lake or hargrave?
If you have to make the decision right now, Hargrave.
But you don’t, and you’ll have a better idea after a few more NAB matches.
It will still probably end up being Hargrave.
I’m on the Hargrave train! He looked really good in the intra club match as well. Looks like the Doggies are adopting the Hawthorn style of short chip kicks to targets. Great for racking up cheap DT points!
with ya on that 1 kev
hargrave , at the moment
Im posting this to help out some of the people posting teams in here. Ive copied it from somewhere else, and its written by someone far better than me at DT. I think its the best bit of DT advice Ive seen in a loing time. Hope it helps….
“On ******** comments on trades, I found that sometimes your rookie appreciation doesn’t quite cut it, and you can’t get into the cheap underpriced mid, and you have to do a 3 trade upgrade on a few occasions. I also think 14 premiums is probably unlikely given the wide pool of players and inflated early prices. I could see 13, a few in the midrange area, the rest rookies. This would leave probably 3 x 2 trade upgrades for midrange, 3 x 2 trade upgrades for the good rookies that go the way you want, and 3 x 3 trade upgrades for the ones that flubber a bit. 21 trades, means you can probably afford to make 3 errors. Like trading Sandilands in and out a few times.
the split would be 13 prems, 3 mid price, 14 rookies. And because I haven’t even done a side (won’t even start until the NAB is in full swing), I’m not sure that you can afford even that. Might need a few slightly sub premiums to be part of it – but the sort of premiums that need to be top 10 defender/forward material. I’m being very honest when I say that you can put them wherever you like and it probably won’t make a huge difference, so long as your midpricers improve, your prems hold their ground (and more importantly put a score on the board) and the rookies appreciate so you can cash cow them up into the prem zone. 3 mid price is the hard area to work out, it’s probably where the whole thing is won and lost. Everyone needs to gamble somewhere. Most will spread their losses probably in the forward and back divisions. Forward looks the spot where people will place 2 and defence 1. I’m still considering rucks for one midrange, and personally not really considering midfield for any. That said a player such as Coniglio could be considered a low-end midrange (rather than pure rookie) who will be held as the final upgrade target. Also you might want to classify rookies as a few different grades, because from true rookie upgrades (90k or thereabouts) and the Marty Clarke/Coniglio/Porplyzia (180k) there’s a heckuva difference. Certainly not something too many people have been analysing when they put so much energy in working out who out of Selwood or Pendlebury will score better. Who cares? They are set and forget prems. The rookies will find you out if you don’t get them bang on.”
I should also point out……when people speak of Guns + Rookies, its best to have some extra sub levels of classification. I use these and players in brackets are examples of what I mean…
Elite(Swan)
Premium(Dal Santo)
Mid-pricer/Fallen Premium(Gaff/Hayes)
Premium Rookie(Coniglio)
Rookie(Gibson)
Feel free to pick this apart, but I hope it helps some people out there…
good read, completly agree with the premiums set and forget, haven’t changed them since my original team, have only changed rookies, Good find mate :)
Great post DS. DT logic articulated very well.
do you think gibson is worth getting
“people… put so much energy in working out who out of Selwood or Pendlebury will score better. Who cares? They are set and forget prems. The rookies will find you out if you don’t get them bang on.”
This is spot on and it’s something a lot of people overlook. Your team is comprised of 30 players, not 22. This is why I’m so reluctant to start a rookie ruck, because I know I’ll be wasting my R4 spot if I do.
Interesting comment? This year similar to last presents the possibility that perhaps up to 3 or 4 rookie rucks could realistically find early game time (scoring/earning potential) One or two of those… Giles/Stephenson with potential to earn/score sufficiently to justify the second ruck position. Provided and obviously here is the risk…. one of Witts, Rowe, Longer, Redden (and maybe a couple of others)also gain selection early, then I dont see how by selecting one of these rooks in R4 your selection is wasted? All going well you will have a keeper R2 with a viable R3 on the bench after Round 13 as cover. I guess this is the “balls” in the Rookie R2 strategy……and hopefully the 250 – 300k you spent early on to allow upgrade of M4 from Hayes to Murphy/Selwood has paid dividends in scoring as well as avoided the need for additional trade in upgrade of midfield position, down the track???……………….”Best laid plans of mice and men”……………….Lol
