. He’s claiming some decent players lately and Coniglio would be a prime target.

      • Brillzy03

        August 16, 2016 at 12:04 pm

I’m also scared for this reason, I got Cogs in a couple weeks ago, but I still think that Sheridan will go to Ward/Shiel, and Coniglio himself might go to Neale, which is also worrying

      • Possum Vomit

        August 16, 2016 at 12:18 pm

Sheridan tags Wars/Shiel first before Coniglio I reckon. Looking at bringing Conig in for Duncan this week myself.

        • loki

          August 17, 2016 at 7:29 pm

I have rarely seen a name that makes me nod in satisfaction, as much as the name possum vomit does.

          • Dildo Sniffer

            August 18, 2016 at 9:49 pm

            Aww yeahhh

      • Gazza

        August 17, 2016 at 7:02 pm

As Coniglio is a tagger himself I would find it interesting if they tried to tag him. He will probs be playing on Neale, so I don’t think a Sheridan tag would be an issue for Cogs.

    Great job Roy!
Need help with this – Menegola or Rupert Wills ? Which one to play on field ?

Thanks everyone – its been a great learning experience.

    • Sir Relton

      August 16, 2016 at 9:25 am

Taylor Adams done for the year will give Wills more opportunity in Midfield, so he should score more than Menegola. Both should go around 90’s.

  4. Sam

    August 16, 2016 at 8:52 am

Is it better to upgrade my last rooks (Mills/Menegola) or sideways Steven and Stef?

    • David

      August 16, 2016 at 11:39 am

Steven has Richmond this week and they usually don’t tag. I went Stef to Grundy but if Stef is named as the sole ruck I will reverse that trade.

      • Mudmanz

        August 17, 2016 at 11:44 am

I am holding Mills as I reckon there are more points to be made elsewhere (Martin + Adams or Adams + Pendlebury, if Martin is named sole ruck.

  5. Sir Relton

    August 16, 2016 at 9:24 am

Probably one of each. I’m gonna ride Mills home. He’s capable of 80-100 and about as reliable as any defender. And I’d get rid of Stef out of those two. Steven’s huge scores usually come from nowhere.

  6. Dawg

    August 16, 2016 at 9:41 am

Nic nat worth a punt for r2? R gray to hall?

    • Brillzy03

      August 16, 2016 at 12:15 pm

Nic Nat usually struggles against the hawks and the crows, and he has them in his last two (averages of 74 and 78 against them respectively).

  7. Jon snow

    August 16, 2016 at 9:59 am

    No shout for Ollie Wines?
I’ve been a frustrated owner all year but the last 6-7 rounds he has been very consistent. 3 avg of 110 and a 5 rd avg of 106…..

    • Brillzy03

      August 16, 2016 at 12:11 pm

Will struggle against the crows this week, although should go massive against the suns in the last round if your team makes it that far.

      • Foo Foo the Snoo

        August 17, 2016 at 8:07 am

Has a good record vs Crows.

    • Gehrig

      August 16, 2016 at 2:18 pm

It’s been a weird one owning Ollie this year hasnt it! I was lucky I had more pressing problems back in the middle of the season, because he’s been great recently! Only thing thats holding him back from being uber-premium is his TOG% which is lucky to reach 70 in most games

      • Sir Relton

        August 16, 2016 at 2:25 pm

I jumped on just before his mid season lull but he’s paid me back lately. His TOG has never been big, but it’s amazing to see his score jump 20 points in a minute when he is on. He goes so hard for short bursts and then needs the rest. Would be an unstoppable beast if he had a bigger tank.

  8. Jack

    August 16, 2016 at 10:41 am

Is anyone else stuck with Gaffe?? I feel like he is probably my weakest link, as he hasn’t gone big for a while. Shall I trade??

    • Brillzy03

      August 16, 2016 at 12:09 pm

If you have enough money you should go to Sidey, as he is only 50k higher and still quite unique

  9. mfawcett

    August 16, 2016 at 10:48 am

Worth holding Steven and Bartel? Can go Steven to Parker quite easily or hope he bounces back and trade Bartel to anyone I like?

    • Raj

      August 16, 2016 at 12:02 pm

      Keep Steven but trade Bartel.

  10. Tom

    August 16, 2016 at 10:53 am

cogs or the bont or jpk?

    • Brillzy03

      August 16, 2016 at 12:08 pm

JPK for sure, he is the best mid to have from now on, out of anyone

  11. Psych

    August 16, 2016 at 10:56 am

Which two should go out of Steven, Neale, Hunter and Duncan?

