The byes are gone, but the carnage isn’t, with many coaches copping at least one bullet, but many copping 3 or 4+. It started last Saturday night, with Braydon Preuss being subbed out injured, while also being suspended for his tackle on Tim English, who is another massive out after suffering from delayed concussion as a result of that tackle. Zak Butters is the other massive out with a knee injury, but it came at the worst time as he was on fire before the injury. Some coaches also had to hold Max Gawn, who didn’t play last night, Brynn Teakle would have been very useful for English owners, but he is out for a while after breaking his collarbone, Dayne Zorko didn’t play with his hamstring injury, Darcy Parish is out again, and some coaches even have Jordan De Goey who is also missing. If you didn’t cop a bullet, then you should buy yourself a lotto ticket!
We had another Thursday night game so lets get stuck into what happened.
Melbourne vs Brisbane @ MCG
Hugh McCluggage (136) – Another big game from Hugh McCluggage. His last 3 scores are 118, 114 and 136. He’s too expensive for me to be an option, but if you have him you would have enjoyed.
Luke Jackson (125) – The big performer has to go to Luke Jackson. The most traded in player for the week delivered as the solo ruck. I didn’t jump on, but congrats if you did. I didn’t see a 125 coming.
Jack Viney (118) – Backed up his 157 before the bye with a 118. Probably the best Viney has looked. Similar to McCluggage, too expensive to consider.
Oscar McInerney (116) – Seems it was a ruck feast out there, with the Big O having his season high score.
Daniel Rich (112) – Has responded well after that poor 37 in round 11, following up with 125, 97 and 112 in his last 3. I don’t see him being a top 6 defender, but he has been solid for most of the year.
Christian Petracca (107) – This could have been a lot bigger. Was burned about 4-5 times in the first quarter. Looked really good, and the bye looked to have really helped. I see him averaging 108+ for the remainder of the season, and is underpriced. Great option that could push the top 8 mids.
Angus Brayshaw (105) – Steven May being back didn’t change his role. That’s now 4 tons in a row, and he looks really good in that D50. Will push the top 6 defenders, but I have him just outside at the moment, but someone to look at.
Clayton Oliver (102) – Slowed after half time, with a 42 point second half. Really expensive now over 950k, I would prefer other options, but will be a top 8 mid.
Keidean Coleman (90) – sIf you are still riding with Kiddy, you would have been quite happy with another 90. Back to back 90’s has meant he is still generating cash, so you could hold for another week or two.
Lachie Neale (79) – Poor night for Lachie, but was tagged all night by James Harmes. Could we see this more on the run home?
Christian Salem (61) – Had a knee concern earlier in the game but played the rest of the game out.
Jarryd Lyons (42) – Copped a massive hit from Fritsch in the 2nd quarter, and I was surprised he cam back out, but was eventually subbed out in the last quarter.
James Tunstill (31) – Quiet night for the debutant, and with Brisbane losing bad and playing poor, I wouldn’t be surprised if he was dropped next week.
Now, lets get into the rest of the Weekend Forecast.

My Trades
English -> Darcy/Witts
Butters -> Bontempelli
Trades are pretty simple this week. I am trading English as I have no rookies on field (apart from Daicos), so I am being aggressive and going for points on field, plus I think English could miss 2 weeks. I am looking at one of Darcy and Witts. Both have great matchups. I like the ceiling of Darcy, but worried about his injury history. With Witts, I don’t see his ceiling being as high as Darcy, but less injury risk. At this stage, I am leaning towards Darcy. With my other trade, I will get enough money from the English move to allow me to go Butters up to Bontempelli. I think I would personally pick Bont over Treloar and Parker anyway, but I can’t actually afford them so it makes the decision even easier.
Anyway, thanks again everyone for reading the Weekend Forecast. If you have any questions about your starting teams, or anything else, leave your questions in the comments section below or hit me up at my Twitter or Instagram (links provided below).
Good luck for round 15!

Torn between Walsh and Laird. Do you think Walsh can get close to Laird for the rest of the season? The extra cash will come in handy.
No, not a chance. Go Laird.
We all should have gone Laird from the start..
But noooooo… we didn’t, did we?
Gun in a mediocre team..
Hahah what a tool ! No wonder your right down the pack. Had him before the byes now I’m in the top 200. Where are you spud, hope you didn’t forget to do your homework last night
DeathAdders22 what’s your team name?
Jake. I believe his team is called sword swallowers.
probably called ‘delusional’
Hi there life loser, Adderall.. 🤣
I’m right up the other end, the pointy end.