@duffmeister Yes, I think Giles certainly has the potential to score well enough to justify being named as your second ruckman. Stephenson we’re yet to see but he does play in a high scoring team so he should score decently as well. My problem with it is that I’d be spending 100k on a player, whether it be Witts, Derickx, Redden, etc. who I’m almost certain won’t play that much. It’s a waste of money, because a player who isn’t playing isn’t making you any money, so there’s zero value in what you’ve spent. If I were confident that one of them will get a game on a regular basis, then starting Giles becomes a lot more enticing.
Stimulating discussion! Would it be illogical (logic has never been my strong point) to suggest the value is earned up front with the decision to spend only $114k on an R2 who eventually averages around the 80 – 85 point mark with increased price of around $400k. Ie: you are able to spend extra dollars in other positions (hopefully keepers) early? Assume Stephenson is R4 in two premo ruck strategy even if he makes the extra $300k you will probably look to downgrade to utilise the cash on upgrading to premo anyway? Does this make sense?????
Possibly, but that’s the same with every position isn’t it? If you picked up Heppell from the start for example there’s instant value there. I think the difference though is that if I had a throwaway fourth ruck, I’d be inclined to compare it to rookies in other positions. “What if I’d had Giles and Stephenson, on the bench, then I’d be able to pick Morris/Neale/Cameron/whoever instead of being stuck with Witts. I get that a lot of people want to take advantage of the strength of the ruck rookies by playing them on the field, but I don’t think Giles or Orren are going to score significantly higher than a rookie in another position if you choose them right. Maybe that’s the attraction – because the ruck rookies are so obvious there’s really no chance of you getting it wrong and being stuck with a Relton Roberts.
gd post
Heppell + Brown + FWD rook
or
Clarke + Pavlich + Porplyzia
Clark, Pavlich, Porps just I M O
clarke pav porp
Everyone NEEDS to know that Clarke has his own name tattooed on his back with a spelling mistake. It’s ye olde’ English type font and the a is wrong.
I love that shit. Egotistical wankers miss spelling their own name on their bodies! Yes!
It’s not cool…
which 2
gibson, pfeiffer, sheil, or neale
Gibson and Shiel
Gibson & Pfeiffer both need to be upgraded to senior lists. Shiel is injured. Neale is apparently Ross Lyon’s golden boy & he’s been playing well…
Gibson and shiel (if Gibson is upgraded)
Def: Goddard Birchall Heppel Conca Hargrave Smedts Darley (Brown, Wilkes)
Mid: Pendlebury Ablett Boyd Selwood NVB Mcdonald (Neale, Kavanagh)
Ruck: Sandilands Giles (Stephensen, Rowe)
Forwards: Franklin Beams Zaha Martin Christensen Porplyzia Walsh (Skinner, Kerridge)
Thoughts guys? still iffy on parts of it though
A very solid team. Potentially with a heap of merit, depending on your strategy & degree of risk preparedness. My only query (& it’s strictly a personal thing) would be your forwards & rucks. I’m not sold on the ability of all three of Beams, Zaharakis, or Christensen to deliver. Will Beams play a whole season this year & what will his role be? How are Zaharakis’ knees (he did play on the weekend; but was nursed through)? Christensen is only a second year player with a handful of games to his name; will he be able to justify the 330K he is currently commanding? Porpylzia evidently has a calf injury & has considerable history of bad luck with injuries. I would not go near him; others may disagree. I also think there are possibly more consistent types than Skinner & Walsh to choose from. I’m not in favour of the sole premium ruck approach. Again it’s a personal thing, but I wouldn’t be selecting Sandilands at all (& especially not as sole premium ruck). There are younger, more agile, up & coming ruckmen, that for me, make for far better ruck options. If you are sold on sole premium ruck I would suggest downgrading somewhere & splashing the cash on Cox (who was very, very impressive on the weekend). There is no guarantee Rowe will even get a game with Warnock, Hampson & Kruezer in the fold. Evidently Kruezer will be playing a lot more forward this year & only supporting in the ruck (i.e. the role Rowe would play if MK didn’t own the spot).
Thanks Vishnu, Gave it a look, what do you reckon about this team?
Def: Goddard, Birchall, Heppell, Conca, Hargraves, Smedts, Darley (Brown, Wilkes)