Pretty much decided on trading Duncan…

    Thinking Bont, Hanners or Treloar…

    • David

      August 16, 2016 at 11:41 am

Hunter has dropped off a bit lately. Steven has Richmond this week and should got ok. He’s been tagged the last couple of weeks.

    • Raj

      August 16, 2016 at 12:03 pm

      Hunter & Duncan

    • Foo Foo the Snoo

      August 16, 2016 at 3:51 pm

Duncan has only had one bad game and has been quite reliable otherwise. He has the Lions this week. Not understanding the hate to be honest.
Steven has stunk it up three games on the trot and won me a couple of finals on my opposition’s side. I’d flick him- he can’t be trusted.

  12. Raj

    August 16, 2016 at 12:04 pm

My original trades were mathieson to Long and Bartel to Doch, but this has changed due to T.Adams out for the year.
New trades are: T.Adams to Sidey and Bartel to M.Boyd $3k left

    • Foo Foo the Snoo

      August 16, 2016 at 3:53 pm

Do you need a playing rookie this time of year? Just grab a non playing $125k mid/fwd my man.

    • Foo Foo the Snoo

      August 16, 2016 at 3:54 pm

Sorry just read the rest. Yep they look like better trades.

  13. Brillzy03

    August 16, 2016 at 12:07 pm

Pops Kelly, Kade Simpson, Bachar Houli, Bernie Vince, or anyone else??

    • Raj

      August 16, 2016 at 4:19 pm

Simpson, Doch or Boyd would be my picks

      • Diesel

        August 16, 2016 at 5:25 pm

Houli in his current form should be a huge consideration.

  14. filth7948

    August 16, 2016 at 1:42 pm

few mentions of the Bont and sheridan… is sheridan gonna tag the Bont out of it last game? ??

    • Sir Relton

      August 16, 2016 at 2:17 pm

Good chance he will try. Greenwood tried on the weekend but only lasted a qtr. He may be difficult to restrain.

  15. Diesel

    August 16, 2016 at 2:56 pm

Who will B.Jacobs tag if he’s back this week? Hanners or Parker

Who will Robinson tag? Selwood or Danger

    • Raj

      August 16, 2016 at 4:18 pm

      I’m thinking Hanners and Danger

  16. Hunter

    August 16, 2016 at 3:30 pm

    Boyd or Houli?

    • Raj

      August 17, 2016 at 1:11 pm

I’ve gone Boyd as no idea what houli will score against Sydney at the SCG next week.

  17. Pedro2

    August 16, 2016 at 3:58 pm

    A, B, C or D?

A M Crouch to Dahlhaus & Wells to Hall
B Steven to Dahlhaus & Wells to Riewoldt
    B Wells to Riewoldt
    C Wells to Hall

    • Pedro2

      August 16, 2016 at 4:01 pm

went Crouch -> Dahlhaus & Gunston -> Riewoldt

  18. Will

    August 16, 2016 at 4:45 pm

    • Will

      August 16, 2016 at 5:31 pm

      Or Parker or JPK?

  19. D'Brickashaw

  21. MATTO

    August 16, 2016 at 8:11 pm

Want to get rid of Wright and Naismith, but have no cash to do so. I downgraded Wright to Markov and Naismith to NicNat with 33k left. I feel like this is a shit trade, but it is just about the only trade I can do.
Def: Docherty, Shaw, JJ, Vince, Bartel, Laird
Mid: Steven, Danger, Rocky, Neale, Sidey, Treloar, Wills, Hanners
    Ruc: Blics, Naismith
Fwd: Wright, Martin, Zorko, Monty, Riewoldt, Dahl

    • Foo Foo the Snoo

      August 17, 2016 at 8:14 am

Yep, you’re in trouble. What have you been doing all year?
Can you get to Goldy? Trust him over Nic Nat. Maybe choose a cheaper rook and upgrade next week. Who’s on your bench?

  22. Jay

    August 16, 2016 at 8:14 pm

So this week one of my leagues is a grand final and only 8 players different

    Kelly vs Simpson
    Vince vs Bartel
    Z Williams vs jj
    Parker vs Lewis
    Sloane vs JPK
    B Ellis vs Duncan
    Naismith vs Martin
    R gray vs kerridge

Which side better and who should be traded out from each side and to who

    Any ideas

    • Foo Foo the Snoo

      August 17, 2016 at 8:25 am

They are pretty close… Probably team 1 if Martin still has A Smith to share duties with.
Obvs Naismith and Kerridge need an upgrade. Stef too if possible. I reckon robbie will bounce back. Bellis could by anything and I’d have my doubts over him.

