G’day legends – welcome back to Calvin’s Captains.
It was a pretty interesting round for captains last week… check out below and guess who I had?
No. 1 – Max Gawn = 77
No. 2 – Errol Gulden = 82
No. 3 – Dayne Zorko = 118
No. 4 – Sam Walsh = 113
No. 5 – Rowan Marshall = 119
No. 6 – Marcus Bontempelli = 126
No. 7 – Sam Flanders = 104
No. 8 – Brodie Grundy = 84
No. 9 – Nick Daicos = 115
No. 10 – Jordan Dawson = 106
Unbelievable… yep, I went Max into Errol. Oh well, I had a few good lads in there and this week we’ll aim for the same with a few rippers as well. Good luck legends… I hope you hit some big ones this week and either climb the ranks or get a win over your mates in your league.
CALVIN’S TOP-5 CAPTAINS
No. 1 – Gulden v STK
@ Marvel, SUN 3:20pm
Forgive him for last week and focus on the 133 he averaged leading into that game from the five games prior. This is a great match-up for Gulden who should rack up plenty of marks, something the Saints willingly give-up. Gulden has averaged 122 at Marvel in his last three games (over the last two years) and should be back to his best!
No. 2 – Zorko v ADEL
@ GABBA, SUN 4:10pm
At home, Zorko averages 130 this year from seven games (avg. 96 away). Yep, that’s a big tick but also the fact that Whitfield had 160 against the Crows last year in a similar role. He will bring the round home strong.
No. 3 – Ryan v RICH
@ the MCG, SAT 8:10pm
Out of all the Fremantle players… who has the most pig tendancies and has the abiity to hit huge scores? Yep… it’s Ryan! Nic Newman (143) smashed the Tigers last week which leads me to think that Ryan will do the same as he did earlier this year when he had 161. yeah his form has been down averaging 78 in his last three games, but we’re chasing a big one here with a VC.
No. 4 –Merrett v COLL
@ the MCG, FRI 7:40pm
Great VC option on Friday night here after Zach has scoed 125 and 146 against the Magpies in his last two games. Collingwood don’t tag and that’s what has been slowign Merrett down in recent weeks. Anderson scored 140 against the Pies last week and before that we saw the Kangaroos midfielders also score well. He’ll be great.
No. 5 – Dunkley v ADEL
@ GABBA, SUN 4:10pm
Dunkley gets the nod (just) over Serong here as he not only averages 114 at the GABBA this year he has had 158 and 151 there in his last four. He scored 114 against the Crows earlier this year and once again… I’m chasing another big one from the man who is filling all the stat lines at the moment.
ALSO CONSIDER…
Caleb Serong v Richmond
Form is the only factor here because what if Serong has been playing injured and/or carrying something. Since he scored 141 against the Tigers in round 8… he hasn’t scored over 107. He’ll be a popular VC option and rightfully so in this match-up.
Max Gawn v West Coast
Scores at the MCG this year… 137, 107, 149, 134, 92, 109, 152, 148 and 98. That is nuts. But the big fella has burnt us recently with scores of 77 and 98 but he can’t be over looked at the MCG.
Windhager has already stated that he has a photo of Errol in his shower pane all week so far so I’m guessing I’ll pass
Source?
We are roomies
Who is the priority trade out.. Simpkin or Sexton??
I have the same question
What are your thoughts on Sam Flanders vs North?
Big score.
Are we taking Merrett’s 120 as a VC Loop?
I’m a bit scared off from last weeks balls up
Does this question need to be asked…
VC’ed N Daicos, question should be whether to take the 102 or not, think will risk it
I wouldnt be taking it ham and cheese. Got to be a few 170 scores out there this weekI reckon.
Take Caldwell’s 130 or go with Gulden?
Take it
I see what you did there and I’ll allow it – as long as your mate Cheese and Tomato Kambrook doesn’t see us in here, or else we’ll both be fried.
Fellas, need desperate help. Do I take a Merrett 120 or do I gamble and go for a C on either Gulden, Zorko or Serong.
Obviously Merrett is the safe play but with some of the scores that have been churned out so far it feels a bit low
Cheers.
150 is like the new 120, no one’s satisfied anymore, lol
Dunks or Zorko as C?
