AFL Fantasy has been open for a week and thousands of teams have been put together in the lead up to the huge 2013 AFL Dream Team season. Using the Assistant Coach “Coaches Choice” section of the Analyser, the most popular players per position, lead by Brendon Goddard (DEF/MID) in 44% of teams, Jack Viney (MID), Gary Ablett (MID), Jaeger O’Meara (MID), Bryce Gibbs (DEF/MID), Lance Franklin (FWD), Matthew Leuenberger (RUC), Dean Cox (RUC/FWD), Brent Staker (DEF/FWD) and Dane Swan (MID).
The table below shows the most popular players per position. In most cases, I have put dual position players into the lesser position (eg, DEF/MIDS into the defenders) for the sake of the tables. If you want to see complete lists, activate the Assistant Coach analyser and click on Coaches Choice.
Using these names, I went through and picked a team… well, almost. I straight up and went for the 8 most popular defenders, 10 most popular pure mids, 4 most popular rucks and 7 most popular forwards… why not 8 forwards? I have only $19,700 left in my salary cap. If you want to have a crack at fitting a popular team together making use of DPP, or mixing some players not mentioned here up, go for it! The team below is just for a guide. Interesting to see how many of my players are in it.
For more on the Coaches Choice stats including the percentage ownership, have a crack at the free trial of the Assistant Coach on the AFL Fantasy Dream Team site… you will also see some articles written by us on there too!