An area that you’re not familiar with.
Grammar you imbecile, do you know how to use it? 🤣🤡
Need to field one of SDK/J.Clarke this weekend, awful but who should I lean on?
I brought in Jackson for Hayes and was very happy with that trade.
I did too, but most of my league opponents also did and I guess so did the majority of coaches above me in rank. So I don’t think I’m making much ground with the Jackson in trade (but at least, not slipping back if I didn’t make that trade).
have Preuss and English, so need to trade one/hold one.
What is the rank of ruck options – I have ROB/Nank/Witts/Darcy (Darcy’s 40 scores are gross)
(Note: Already traded Butters for Jackson)
Cogs or bont?
I think cogs will be the more consistent + higher scorer from here on. Bont still hasn’t given me a ton since I brought him in, while cogs has gone bang 4 times his 49
Yep, thinking along the same lines. Love the bont but Cogs hard to pass up. cheers.
I’ve got Cogs.. who’d you pick between Taranto and Bont?
J. Mead of SDK to field?
Or Windhager
Mead @ home. He’s on my bench.
Don’t know much about the other 2 though..
As always, good read bails.
Trade 1 was massively kissed, zorko to Jackson (holding English).
Any thoughts on 2nd trade?
– Rozee to Andy Brayshaw?
– Daicos to any def?
– Hately to Steele (or Dawson?)
– something else? Cant get hobbs or SDK to anyone good this week, so will bite the bullet, field them and see how we go!
Cheers legend!
Bring in Brayshaw
Great. Port has a late out for H&S protocol and Sam Hayes is NOW in.
Gotta love the brutality of fantasy football!
The way Port don’t seem to rate him he will be back out again next week.
seems he is back out now haha
Source? He is not even listed as an emergency at the moment
For a short while he was listed as an in, and on field at HB on the afl app
It was a spelling error. Was meant to be Sam Mayes.
Who to ditch out of Preuss and DeKoning?
Preuss has been suspended three times- best to get rid of him you don’t need him for cover next week.
De Koning has a permanent place in the Geelong side, even if his scores are sometimes mediocre.
I’m now using De Koning as an emergency cover for DEF.
He could also be used as a cover for the FWD’s.
With so many outs lately he could still be handy.
Thanks Bill. Preussy goneski
Preuss
Traded Preuss to Jackson, what to do with Butters. Do I play 1 ruck short and upgrade him to premo midfielder ($914K to spend) which puts Soligo on bench or trade him for Cameron so as to play 2 rucks.
Soligo plus Cameron should get you more points than one premo plus a ruck donut.
Agree
Thanks Brian (and Pendles). I’m not thinking straight after watching my Lions last night – still in shock!
With a couple of rookies named, I am feeling divided. My first trade was Butters to Jackson, which I am very happy about. I had already made my second trade McCartin to Whitfield, and I would have only Soligo remaining as a rook on field. However, my bench sucks and won’t generate a lot of cash, with Durdens, Owens and Teakle injured, and Cleary, Clark and Carroll struggling to get named. Would it be best to switch Clark for Chugg/Archer to give myself more cash and hopefully cash generation, but sacrifice points until next week.
Who would be better: Archer or Chugg?
My original plan was to fix up my rooks next week, but the only available rooks may be more expensive.
Wait a week and see how they go and if they stay in the team, unlikely to go up more than 20k.
If you dont have Parnell or Ambro you should be picking them up this week.
Definitely not Archer.
Chugg or Blanc. But I know little about either.
Fry may have mentioned them, not sure as I don’t need any rookies this week.
decided to skip getting in jackson and field jamieson instead 🤦
Sorry for your loss. See you in 2023
Luke Jackson trade in = Happy Face 😄
Fielding Jamieson and Hobbs = 💩
Traded English to Draper (Fielded Jamieson & accidentally set him as captain 😅😅
Fielded Hobbs, v.c Jackson lol
I won’t whinge about my C on Macca anymore
That’s gold (but I am sorry)
Tom Mitchell doesn’t produce the scores he used to.
Look for a trade once I’ve cleaned up my remaining rookies? Or persist with him?
His price will go down this week, and probably the next two. It will level out after he plays Adelaide. He had a run of three games where he actually reached 120, but they were Lions, Suns & Pies; three of the easiest teams to score against. In the past, you would have expected 140+ from him in those matches. He has a pretty easy run to come, but is he going to smash it? I think that is unlikely. Is he going to be a top 8 mid in the next 8 rounds? I doubt it. He’s a luxury trade; only if you don’t have other more pressing issues.