Need to consider MRB’s……….seven of your defenders will be missing in Round 13. Similarly four of your midfield in Round 11.

thoughts and advice please everyone.
Hey guys this is my team so far, looking for some suggestions and possible improvements:) Also, I was wondering if anyone knew how to change a team name on the dt talk site, as mine is from last year and I am not sure on how to do that.
DEF: Goddard, Birchall, Deledio, Grimes, Hargrave, CLarke, Morris (Bugg, Brown)
MID: Swan, Boyd, Rockliff, Ablett, Macdonald, Shiel (gibson, Treloar)
RUCK: Cox, Giles, (rowe, Stephenson)
FWD: Franklin, Goodes Pavlich, Robinson, Martin, Proplyzia, Cameron, (weedon, Hampton)
Pretty solid team. Do you have any money left?
not much mate about 4k, any thoughts on having just the one premium ruck?
One premo ruck is fine as long as you can find a 4th rookie ruck that will score enough to make some money. If I don’t find 3 playing rookie rucks round 1 then I will add another premo.
982291…. League number for West Coast fans only. Not many spots left so get on it.

Bye Week Analysis: (from Assistant Coach Analyser)
R11: 1/3/2/2=8
R12: 4/1/1/6=12
R13: 4/4/1/1=10
What do you think of the latter team and any improvements and player v player:
Rockliff v Mitchell
Fyfe v Martin (R12 is going to hurt my forward line a lot)
Swan v Boyd,
Clifton v Shiel (on a moon boot last Saturday night)
Any recommendations will be excellent :)
I don’t like the Leuey/McEvoy combo. By year’s end I still think Cox is a must, so I am inclined to etiher start with him, or start with only one ruck keeper.
I disagree. I think this year will see players like Leuenberger, McEvoy & Mumford bridging the gap between them & Dean Cox. Cox is still a complete standout. However, this year I don’t think the gap will be as apparent between him & these younger (but mature bodied) up & coming ruckmen.
When you combine Cox’s scoring potential and his durability, I can’t see any other ruckman getting close TBH. Cox scored nearly 2400 points last season. The only other ruckman I can see averaging over 100 is Sandilands, and he has durability issues, so I don’t think it’s that much of a stretch to suggest Cox might end up 200+ points ahead of the second best ruckman.
You are spot on Giants!! Come finals you will be wanting the best two ruckmen. Cox will be one of them but Im not sure of the second one.
I think for me the best plan is to start with Cox and then a rookie as second ruck, then upgrade when we have a better idea of who the next best we be. There are a few options so rather than getting it wrong I’ll wait and see.
Unfortunately I have 211 at the moment!! I better go find some extra cash!!!
….and I thought I would touch my side for a week!!!
You were right Rainman!!! Again!!!! Haha
PLEASE TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK –

Still not sure on some Rookies like pfeiffer, mitchel and their are a lot of mid rookies i am looking at so i might downgrade bartel and use the cash later on in the season or something.
let me know if i have missed a good rookie too or any suggestions you have
interesting pick of stanton is a very unique player. nothing wrong with it maybe, upgrade bartel, (don’t downgrade Bartel), but its a solid team, :)
stanton will kill you. trust me, i’ve been burnt before
Stanton will be a bit of a rollercoaster, he will pump out a few 150+’s and also some 70′s, if he can get his consistancy up he could be a great unique and average 110+.
Someone please rate my team! Thanks
DEF: Goddard, Deledio, Waters, Lake, Howard, Hargrave, Mohr (Bugg, Morris)

FWD: Chapman, Franklin, Pavlich, Martin, Christensen, D Smith, Hampton (Zorko, Kennedy)
CASH LEFT: $300
i was going to pick Lake and Hargrave too
but I think now that we should only pick one of them and the bye round 11 will kill your DEF,
Christensen I that will kill it this year and I think you need Fyfe
I don’t think the bye is that important with the mid-pricers. If they don’t put up keeper scores then they can just be traded out, if they do then they’ve more than made up for the resulting zero.
DEF- Too many Bulldogs and Waters is still having an ongoing issue with his elbow.
MID- Simular to most, looks good.
RUCK- Round 11 bye will hurt, you will miss Giles, Leuenberger and Jacobs.
FWD- Pretty solid, Chapman is very unique this year, but still a good selection.

your backs might be a little weak having Grimes as your 4th defender, But if he stays injury free your good, Byrnes is a iffy player, personally i would downgrade him to a rookie. (that could help upgrade Grimes).

