Check out how I went this week. I know, I know… “Thanks V8″. H ah ha. I’ve been hearing it everywhere. “Oh you’re the best Calvin” people would yell at my as I walked into shops and stuff… it’s just been mad! Swanny was awesome for 161 and Boyd was sicko for his 121. Ablett was ok (108) and my Saint lads, Montagna and Goodard were wicked with there 135 and 122.

Righteo – thanks for coming… but this week I am having a week off. Why? Cause I was good last week in my picks and… Cause I have sh*tloads of stuff to do and believe it or not, but this isn’t my full time job. So this week, Calvin’s Captains will look very different.

Cut and copy this little thing here into the comments and lets see how many players we can get covered. Then, on Thursday, I will update my post and list my top 5, based on what has been written. A poll will then be up for people to vote on as well. But lets start by collecting sh*t up ok.

I’ll start it off with my man, who was just amazing last week. Dane Swan.

Form: He has averaged 140 in his last 3 games this year with a low score of just 110 in his last 5. He has been on fire!
History: He averages 115 in his last 3 against the Power, with a previous scores of 154, 82, 109. He only played them once last year for that massive 154 and that was in Rd. 10.
Consider This: Swanny only played at AAMI once in 2009 and only had 103 (which is low for him). Kane Cornes tagged Leon Davis last time they played each other, so you’d think he’d be ok. Swanny was tagged by Thomas and then Chad Cornes. 48 touches later it’s safe to say it didn’t work.
Predicted Score: 125

Thanks For Ya Help

Firstly, yeah… thanks for the help this week in pumping out some captain’s advice for everyone. Below is my top 5 based on the research you have done and the follow up stuff I have done. Boyd misses out this week, as I just don’t like him against Carlton as they are the 2nd hardest to score 100+ scores on in the last 3 weeks and the 4th hardest this year. I get scared about things like that. Goddard also misses despite his form, but he averages just 91 Vs Lions and although he’ll be awesome… I just can’t. My top 3 here are pretty much everyones ‘go-to’ guys this time of year and have starting playing really well, with the expection of Gary who has been a little quiet based on what he normally does. Sandi gets a gig though as he will crave Richmond to bits and have a huge score! Anyway, thanks again. And I hope you drill a ripper. The guys in my poll are all worth picking, so call that my top 10 if you like. Oh and I’ll be going with my boy from last week… DANE SWAN!

History: Last 3 v Cats are 101, 50, 76
Consider this: Form isn’t great against the cats and Mitchell is out this week so he will probably get more attention. However.. is having a belter of a year and loves playing at the MCG

Predicted score: 100.

May not get one of his monster scores this week. Might be a roughie because of the form the bloke’s in but there are safer options this week

Player: Simon Prestigiacomo
Vs: Port Adelaide @ AAMI
Form: Presti in 2010 has been at his consistent best, averaging 27.6 over his last 3, and a respectable 27.2 over the season. There are few go to captains every week in DT, but Presti is one of them due to his consistency and durability.
History: Presti averages 32 over his last 4 against the power, having cracked the 50 against them in his second last match vs them. However, due to injury and the draw, this average comes from a game in 2009, a game in 2007 and a game in 2006.
Consider This: Tredrea is out for the power, so Presti may be left as the loose man behind the ball, coordinating and setting up the Pies play from half back. This role should produce a 110+ score.

Consider This: Gaz loves playing in the big games and the Cats vs. the Hawks is always a big game. However, every time I bring a new player onto my team they turn to shit, this week with Barlow going down I’m bringing in the little master, so be warned!

Consider This: The Pies get a soft draw and hardly ever leave Melbourne so they have only played Port once in 07, 08, 09 and again play them just once this year so form is harder to judge than against a Melbourne team.
Predicted Score: Daisy has his ups and downs, but this week at Aami I’m tipping down; 85.

