It’s that time of the week guys and girl! Grab a vessel and let’s chat for halfa about #AFLFantasy https://t.co/zuo76nsSWT
— Adam Roy Davey (@RoyDT) April 30, 2019
Get them in:
Caleb Daniel (FWD/DEF, $627,000)
Daniel has continued his consistent season and of course gained valuable flexibility with defender status. In the last five weeks he has dropped under 90 on just one occasion with 86 and has an awesome match up this week if you are after instant reward against the Tigers who have given up huge numbers to half backs this season. He has a break even of 84 and looks set for a season high.
Taylor Adams (MID, $654,000)
I am never one to chase a unique for the sake of it, but I am calling the next three blokes the 1 %ers (1% ownership). All of the genuine unique options and two of them tick boxes… One is fraught with danger.
The hard working Pie MID has had an interrupted start to the season but looks to have hit his straps while bottoming out in price. He has a break even of 95 on the back of his 120 and as a bonus, has only 1% ownership. He loves the match up this week against Port with scores of 111, 139, 111, 128 and 124 in his last five against the teal.
Brad Ebert (FWD/MID, $681,000)
In unconventional fashion, the former midfielders move forward has reinvented himself as an elite scorer, averaging 101 so far this season. His consistency has been fantastic with only one score under 95, while also displaying a nice ceiling with two scores over 120. Apart from the Pies game this week, he has a favourable run of opponents who give up plenty of Fantasy points in the Crows, Suns, Hawks and Saints leading into the bye. He has a BE of 104 and scored 94 and 97 in his last two against the Pies, albeit in a different role.
Toby Greene (FWD, $589,000)
Returned for just his second game of the year and in true Toby fashion, dominated the Swans for three goals and seven marks while scoring 103. He has the easiest draw in the business leading up to the byes with games against the Saints, Hawks, Blues, Dees, Suns, Crows and Roos so the only questions is whether he can stay on the park. My gut feel is no, which is unfortunate because if I can convince myself otherwise, I would be all over this move. That draw, for a guy like Greene is a mouth watering prospect.
Noah Answerth (DEF/MID, $198,000)
Is the pick of the downgrades this week after exceeding expectation with an impressive seven mark, five goal performance for 75 points. He is a great bench option, that also provides flexibility with his DPP while carrying a BE of -7.
Listen to the AFL Fantasy Podcast with The Traders at Apple Podcasts, Spotify and Google Podcasts.
You… Get the Chop
Tom Liberatore (MID, $587,000)
On the surface it looks good, an average of 92 at a price under $600K but looks can be deceiving and what we have seen the last two weeks is a huge concern. After a brilliant start to the year, including a three game stretch of 106, 119 and 108, like all Dog mids he has lost the plot, only he is the worst by a long shot. Despite attending 20 centre bounces against the Dockers, he managed just 57 point which included only one tackle and this was on the back of a disappointing 72 the week prior. He has an easy match up this week against the Tigers but has done his dash with me despite an attainable BE of 103.
My Trades
At this stage my trades are Liberatore and Tom Atkins to Caleb Daniel and Noah Answorth.

Larkey a good downgrade?
Rhys Mathieson and other lions were injured. Despite Answorth’s solid 75 I have concerns he wont even be listed round 8.
Brad
April 30, 2019 at 7:47 pm
I like Larkey as an option. Looked pretty good against Port. 3 goals for his 82, but take those away and it’s still a 60 odd. VFL numbers pretty good also
Brad Scott mentioned they need more avenues to goal and that’s why Larkey is in. Also has a good bye round as well if he made it that far

My thoughts as well. Answerth looked good, but Zan Bailey is listed as ‘test’ and if he doesn’t come back this week, it’ll be next week. I would like to see Answerth stay in from a fantasy perspective, but, as a Lions fan, he’s the most obvious one to make room for Bailey and Bailey is definitely ahead of him in the pecking order.

Just a few things…
Is now a good time to trade out whit? if it is, do i go Stewart or someone else. I’ve already got Lloyd and crisp.
if i should hold whitfield, 2 rooks can go. hore, lockhart, duursma, walsh, costable, ross, drew and miers- all my onfield rookies. mckay, burgess, hately, gibbons, brander, balta- benched rookies. Who goes?
if i do trade whit that’s only one rookie trade that i can do. any thoughts?

Except when everyone is complain about cash and going to Stewart nets you $120k, this is only if he misses if he plays I’d say ride it out and keep the faith with GWS’s noice draw but god damn anyone who started without him is honestly kissed
Dreg

Kissed? Yeh missing out on 5 weeks of 120 scores is totally kissed lol.

