I’m currently in the process of producing a frisbee golf major for my YouTube channel (yep, that’s a thing), so I am once again a little pressed for time this week. My time is purely going into the analyis and not the waffle. But while I’m here, how much better are waffles than pancakes? Like, pancakes are good, but waffles are better with their texture and absorption of toppings. You know I’m right!
Anyway, the purpose of this article is to suggest one-week streaming options for draft leagues. Each week, I compile a team of lowly owned players (<40% ownership) that are worthy of a one-week pick-up-and-play, helping you fill any gaps you may have in your starting squads.
But first, let’s see how I went last round:
HITS
Massimo D’Ambrosio (97 AF/96 SC) – and the Shoe-in hits! That’s 4 good scores from his last 5 games and I’ll be holding him for now, despite an unfavourable opponent this week in the Dockers.
Jake Waterman (116 AF/105 SC) – there’s the BOOM! Impressive that he did this in a loss, but Richmond are Richmond… so keep streaming your key forwards against them.
Kane McAuliffe (99 AF/115) – very nice. He could be a hold, but Taranto’s return looms and Prestia was injured very early, just FYI. However, that’s 2 decent weeks in a row and I told you this guy has the chops.
Harris Andrews (80 AF/92 SC) – not bad for your D5 slot. Hold in SC, turf in AF.
MISSES
Josh Weddle (44 AF/35 SC) – what is going on with this bloke? His role is a bit all over the place, but still.
Dante Visentini (36 AF/44 SC) – these secondary ruckman are not the guys to stream – lesson learnt.
Well 4 out of 11 hits ain’t bad, but I would like to hit around 50% a week because I take pride in what I do. My misses have been minimal this year, which is just as vital. Having 3 games before the conclusion of our Friday nights invites looping, so make sure you’re on top of that.
Here are the lowly owned players that I like as stream targets for Round 9 (ownership % taken from AFL Fantasy):
DEFENDERS
Mac Andrew (~8%) vs. St Kilda – a litany of Carlton backs scored well last week, and despite instances in some recent games, the numbers for backs against the Saints are still tempting for me. Mac is also coming off to 96 AF scores, which instils some confidence.
Miles Bergman (22%) vs. Western Bulldogs – he tonned up last week and looked good doing it. Perhaps he’s shaken off those preseason niggles? The Dogs are a great matchup for your defenders too so you can stream Miles with confidence this week.
Zac Guthrie (14%) vs. Collingwood – he’s got the best matchup for defenders the league has to offer right now, and if you read this article weekly, you’ll know how much I love a ZC stream (we already had a nice hit with him earlier in the year). I love this stream so much so that ZC is my Shoe-in of the Week.

MIDFIELDERS
James Peatling (~33%) vs. Richmond – he’s had three solid weeks on the trot now and has a juicy matchup to come. Dawson’s return may impact him, but it’s the Tiges, so don’t worry too much about that.
Kane McAuliffe (~18%) vs. Adelaide – yep, I’m going here for a third week in a row because he’s been scoring well, Prestia will miss time and he’s facing Adelaide who are a nice opponent for inside mids.
Bruce Reville (5%) vs. Carlton – firstly, we love our wingers against the Blues. Now BRUUUUUCE lacks the ceiling, but at this ownership, that’s no suprise and I’m mostly recommending this stream to my deep league readers. Berry is still out which helps as well.
Sam Cumming (~5%) vs. Adelaide – we like streaming inside mids against the Crows, and last week, Cumming had somewhat of a CUMMING our party (HAHAHA) in terms of fantasy. He had almost 40% more CBAs last round (74% overall) which shows the faith the coach has in him.
RUCK
Darcy Fort (26%) vs. Carlton – it’s not pretty, but he’s under 40% owned and has a green matchup in the Blues. Pray your R1 stays fit is all I’ll keep saying here.
FORWARDS
Jacob Van Rooyen (6%) vs. West Coast – you know the drill against Wet Toast. This is a deep league option or a pick for anyone with a sizeable set of stones.
Cam Rayner (20%) vs. Carlton – a home ground advantage against a Blues team who leak to general forwards? Deal. He’s coming off a nice little 90 AF and could easily repeat that kind of scoring this week.
Stephen Coniglio (26%) vs. Essendon – remember when this guy used to score heaps well? A home game against Essendon could see history repeat itself here.
I’m feeling pretty good about my tips this week, but if you have any concerns, get me in the comments, or better yet, @ me on X (I don’t check the site frequently over the weekend).
Happy streaming!

Thanks Matty – really useful article. Always great to see some deeper Draft stuff in the margins. These are the decisions we make on who to field or trade every week