Thanks in advance
Swanny??? good allround team, your forwards might be a bit weak, having christenson and brown, but could pay off. only downside really :)
I think swanny will start slow since he has put on wieght but go good at the end so he is a upgrade target for me

I have considered the byes and i have changed my team considering what do you think now ?
i like this team better IMO, but the main the descisions up to you :)
I like it bettter a lot as well
Does anyone else think that the First 10 DT talk group banner on the homepage is quite misleading? You could easily be fooled into thinking that the people who finish in the top 10 of the DT talk group win an Ipad.
Yer a little bit, certainly got me when i first saw it.
that would be a better way
Trivia question: What player is in everyone’s team that played 1 more game than S.Higgins in 2011?
Would have to be Buddy?
Indeed it would.
The difference though is that Buddy is a lock for top 5 forwards by average, whereas Higgins is still floating around the mid 80′s.
Yep, that’s a scary thought for me.
Of all the players in my team, I’m most worried that he’ll be the one that gets suspended when I most need him – during rounds 11 and 12. He’s a lark when he’s on fire and gives you the Shaws when he’s not.
Does it matter though? Even if he goes missing, you’ll hardly be alone in having that problem.
No. He’s a lock giants.
Jarred Mcveigh just on the radio here saying Tony Armstrong has had knee surgery in the off season and is a month behind the group, also unlikely for round 1.
Any comments would be appreciated!

Yeah, I”m not that keen on having four premiums with the same bye in the same position. Aside from that though, pretty strong if the rookies work.

I’m happy with my team except having a lazy $200k that I have no idea how to use!
I’ve only got 12 premos where 13 would be ideal. An option that I’m considering is Licka to a premium (say Zaka) but there are to many tasty mid-price fwd options (Brown, Porpy, Rohan) that I don’t want to waste.
What about Rowe to HMac… He will make good money and may well be a keeper?
Hmm yeah I could but with Giles looking awesome i think he’ll be a waste on the bench
What about grimes to heppell and winderlich to riewoldt
Hargraves to Broughton or Heppell
This move Rainman is suggesting will take your team up a point or two for sure
upgrade grimes or hargrave to a genuine premo.

To be honest I don’t know how you spent all that money and still your team is so shit!
Hit that clear button(on your computer screen and the one in your mind), have a good look through the dozens of other teams posted on this page & spend wisely ;)
Ha ha thanks for the feedback.
Id be interested in seeing yours mate and also interested how youve gone in passed years in terms of overall ranking. Sounds like your a bit of an expert..
I am an expert in preparing a master team, a February champion!
A genius you might say…. but all great men have there flaws…
Hitler, Bin Ladin, Me….
Mine is the trade, or better still, my addiction to trade. If and when I harness it, I will then be the greatest expert of them all, and I’ll have my Toyota to prove it.
Oh what a feeling “Maximus Maximus Maximus”
Ok then, just a parrot that gets on footy forums and talks crap to everyone. Hardly an expert or February champion as you put it. U still haven’t exposed your team either bin laden.
I reckon my starting lineup LY had the edge over your’s Maximus
what do u think of my team?