Consider This: Kade has been a dt jet this year and expect this game to be no different. He has had just 2 games below 91 this year and those were 73 (against Melbourne – got knocked out), and 88 (against St Kilda – tagged by Geary) whilst maintaining an impressive average of 106. Another bonus is that he rarely attracts a tag due to the presence of Judd, Murphy, Gibbs, giving him heaps of space to take those crucial marks on the wing which help his scoring.
Predicted Score: 124

Also could be a great unique pick for the barlow trade while pocketing you some extra cash. Price: $403,900

Consider This: All of the vs. Freo scores come from times when Richmond were cellar dwelling losers who couldn’t find a win to save themselves. Their recent performances have seen Jumping Jack getting a much higher quality of ball delivered to him, and he’s been loving it 150 FFS!

Consider This: It was sad looking up the rd5 game and seeing Barlow as top scorer with 115 that day. Dunno why Sandi’s 08 scores were only 52 and 49. He dominated hittouts, so maybe that was from when he was just a good ruckman and not a DT god taking marks and kicking goals? (I only started DT this year so only know about Geelong players in 08)
Predicted Score: Sandi will be angry that his clearance partner has gone down, and when gods get angry….. Whatch Out! Sandi is gonna smack out a 150 in tribute to Barlow.

  I think you are overrating him in your head.. hes a selwood so he should be alright.
  BUT he is a WCE and a tager most of the time so its a risky pick up.
  
  There are guys like Kelly, Harvey or Stanton who are around the same price that i would feel safer having in my team.. id go james kelly.. spesh after the cats had over 500 possies as a team.

I was thinking Montagna but up in Brisbane who knows how he will go. SO the safe pick is Swan, with his tagger Chad Gornes out suspended, I am positive he will rack up the possessions again just like 2009 against Port.

Only reason I wont select ablett is because its against Hawthorn and he’ll be tagged even more than last week when they were against Kangaroos

  Remember, Rocky is playing against St. Kilda, so could be very quiet. Pods is a genuine keeper, you’d never put him on your bench. Same with Higgins, despite his poorish form of late. If you buy players like Higgins just to sit them on your bench, then you’re a bit deluded.

I have all five of them; Swan, Monty, Ablett, Sandi and Selwood. I think I’ll probably go with Swan or Montagna. I don’t like the look of Ablett vs. Hawthorn and Swan against Port is looking very promising.

So, Swan is probably odds on at this point. Especially after he delivered for me last week.

who should i be getting in for barlow? i already have bartell… and have 22k in bank.

can’t afford goddard or swan. so is chappy worth it seeing that he is DPP?

and is ablett worth it or will he get a rest for a week or two?

i’m struggling to decide this round. choices:

a. swan – unsure if he’ll be tagged by kornes, unsure of his form at aami

b. ablett – has been a bit quieter, but is due to explode (especially if he decides to fire up vs the hawks). showers forecast for saturday arvo in melb though..

c. monty – at the gabba is the only query. if this game was at the dome he’d be a lock. saints perhaps due to take their foot off the pedal for a match?

d. goddard – i just can’t bring myself to put the C on someone that isn’t a dedicated midfielder / onballer (besides buddy VC in the split round). is that weird?

at the moment leaning towards swan – C; monty VC. will wait to analyse my eliminator matchup before deciding fully.

on a side note – why does it take them so long to release the eliminator matchups each week? especially now there are only 256 teams left. says on the main screen that matchups will be available on WEDNESDAY but they never are.

  a) Kane Cornes usually goes to a Didak or Davis. I’ve noticed the last few weeks that Kane is playing as a defender, usually a forward tag, then running off his opponent. I am locking Swan, he is in great form and until he drops off, he’ll most likely be my captain, week in, week out.

  He may be a great scorer in DT but his disposal efficiency isn’t that hot. So he is overlooked as a ‘damaging player’ and they tag Didak or Pendles instead.

    I’m bringing in Gibbs for Barlow most likely…
    The Sunday avo game will be an absolute headache with 8 of our players playing. My heart might not make it through another round!