Two rookie forwards to upgrade first- next week, as long as more players don’t go out with injury/ suspension.
I have been saying that last clause every week. There have been so many injuries that have hampered my team. That’s why I still have Soligo on the field, and a number of injured, or unselectable, rooks on the bench.
Talking about suspensions… how long will Stewart get? 1 week, or 2?
I’ll hold him in any case. I have back up rookies.
Off the ball (very late), left the ground, high contact, deliberate, severe outcome. He goes straight to the tribunal. Should be 4 weeks minimum, but as a Geelong player he will get the Geelong discount, so probably a week. Seriously, if he is offered 2 weeks, he will consider himself kissed. It was very bad.
Sounds like a Collingwood supporter’s views there. Tom Hawkins gets suspended when he sneezes.
If it was a Pie who did that, they might as well start their off-season now. Stewart, by his own admission, chose to run past the ball and make the bump (deliberate), contact was high and forceful, and Prestia was subbed off early in the match and will miss another on concussion protocols. If Stewart gets 1 week, he serves less than Prestia.
Sure, Stewart’s bump doesn’t look good, and I’m sure he will accept what ever suspension he gets.
What I object to is your assertion that Geelong players get the ‘Geelong discount’ which is not based on any fact at all, or any semblance of reason. Seems like a very, very silly thing to say.
You seem to be asking for that discount. You say 1 or 2 weeks. The MRO guidelines are deliberate high contact = 3 weeks. Deliberate, high contact with severe consequence is straight to the tribunal. 1 or 2 weeks does not come into it. It is 3 minimum. It is funny that Scott has spoken about the incident. Normally, he doesn’t even acknowledge that a player has done anything wrong, and says that whatever it was was nothing. This time, he knows it is bad, so he is trying to mitigate the sentence by talking about Stewart’s character, but by Stewart’s own admission, he ran past the ball and chose to bump – deliberate. It was head high. Three weeks minimum. Was Prestia’s convulsing on the ground severe? I think so. He should be sent to the tribunal.
I was listening on the radio, and presumed the penalty would be 1 to 2 weeks. Having watched it on video it may indeed be more.
I don’t care what Scott says. IMO he’s an idiot and should have been sacked as coach years ago, and I’m a Geelong supporter.
True, Tom Hawkins has received his fair share of suspensions. It’s actually Scott’s performances that get my hackles up the most.
All good. We agree on this.
Geelong keep resigning Scott because he has a good winning record.
But he doesn’t win premierships.
hinkley and scot both hopefully they wont resign funkley time for new direction
Pendles, Mitchell has hit 120 only once, round 10 against Brisbane.
Maybe my wording was poor. He had three ok games, one of which he hit 120. I was not implying he was a good pick up. He has an easy run to come, but his record this year does not indicate he is worth getting. If you have him, which I don’t, it is a luxury trade, and you would only trade him out if you no longer have a rook on the ground.
Well, I was planning to ask you all what to do with Brodie..
Looks like he’s a better option than Cripps.
As a fwd, he Brodie sits on the cusp of the top 6 available fwds. By available, I mean excluding Speakano and Headbutt. Obviously, you have no actual team issues. Brodie is one of the last trades to make, surely. Push to get the top 8 mids first.
Yeah P4B, glad I brought in Nanks after his bye.
Got Jackson too.. 😉
But, I’ve got Stewart, he’ll miss 2-3 weeks so I’ll probably get to bring in Doch. Finally.
Treloar is my lowest score so far. So I might have to wait a week to upgrade him to Speakano.
Daicos is my only rookie on field. He’s scoring well.
Got 5 playing rookies that I can sell.
As always, there’s FMDT waiting to ruin..
What a sh*t week for captains
Anyone trade out Will Brodie?
Anyone else trade out Lloyd?
Nope, had him from the start, set him as captain last night and currently in the top 20. Good luck in 2023 young fella
Brave move captaining him with only 3 scores over 100 and last score below 50. Well done
What’s your team’s name?
No one named Trevor in the top 20?
No Trevor in the top 50?
What gives?
Trevor tells porkies. I need Toby Greene to lift. Can’t believe I got sucked in to buying him again this year after a couple of good games. Rocks and diamonds
Stewart: 2 weeks suspension I’ll probably hold him, as he’s unlikely to do something as stupid as that again.
3 or 4 weeks out and he will probably have to go.
Something always gets in the road when you’re trying to get rid of rookies.
Stewart straight to the tribunal. Minimum of 3 games ban.