Gopies don’t go there brother, TKOL knows his shit. Doesn’t mind pumping his own tyres up too..’Maximus Maximus Maximus’
And bloody mate I read Simon’s comment first then actually saw your team….Your Rucks and Mids are no doubt prob the worst I’ve seen on here for ages. Nicnat leading?? your kidding aye
Nah I’m not kidding aye. Maximus oh Maximus!!! U been sucking Maximus off brappinalong??
Gopies it is clear to me that you are new here as you have no idea who you are talking to. Both TKOL and Brap are somewhat respected DTers.
It would serve you well to have a look at some other teams on this site and then have a look at yours and then start again.
Whilst TKOL does tend not to sugar coat his opinion he is correct. Your team does look to be “below par” at the moment. Do some more research and try again.
Respected dream teamers????
hahaha nah mate..I don’t like pin pricks, we’ve just known each other on here for a while now and had the highest DT talk type affiliated league LY 27th out of 14,000 odd leagues.
This year with the guys we’ve assembled will seriously be in contention for a top 10 overall league ranking…remember there’s about 15,000 leagues. So while you may not get Simon’s heroic’s and banter (perhaps he takes you fishing) many people on here enjoy his antics – It’s what makes a website like this humorous, entertaining and most of all FUN.
Chill out man, TKOL thinks he has the keys but in reality he still loses the key to his bedroom…’Mum n Dads’ house
Did I stutter? Am I speaking English?
Yes Respected DTers.
Gopies, its quite obvious your new around here, and just a heads up; you’re way out of your depth
Agreed

okay, TKOL might of been a bit harsh.

