GameDay Squad – Round 16 Trading Targets

Kerm from GameDay Squad has some GDS trading tips ahead of round sixteen!

Sigh… The bye rounds are finally done! Coaches globally can finally breathe as they open their GameDay Squad apps to see just about everyone available for selection! Except of course the Clayton Oliver mystery continues and James Sicily can’t play nice. Anyway, we head into round 16 with what feels like a fresh slate! And you know what they say, the third quarter is the premiership quarter, so strap in, this is where boys become men, it’s a marathon, not a sprint… cheesy quote entered here… etc.

It’s time now to get stuck into some round 16 fantasy chatter! GameDay Squad is a little bit different to your more traditional AFL Fantasy and AFL Supercoach platforms. Some features that make it a little bit of a different experience are:

  • There are no weekly trade restrictions, which means that you can take your MRO frustrations out stress-free.
  • In GDS the cards you use to play are virtual player cards which you can collect from player card packs, with that, there is a fully functioning peer-to-peer transfer market in which you can trade, auction and sell player cards that you own. Yes, this means that you can not only rage trade but rage sell all of your James Sicily cards!

It’s also essential to keep in mind that GameDay Squad is a dynasty fantasy football platform and that will be heavily taken into consideration in this article.

GameDay Squad – Create. Coach. Compete.

BUY!

Angus Sheldrick

Sydney Swans – Forward (FWD)

Angus Sheldrick is legit, legit! Sheldrick began his season super slowly, making his 2023 debut in round 7 as a sub and then again three rounds later in round 10 where he was again the sub. He finally earned a starting position in round 13 where he performed incredibly well for 19 disposals, 3 marks and 6 tackles. Round 13 would only be the beginning for Sheldrick! Fast forward to round 15 where Sheldrick is coming off a 29 disposal, 4 marks, 4 tackles and a goal outing against the West Coast Eagles for a career-high 126 GDS fantasy points! Sheldrick now feels like he’s found a place in this young Swans side who also boasts the likes of James Rowbottom, Errol Gulden, Chad Warner, Nick Blakey, becoming one of the most exciting young cores across the league. The 19-year-old is a player you’re going to want to snap up as soon as possible, who knows what his ceiling could be!

Nic Martin

Essendon Bombers – Forward (FWD)

I thought Darcy Parish would stick a stake in Nic Martin but boy am I happy to be wrong! The 22-year-old Bombers starlet who is averaging 104 GDS fantasy points per game to date and more importantly averaging an eye-watering 132 GDS fantasy points in his last five games is taking the league by storm right now! After a relatively slow start to the season, Martin now finds himself firmly in top 6 forward conversations and is right up there with the likes of Errol Gulden and Zak Butters in dynasty rankings. While still maybe a tier below those two guys, Martin should be started with the utmost confidence right now, he’s in form that will be hard to keep consistent but you could say that for the league’s best as well!

SELL!

Keidean Coleman

Brisbane Lions – Defender (DEF)

When is Keidean Coleman going to fire? No Daniel Rich in the side, no real ball-carrying or damaging threat off half-back for the Lions and most importantly, health! Have all been working in Coleman’s favour, yet he hasn’t been able to take the leap that many thought he would! Coleman broke out in 2022 with Daniel Rich missing a lengthy amount of time. It was during this period where Coleman caught the attention of fantasy coaches for his incredible line-breaking kicking ability and a role that looked to have been tailor-made for the young Lion. It has to be said that 2023 has been extremely disappointing, in 14 games this year, Coleman has only managed to eclipse the triple-digit mark just once! Insane considering the level of opportunity he has had this year. It is worth keeping in mind that Coleman is still just 23 years old and still has a ton of opportunity to become the player many thought he would, it just doesn’t seem like 2023 is his year.

Elliot Yeo

West Coast Eagles – Defender (DEF)

Dude… Never. Again. List

HOLD…

Mitch Duncan

Geelong Cats – Defender (DEF)

Through the chaos of the Geelong vs Melbourne game, I was pleasantly surprised by how well Mitch Duncan was covering the ground! Duncan returned from injury in round 14 where it looked like the Queen Mary could turn at a bigger angle, and uncharacteristically he couldn’t hit the side of a barn by foot. A week truly is a long time in footy as it looked like Duncan wound back the clock and looked like his usual clinical self in round 15! 19 kicks, 3 handballs, 6 marks, 8 tackles and a goal took Duncan to the top of Geelong’s fantasy scoring 140 GDS fantasy points! If he keeps this level of scoring up on a consistent basis, we will have a very low-key borderline top 6 defender on our hands for the back end of the season.

Darcy Parish

Essendon Bombers – Midfielder (MID)

A tough start in his return from a lengthy injury for star Essendon Bombers midfielder Darcy Parish. A score of 99 GDS fantasy points might be passable for most but this is Parish’s first score below triple digits so far this season! Fret not, however! The dude is a genuine gun who is good for 125+ GDS fantasy points on most given weeks. He might take a little time to rev the engines back up, but it’s not cause for anything drastic, keep him, hold him and then start him when the time is right!