      Better get that captain right!!

      • Foo Foo the Snoo

        August 17, 2016 at 8:28 am

Without cash left and bench players it’s pretty hard to say who you should trade to. You may need to narrow it down/ think for yourself a bit.

    P. Wright -> Dalh, Hall, Monty???

      • Gazza

I would say Dalh with the draw (Essendon and Freo) but any of them are valid choices

Hey guys should i upgrade Pittard to Boyd/JJ or Houli…which one
or RGray to Zerrett ….please help

    • TT

      August 17, 2016 at 12:37 pm

In the same pickle. Going to go with Houli in his youthful backline (similar to Kelly). Need to have Zerrett although Gray should bounce back this week.

  26. Jacko

    August 17, 2016 at 9:17 am

G’day lads. I’m a bit stuck on what i should be doing this week. I have 3 trades left, finished first in my league. Current squad is

Def: Shaw, Doch, Simpson, Boyd, Laid, Collins (Hartley, Castagna)
Mid: Dangers, Sloane, Gibbs, Hunter, Pendles, JPK, Coniglio, Greene (Mathieson, Menegola, Trengrove)
    Rucks: Gawn, Goldie (Currie)
Fwd: Merret, Dusty, Zoko, Montagna, Wells, Dahlhaus (Hams, Phillips)

34k in the bank, what players should i be looking to bringing in?

  27. Jack

    August 17, 2016 at 10:39 am

bring in apeness for hams or phillips for cash and upgrade Collins for hodge and wells to hall I think

    • Tom

      August 17, 2016 at 12:35 pm

Apeness as dont need to make cash anymore. Rather Houli than hodge and Hall a good smokey if hes fit.

  28. Jack

    August 17, 2016 at 10:44 am

Smokey captain choice if u know the other team is better
He will be going rocky or danger

Who out of: Gibbs, Hanna, Gawn, Bont, Parker, Voldt, or maybe Buddy as he got 204 AF points last time in Tassie.

Let me know who you think is the best captain choice.

    • Tom

      August 17, 2016 at 12:30 pm

Don’t back a smokey against Rocky at home. Only possible is Parker or Gawn (Gibbs not against the Dees mid depth nor Buddy v Thomson). Any of the swans mids could get Jacobs lock down so too risky. Gawn not a good record v Kreuz so again too risky. Who’s Voldt? Assuming Riewoldt then would go him if you are destined to do a smokey against a young Tiges outfit but again say to stick with Rocky.

      • Sir Relton

        August 17, 2016 at 12:51 pm

I tried to buck the trend last week and went with Danger instead of Rocky. Dumb idea. It will cost you a place in the gf to go after a smoky C. Very low chance of succeeding.

  29. Tom

    August 17, 2016 at 11:10 am

    Pittard for Houli or Hodge??

Add in Docherty (Have Simpson, Kelly, Laird, Vince, Shaw)

        So Pittard for either Houli/Hodge/Docherty?

  30. Daniel

    August 17, 2016 at 11:13 am

Best forward under 463k? besides Dahlhaus.

    • Tom

      August 17, 2016 at 12:21 pm

Buddy (bang on 463k) has a tough draw – Likely getting Thomson and Rance.

Three others are Montagna/Gray and Greene (depending on who you have). Of those Joey bounced back well last week and should continue through to the end of the season. Expect Gray to bounce back and has stellar form in showdowns whilst Greene in a side who keeps winning and a dominant midfield.

Assuming you have none of them I would have to back Montagna for consistency but a flip of the coin as all have favourable draws. Don’t discount Greene who could easily have 5 goals against the Dockers…. Good luck!

    August 17, 2016 at 1:29 pm

    Dahlhaus or T. Mitchell??

  32. Jack

    August 17, 2016 at 1:39 pm

either one, they are both in good form and easy games to come
    Probably Dahlhaus for me

Titchell was playing forward a lot last game and dahlhaus is playing mid now coz of the injuries so I think dahlhaus

Have a prelim final against friend who beat me earlier this year, we only have 9 different players and his players right hand side, which side looks the goods

    Kelly vs Simpson
    Vince vs b smith
    Z Williams vs j smith
    Parker vs hanners
Hunter vs t Adams (will be traded as season ended)