FWD: S. Johnson, L. Franklin, N. Fyfe, D. Martin, N. Haynes, T. Adams, A. Saad (J. Patton, T. Walsh)
CASH LEFT: $15, 500
There are better premo mids than Gibbs
Longer wont get many games with the recruitment of Hudsen
Patton is out till May
So get rid of the three of them
Swan and Riewoldt
Or
Selwood and Goodes
Swan and Riewoldt
Thats like a Vlado’s 700g eye fillet medium rare with a side of chevaps & 6 corona’s
vs
A private booth at Coco’s, Crown Casino with your own chef preparing a nine course Japanese masterpiece & a couple bottles of borossa shiraz!
Win Win!
Yeah..kind of my thinking…nice problem to have.
Oh Zan, such a dry response!
I’m sick of you’re top 15 boring clinical coaching views ;)
Rainman all 4 of these gentlemen should be in your initial team or close to it. Forget ‘Goddes’s’ slow starts….that’s so LY like when Rockly was an uber premo. Move with the time – by the way Rockliff lovers…when your side is ‘on the up’ (lol) serious teams will take you just that- serious and you may actually start getting intense tagging jobs to deal with weekly.
Oh but yeah Rocky man top 6 Mid EASY.
Can’t do Selwood as starting with Swan and Pendles… Not going for your upgrade to Swan strategy, although Joel will be top 5 mids this year if not top 2 i reckon. He ill make his way into the Rainmen in the latter part of the year.
Goodes is in at the moment, and working on fitting Nick in there as we speak. God how I wish for no byes :)
Lol and nice rocky rant btw!
I think it’s funny how Rocky was part of most peoples plans (even some of the DT boys) that fascination will wear off and as we’ve already witnessed blokes like Boyd will be in front of the pecking order, can’t wait to see Selwood and Thommo will prob rack up fiddy possies in 40 mins against port and it’s going the be a ripping Blues midfield this year if Judd,Gibbs and Marc all line up.
I think Carlton will have the best midfield in the comp- they just need a dominant ruck….enter past history Jacobs.
Yeah on the back of one season.
Agree about the blues, given they will run guys like Robbo, Ellard, Curnow, Simpson through there, they will have some decent scores. Yes Sauce would look good back in Navy blue.. As long as Warnock gets enough of a hand on it * snigger* we should be ok.
Keen to see those young crows this weekend
Johnston, L is one mature BIG bodied guy who I think could slot into our back 6. Truck’s injured so Talia, Thompson,Symes even Hendo will battle to take the big talls.
As a Crows supporter it’s heartbreaking to think only a few years ago we only leaked 68pts a game. A younger Truck,Bock,Stevens, emerging Davis and a steaming Stiffy running off halfback made our defence the best…pity we had an adverage fwd line. Tex Walker will kick more goals then Tippett TY and you can take that to the bank!!
Surely Goodes and Selwood?
Don’t rate Roo?
Why would you rate Roo when Watters has openly stated he will be rested a few times throughout the year!
It seems I have missed this (probably because I haven’t given him any genuine consideration myself).
selwood and goodes
Who is a good cheap midfielder/defender/foward to get?
Who is a good cheap midfielder/defender/forward to get?
I NEED HELP!!!!!!
It is…Ah, but for a second there, you were really worried!
Hargave / bugg /smedts – btw there is no good cheap /defender
McDonald/Hayes
porplyzia / maybe Rowe – Beams all Da Way!!!
maybe look at tomlinson from GWS. i know he’s KP but he looked pretty good the other night and you could use him and smedts as DPP links between forward and backline.
gia + christensen
v
sidebottom + brown?
second one
Sidebottom and Christianson
the reason that i can’t have both sidebottom and christensen is because then i won’t have a premium/keeper forward who has a round 11 bye which means in round 12 i would be missing sidey, christensen and fyfe.
L.Neale
or
D.Sheil
or
S.Clifton
Hi all.
For what it’s worth…….
Goddard, Enright, Birch, Heppell, Hargrave, Bugg, Wilkes. (Morris, Sierakowski)
Swan, Boyd, Ablett, Selwood, Conilglio, McDonald. (Baguley, Gibson)
Leuenburger, Giles. (Stephenson, Rowe)
Johnson, Franklin, Goodes, Sidebottom, Brown, Porp, Pfeiffer (Cameron, Weedon)
Still a lot of NAB to process to figure out if this is close.
Can anyone tell me if S . Hurn is worth picking up?
Plenty of people have Hurn on the radar Jorn. Played well in the first game and it’s likely he’ll increase in average this year. Keep a look out for the rest of the pre-season.
thanks for that, ill keep an eye on him and he may very well make it into my team
Response 1) you try picking him up – he is one massive dude!
Response 2) you can attempt to pick him up with a swingin smooth line but he may take offence and punch you in the nose…
ha ha ha
Guys what’s the better combo:
1. Cox & Clifton or;
2. Berger & Winderlich?
First option IMO.
Defenders
1. Enright C, Deledio B, Broughton G, Thompson S, Hargrave R, Clarke M, Darley S, Morris S, Brown L,
Midfielders
2. Boyd M, Ablett G, Rockliff T, Jelwood Thompson S, Pfeiffer D, Mcdonald J, Gibson S,
Rucks
3. Leuenberger M, Giles J, Derickx T, Stephenson O
Forwards
4. Franklin L, Robinson M, Giansiracusa D, Sidebottom S, Brown J, Kennedy A, Walsh T, kerridge S, Rowe S
Any thoughts would be appreciated criticism changes anything cash left $34, 400
Couple of uniques that could pay off. Very strong mid field which should see you shoot out the blocks!
Am getting vibes Swan is going walkabout in his head..any truth here?
think uve gone walkabout in your head mate
Ignore him at your peril my friend. Could out core most “premos” whilst sitting back getting freak ink.
He is the best ever DTer for a reason.
..point taken, not going anywhere from my team at the minute..just a vibe I felt.
I have toyed with the idea of “downgrading” him to Selwood..but then I remember he is Swanny. May be I will be “unique” starting with him
Apparently Swan has Vegemite, Sellwood.. Marmite, Swan for me, vibes and all.
Anyone have big enough balls to take a punt on Hamish Hartlett? has had a injury riddeled career but he managed something like 16 games last year for an average of around 90, he is an absolute gun, Ports best player IMO (not hard to do). He was a very high draft pick for a reason, could have a massive year if he stays injury free, around about the price of Shuey, Slone. Personally im not going to risk it, just putting the thought out there
Geez it is an enormous risk…not For the faint hearted and you would have to think Shuey, Sloane and co would be better placed. But with huge risk goes huge reward…unless you pick a port player!
Note: he is very unique..currently owned by 0.7% of teams…I am guessing all the Hartlett family.
Me thinks you are part of the Sloane family Rainman. Am currently an in law looking to see how he may perform in the next few weeks.
Lol…nice one… Just like his numbers!
Hartlett could be a master stroke..just needs to stay on the park!
@Rainman
I understand you have both Sloane and Hayes in your side as M4 & M5, am tossing up between them and Shuey for Barlow’s replacement. For now if you had to decide between them who would you choose?
Cheers
Any suggestions for a $150,000 -$200,000 dpp def?????
Warnie this site has to be moderated better.
get your drift..just ignore the rubbish.

