Cal's Scale of Hardness

Cal’s Scale of Hardness – Rd. 7

It’s been updated so check out the legendary – Cal’s Scale of Hardness!

GET READY PERTH!

Oh yeah – we can not wait to hit up Perth next week for what should be an epic night. Make sure you have secured your tickets, because just like in Adelaide, we expect this show to sell out. We’d love to see as many legends there as possible for what should be a fun night of Fantasy chat and maybe a beer too.

Click on the link above and I’ll pack the guitar and my pirate hat and I’ll be seeing you guys very soon – as for now… it’s time to hit up the magical scale of hardness.

What does it all mean?

VS – is the average points a team gives up each week.

For the first time this year we see Essendon lose top spot to the Dogs who are now giving up 1669 points per game (72.5 point per player) which is crazy. On the other hand, the Kangaroos retain the title of the hardest team to score against only giving up 1381p.p.g and that works out to be 60 points per player on the opposition team.

100 and 120 – is the amount of 100-plus and 120-plus scores a team have given up per game so far this year. Collingwood and Essendon are giving up the most 100-plus scores this year and as for the Kangaroos… we’ll once again, they are hardly giving up anything.

DEFENDERS

🔥 Sydney, Eagles, Hawthorn and St Kilda
❄️ Adelaide, Gold Coast, Geelong and Kangaroos

Sydney have an elite run coming up, as they play the three easiest teams over the next four weeks. Good one for draft, so Riley Bice and Callum Mills should have spikes in their scores.

Defenders from Adelaide, Gold Coast and Geelong… look out – it’s looking red. Their runs coming up is one of the worst ones I have seen this year. Wayne Milera… it might be time for him to be moved – and dare I say it…. Colby as well, especially if they are going to play him forward like last week – his draw isn’t great.

MIDFIELDERS

🔥 Brisbane, St Kilda, GWS Giants (next week),
❄️ Geelong and Carlton

Keep an eye on Hugh McCluggage (breakeven 124) because you could launch early on him this week, however, Essendon next week will be prime! Ashcroft also remains a target starting this week with those three nice games coming up.

It’s Nasiah time! That run he has coming up is ultra-juicy. Against the teams coming up, he scored 76, 108, 134, 118 and 112 against last year. His draw as a DEF or MID is fine to be chasing this week.

What’s this – Get Finn Callaghan on the radar… Gold Coast and Essendon are easily the best teams for MIDs to score against and that’s followed by the Eagles afterwards. Teams he averaged 114 against in 2025.

RUCKS

🔥 Melbourne, St Kilda and Sydney
❄️ Collingwood and GWS Giants

It’s all coming back to Grundy and Gawn… just like the old days. Old School!!! Both have great runs coming up and will be the best two rucks once again by the end of the year. Talk me out of it!

Ok. .. let’s cover it… Rowan Marshall. He does have two great games coming up and he looks to be solo. How long for? That’s the question. I’m ticking it off as a short-term play and one that could see him averaging 120-plus over the next two with ease…. if he stays solo.

Calvin… you’re missing the forwards? No I’m not – We don’t like to target pure/key forwards… so keep in mind we want FWDs (like Sheezel and Flanders) who play bulk midfield and therefore we should be targeting them and looking at the MID scale. However, over at patreon.com/dttalk is all updated there (even the FWDs) and handy for draft.

These two are a problem!!!!

Zak Butters is in the firing line this week after Mullin held Bontempelli to 28 last week… and don’t forget Mullin also got Rankine (21) earlier in the year.

Butters scored 34 and 46 against the Cats last year – so yes, the alarm bells are ringing. For me… I’ll play him on field as normal and just shuting my eyes and hope for the best. Nightmare incoming…

This is a bigger problem than just one week – it’s a problem we need to constantly map out. This is where the scale is elite and everything you need.

For example…  Nick Daicos will meet both Mullin and Jordon in just two week’s  time. Roy’s first reaction was “that’s when Daicos can be turned into Bailey Smith” – and I don’t mind his way of thinking. We need to be ready for when this happens because these two taggers are the best in the game.

Even with Finn O’Sullivan on the sidelines, Simpkin has been having a go in his place. He recently went to Will Ashcroft and potentially goes to Callaghan this week… but with FOS expected to return, he most likely takes back over.

Finally, Hugo Garcia is the other one to keep an eye on… he regularly gets roles and on his day, he too can be bloody tough.

WANT MORE SCALE?

Of course you do – this is just a snippet of what is on offer in our PATREON space. Instead of getting a five week summary like above, imagine having the whole scale, updated weekly at your fingers tips (images and downloadable document) – along with my hot takes on it each and every Thursday…. it’s great, get involved today.

Do you need a Captain? Then Calvin will help you out. Don't want a Captain? Calvin will tell you anyway. The man who digs deep into stats will help you pick a great captain and give you plenty of Fantasy advice. Follow him on Twitter: @CalvinDT
