Sorry for my absence on the site the past couple of weeks, the AFL has got its schedule together and we’re back! It’s time for your weekly fantasy therapy session, it’s time for the Weekend Wash-Up!
LEGENDS
W.ASHCROFT (152) – THIS IS WHY WE PLAY. The redemption arc is complete. I said he was unders at HT, good to see he made up for it in the 2H. It’s on me for not going through with captaining him, but Will answered the bell. Welcome back.
Dawson (156) – I thought Dawson might be sore after last week, think again. One of the best players in the comp and clearly the best captain in the comp, including fantasy! Absolute legend.
Laird (133) – I had written Laird off and seemingly so had Adelaide fans. What he given an ultimatum? A L5 of 105 having had his bye cannot be ignored.
E.Richards (128) – Ed is quietly averaging 103 for the season, which puts him incredibly close to M8 in a best 22. The R16 bye is a shame, but keep an eye on his form.
Anderson (133) – Matt Rowell was supposed to be the Gold Coast midfielder getting 11 tackles! If Petracca keeps getting the tags, Noah could be in for a career best finish to the season. What a pickup he was a couple of months ago.
Holmes (114) – Homma has been ticking it over without being spectacular lately, and this score was thanks to the 7 kick ins with no Tom Stewart. It’s a blessing, but he’s still a safe best 22 player.
Noble (113) – Who is wearing the Johnny Noble suit?! Friday night was the first time I got to really have a close look at Gold Coast and Noble, and I was impressed… Kind of. It had a lot of Archie Roberts about it. Noble is racking it up in the back pocket and the Suns continue to lose. If this role continues, he’s a top 3 defender. Regardless with Archie down, he is a likely top 6 and therefore worth spending up for!
Kozzie (135) – This was only a matter of time for Kozzy, who clearly loves playing the Bombers. Who doesn’t. Clearly a top 4 forward and a must have if you still don’t own him (like myself) after his bye.
Setterfield (123) – Should he be playing for Essendon? Probably not. Should he be picked up by a serious team next year? Absolutely. Setters is way too good for the VFL.
Merrett (123) – 87% CBAs in the 2H for Zach as they abandoned the HB role quickly. Regardless of where he plays, he’s going to be great. Safe as houses.
Sheezel (129) – Even in North’s low scoring fantasy games, Sheezel continues to get it done. What a player.
J.Richards (107) – It seems crazy, but Joe Richards is getting legit midfield time and the Power have been decent. 67% CBAs, up from 40% the week before, and a solid month of scoring! If the role disappears this could be a disaster, but if it sticks… A worthy punt.
Warner (100) – Sometimes maybe good, sometimes maybe sh*t. Cheeksy is delivering! All roads lead to a 90 average, no doubt he loses this midfield clock soon. Jmac going down helps him massively, and if he remains a 70% CBAs guy he will be a top 6 forward.
Wilmot (105) – Darcy just keeps it going. L5 109!!! He is genuinely just Dayne Zorko in the Darcy Wilmot suit, and I can’t see Zork being rushed back anytime soon. A top 6 defender as long as Zorko is out and an option to start seriously considering off his bye. Elite POD.
Taranto (129) – Much needed bounce back in his L3, but it’s the Tigers. And it’s Tim Taranto.
Oliver (116) – L8 104, Clarry is back. Scratch off those never again lists, I’m back on board.
Whitfield (115) – The perfect seagull.
Ash (113) – The perfect seagull.
NWM (110) – Listen, they have a go at Archie Roberts game, but Nas get labelled one of the best in the comp. I’m just not sure that’s fair… The ultimate fantasy seagull alongside the Giants bros and a must have for our sides after his bye.
Daniels (101) – BRENT. 84% CBAs (most for giants), 31 disposals (16 contested), 10 clearances, 6 tackles. This is here to stay and while he’s not the perfect fantasy player, he can push the top 6 forwards in this role. And we know he has a 170 in him… Gun.