1 Libba and petruccelle to Houli and Ross
2. Libba and drew to Taylor Adams and Ross
3. McMillan and petruccelle to Houli and Ross
1 2 or 3?..
Troy
April 30, 2019 at 6:29 pm
3. Libba could just be having a down-patch. McMillan isn’t picking up. And Drew could improve with Gray on the sidelines.
Brad
April 30, 2019 at 6:41 pm
Boak or Tim Kelly? Kelly 100k cheaper, but Boak in incredible form
rossco1
April 30, 2019 at 7:31 pm
I can afford either, but i’m going with Kelly. 100k cheaper and favourable match up this week. I’ll get Boak in the week after if all goes to plan.
Nathan Youngman (@Natebra14)
April 30, 2019 at 7:53 pm
Boak has his easiest draw coming up after this week. He could really hurt not having for the next few weeks.

Dropping Liba is an over-reaction/rage trade by Roy the boy. Stick with and you will not be disappointed.

Sound like super luxury trades your team must be killing it . If you aren’t I’d do neither of these trades .
But 2 is the better one

+1 Michael.
There dudes out there doing these stupid trades and still have dropped players Burgess, Schultz, Scott, Rotham or non-playing non-rucks Hind, Koschitzke or fattenned cows Clark, Parker, Collins, Petrucelle, Drew, Rozee, Duursma etc.
For all those riding any of the above mentioned – THEY MUST GO FIRST before Constable, Williams, Brodie Smith, Walsh and Mumford!

Chances of Jarryd Lyons averaging back in the 90s? What’s been going on with him?
Belly
April 30, 2019 at 9:44 pm
So one article says definitely keep Libba, the next day another says definitely get rid of him…
Jim
April 30, 2019 at 10:59 pm
Listen to matt, the traders give the stereotypical advice, “he has reached his breakeven, ditch him”, realistically he has richmond who give up huge fantasy numbers, libba should be 90+
He had the role and the centre bounce numbers, the experience and the scoring history
Belly
April 30, 2019 at 11:21 pm
Thanks Jim. Still playing in the guts is key, I’m holding him at this stage.

Anyway, great article Roy.

You missed the 5 goals to Answerth M1. If you’re gonna nitpick, expect to get nitpicked. I expect you won’t give a sh*t just like Roy won’t give a sh*t about our nitpicking
Harry
April 30, 2019 at 11:58 pm
At this stage going:
Parker > Lewis (Bench)
Petrucelle > Ebert
Not sure about Lewis but is the only option in the fwd line atm. Would Wilkie to Answerth be better?
Sammy B
May 1, 2019 at 1:36 am
Larky had a decent enough game 82, 2 snags in that, played up the ground got a few processions in the defensive half and a noice breakeven of -12, he’s got Carlton this week as well, also has the rnd14 bye. On the flip side he plays for North enough said.
Nah but he’s spent a couple of years in the 2’s between afl games didn’t see the game but I’ll be watching this week and looking to pick him up next round if he shows a bit.

Double Downgrade:
Drew > Larkey
Cousins > Answorth
Stacked up for cash for next round (749k) to grab Boak and probably Laird
Sammy B
May 1, 2019 at 1:42 am
Why don’t you upgrade this week that honestly makes no sense Answorth has seriously shaky job security Larky doesn’t have that much better although I’m more keen on him then Answorth. Think one up one down is the go.
Hold Drew trade cousins
Check out stocker if named playing off half back in the vfl should come in with newman and Simpson going down
Also my boy Hately who should score as well as constable but again job security, a good showing this week and he may be able to hold his place when Whitfield returns
David C
May 1, 2019 at 7:26 am
Brisbane give the rooks a run of games. Answerth should be fine.
MiniMonk
May 1, 2019 at 4:19 pm
Answorth BE is super low and want cash generation to kick in. Might miss boat this week on BE and if Drew is scoring low on bench and not increasing price then needs to be moved on. Hately more expensive but am thinking of getting.
Going to decide on 2 rookies based on selection, BE, and price. Double upgrade next week allows me to grab two premiums as opposed to a midpricer this week as will probably move on Scrimshaw and Duursma after this round
Sam
May 1, 2019 at 7:43 am
Guys I’ve got a question. If you had $683k to spend on a forward or a defender which one would you go with. I have Lloyd down back and Danger, Kelly, Boak, Menegola (gross I know) up front. Daniel as a swing man so I can go FOR or DEF with the $$$$.
Tossing up between Ebert, Stewart, Sicily, Ellis, Houli and whoever else. Willing to punt on the buy rounds as I’m confident a loss or too won’t hurt me too much.
Thoughts?

Hey lads, Is Stewart the real deal in DEF? or is he likely to bleed points now that Tuohy is back in their defence and working to full fitness? I can get any def sub 690k (Have lloyd, cant make Laird) – are there any better options as a Top 6 DEF at this stage? Hurn has super easy run next month so concerned he doesn’t score as well, other option I am thinking is Houli plus 100k. Thoughts?
