Duds: R. Gray, Naismith, Shaw, Vince, Collins, Steven, J. Selwood
On the Chopping Block: Clay Smith, Sexton, Pendles, Mathieson

On the Chopping Block: ??? hoping shaw, Bartel and Steven bounce back next week but that’s 2 bad games in a row for Steven.
Vent/Brag/Whatever: Pretty happy, played Naismith on the field and kept Jacobs on the bench. Should have played my new rookie O’Brien but oh well. Also traded in Devon Smith which turned out pretty good.

TrueBeavers bow out to a stronger team but it’s been a long season and, not to take anything away from the opposition, there were just too many passengers on the day. Nonetheless True Beavers have had their best RDT season so far – highest score ever 2543, highest overall pos ever 652. We’ll take that into the preseason and build for next year.

THE DAY MY FANTASY TEAM DIED:
For 19 rounds my AFL fantasy team was chugging along quite nicely, with all the usual glitches along the way, but coping enough to get the double chance in 4 of the 5 leagues I am in and to finish 5 in the other league. Then came Round 20. It started on at Thursday’s selection take when, after 3 of my players were dropped, I finished with only 25 players playing. I had to abandon my plan to bring in Swan Kennedy to concentrate on my backs to make sure I had 6 playing. I tossed up between Boyd and Kelly and went for Boyd. That cost me 21 points. For captain I tossed up between Dangerfield and Rockliff. I went for Dangerfield and that cost me 22 points. These are really minor setbacks – all part of the wonderful world of fantasy.
But what happened to the many of my players is something else.
Clay Smith Season average 80 Round 20 score 5 (on field, of course)
Robbie Gray Season average 99 Round 20 score 40
Jackson Trengrove Season average 71 Round 20 score 44
Bernie Vince Season average 94 Round 20 score 79
Lachy Hunter Season average 107 Round 20 score 75
Heath Shaw Season average 104 Round 20 score 68
Jack Steven Season average 108 Round 20 score 64; and to finish off
Andrew Gaff Season average 94 Round 20 score 46
I finished the round with a score of 2008, losing all 5 finals. If these 8 players had scored their average I would have scored 2333. I know that players score below their average (roughly in half their games) but 50 or 60 points below is ridiculous. After all we almost never have players scoring 60 above their average?
Why do we do this to ourselves?

Good on you true beavers. I am still in it in 4 leagues because I had the double chance (at least I think I did), but geez, it’s painful.
And sorry for the lousy formatting of my post above. Before pressing the Submit Comment button it looked fine. Sort of in the spirit of my team.

Can’t split JPK and Sloane.
JPK big POD in my league, but I like Sloane’s run. However Sloane plays PA in Rd 22( my leagues GF) whom he scored 67 against earlier in the year.
Also, worth trading Vince to JJ? (I have spare trades) Do you guys think JJ will score more than Vince in the next two rounds?
Really appreciate guys!

Tom Lynch lost 3 points a day late, a bloody day late. Because of that I drew with my opponent, and because they finished higher by less than a percent I lose. FML

you should give it away if you,re grizzling about slightly sub 100 scores.
Brillzy03
August 7, 2016 at 10:35 pm
Not grizzling, just annoyed that someone as good as Hunter has a 3-round average of 87, that’s all. Also nothing else exciting to talk about, so ended up scraping the bottom of the barrel

Need to trade Walters but haven’t got much cash. Has Isacc heeneys role changed, he’s scored well the last two weeks?

Would be a massive POD I’m guessing, and probably low-risk considering his breakeven if he spuds it up

Going into the half-time break with a 1-0 lead, after a clinical finish from Zac Barbatano, saw the boys needing only to consolidate for the final 20 minutes and build upon their lead whilst continuing their solid defensive efforts. This they did, aside from a lapse in a 5 minute period during which the Majik boys were able to slot home a quick fire two goals. Try as they may, the Boomerangs boys could not score a second to at least take the game into over time, and their season ended after just 40 minutes of finals futsal.