LOSERS
English (67) – Embarrassing. I don’t know what more to say here. I am aware I should have traded Timmy 3 months ago, but that was because he has missed so much time. It wasn’t meant to result in him coming back and becoming Jordan Sweet reincarnated. Just horrendous. A shoutout to whoever kicked him in the nuts late, that at least gave me a bit of joy. It doesn’t matter what I do, the rucks will derail my season. It’s fantasy lore.
Tanner (45) – We speak of a player overstaying their welcome… It is time to GO. He just can’t nail down a role, probably because he’s just not good enough.
Sanders (58) – Can a forward stay reliable for more than 1 month? Even Ryley is falling to pieces now. Terrible performance and on notice ahead of his R16 bye.
Petracca (70) – I knew what I was getting myself into, and I still did it. Sad. Back to tiktok’ing mate, recruit of the season my a**.
Steele (77) – No comment.
Roberts (44) – It’s just not right. I genuinely CANNOT remember the last week I didn’t have a forced trade from a serious injury to a ‘premium’. It has been a joke of a season. Let’s also be clear, anyone who traded him got maybe the biggest kissing I have ever seen! A 130 and best 22 guy ended up with a 40, dropped $100k and is a must trade anyway. Yuck.
Robey (36) – 70% CBAs 1H, 0% 2H and for good reason. It’s time to go.
Cooke (30) – Another blow for those coaches who made a savvy trade. He was looking awesome with a few intercepts, on track for ~70 and being a great cash cow. Hopefully he is back and OK after his bye.
McKercher (51) – I just don’t know if it’s ever going to happen for old Colby. There’s a reason he can’t find a role that works, and that’s because he cannot get a touch unless it’s a cheapy in space. I went to the game wanting to keep a close eye on his role, then quickly forget he was even out there. Has to go.
Murdock (42) – Milan’s worst game by a country and his bye has come at the perfect time. Thanks for your services.
Starcevich (37) – I am sorry, but 9 disposals with 6 KICK INS?! After Darling kicked 4 on him in the 1H? Hell of a start.
THIS GAME SH*TS ME
It’s about time for a good sook, and there’s just nothing worse than seeing another mate get kissed on the you know what in fantasy. Trading Archie Roberts, what are we doing. A laughable move and an even funnier result, sometimes it really is a game of luck. Stay salty! This game sh*ts me…
THE OTHER BITS AND PIECES
1944, total sh*t show from my rookies, screwed by Archie. Saved by Will.
Once again it’s the ruck department that has gone above and beyond to totally f*** my entire season. I rage trade Rowan Marshall out after he gets shot, he comes back with a 160. I trade in Kieran briggs the perennial 90, and he becomes a literal liability. I don’t want to risk McAndrew R2 and just paying up over $2.2 million dollars to set and forget the two best rucks in pre-season, it costs me upwards of 300 points and close to half a million bucks. It’s laughable.
Archie is going to HHK, to allow Robey to De Goey and Retschko to Butters. Yes, I had traded Zak Butters. Let’s just move on from worrying about my side shall we.
Roberts -> HHK
Robey -> De Goey
Retschko -> Butters
Best of luck next week legends, let’s back it up with another high scoring weekend! Get me through these bloody byes…

Steele no comment 😂, I honestly dunno what to do with him either, stay or go
Stays in my team this week and next week decision will be whether to bundle 3 lower scorers to try and get a premium Vs upgrade on Steele when hes on bye. My teams not doing well so might try to bundle worse problems. I think if your doing well you can upgrade Steele now to a player with higher ceiling. good luck.
Thanks Matt. Great summary.
Was looking forward to 3 trades with previous forced trade carnage. Alas it just continues weekly. Prices going backward ..just kills…Jmac 2 big price reductions before trade and Archie etc. The 50% TOG rule is good but mid-year bye benches bare. The game seriously needs a trade rethink, especially early. Injury prices should not drop till 1 week later so coaches can trade out without loss of value or choose to keep with drop value-needs a bit of thought.
Made up 3000 spots with Dawson C to rank 27000 roughly. Awful really but butter mouse mode. My trades this week look like:
Roberts to Ash or Whit or Noble or Laird)…any thoughts
Murdock to Daniels
Retschko to Blamires (mainly because need def prop up this week and best I can afford)