Remaining salary : $79,900
Any ideas, I’m toying with changing some backline.
Cheers
Patton will miss the start of the season, he’s been out for a fair while now. Zorko and Shiel are also injured, but I think they’ll both be back by round 1.
As a parting shot before bed after a red too many..any great team can be decimated by injuries to key players, resting of key players,..just a bit of bad luck on the way. Conversely, pick some good ones who stay on the park….
@adamant
Mate hard to say without seeing your structure and understanding your strategy for the year….however based on numbers.
Lenny – priced at 72, last 2 full seasons he had didn’t average under 106 (I think) has a good draw especially early, he will score well and will make you at least $100 k. The cons are obvious, knee holding up, he is getting older.
Sloane – Thomson and NVB should cop most of the attention from opposition teams ( not to say this will negatively affect their scoring, ESP thommo) and if this guy is as good as I think he is I think he will really shine. Plays a similar style to thommo and just looks like the man in waiting. Cons are he just doesn’t live up to it and not sure of the impact of sando.
Shuey- man this kid can play. I think it was TKOL that brought up the point the other day. With Le Cras going down and his mooted move to the mids it now means that whoever was going to run with Frenchy will now be running with the Shue. He has already made a name and because he is so much more of a kicker than Sloane, he in my mind would be viewed as more dangerous ( think Rich for Bris ). Having said all of that everything is primed for him to explode.
My random thoughts, not sure if any of it helped :)
Cheers for that mate definatley helped :)
At this stage I think I’ll will be going with Lenny as he is the proven scorer amongst the three, however I will watch Sloane very closely on Sunday under Sando and hopefully he can sneak a spot in my team.
somehow Shuey AND Gaff have made it in to my team?
im a devout WCE fan so am I being too bias?
there’s too much upside to them!
gotta risk it to get the biscuit though?
Hey guys made a few small changes to my team and wondering what everyone thinks. i am also wondering if anyone has any ideas on what to do with porplyzia as I am not that keen to start with him anymore. thanks :)
DEF: Goddard, Deledio, Birchall, Gilbert, Hargraves, Clarke, Morris (Bugg, Brown)
MID: Swan, Ablett, Rockliff, Boyd, Mcdonald, Treolar (Gibson, Shiel)
Ruck: Sandilands, Giles ( Stephenson, Rowe)
FWD: Franklin, Fyfe, Pavlich, Martin, Zaharakis, Porplyzia, Cameron (weedon, Hampton)
solid team for this time of year
may want to rethink for bye structure –
4 x R13 byes in the backs (all keepers too)
4x R11 rook mids – not the biggest problem
and yes porps….IMO go another rookie…walsh, smedts ect
cheers 4 the reply, Yeah its either restructure a little or what i’m thinking at the moment of letting round 13 go. Disappointing about props….he’s a gun to!
Enright, Shaw, Broughton, Heppell all viable options IMO and a R12 bye
trying to find R11 premiums for balance (not lake or hargave) that’s the hard bit
ahh cheers mate:) definetly looking at them, looking very closely at broughton but inconsistency and new coach is a little worrying.
If you wanted to get rid of Porps I would go him to a rook then either gilbert or hargrave to a genuine premo.

West Coast Eagles League – 1 Spot – Code: 742402
Some great reads on this page! Keeping the traIn trip interesting. Rain man I’m looking forward to the league you and I are in you really know your shit!
Thanks mate.. Can’t wait for the real stuff to begin :)
Guys is there any love for Shaun Burgoyne? Would he be a better pick than Sam Gilbert?
Could go either way… However Gilbert has a higher ceiling so I would go with him
Gday guys,
First ever post, been reading these forums for a while and have got a lot out of it so thought it was about time I joined.
Please let me know what you think of my team, cheers

lots of DT talk strategies employed in this team. looks pretty balanced and could perform well… I would maybe worry about the forward line but just my opinion. if those rookies come good then you have less worries.
Theres a couple of things I would consider
1. You may be pulling your hair out with that back line. Broughton, Gilbert and Hargrave are all a bit of a risk. I had broughton last year and he frustrated the hell out of me. Maybe choose one or two of them and swap one for someone a bit more reliable
2. Morabito is listed as doubtfull for the beginning of the season. Could be a good downgrade target
3. Your fwd rookies look a bit iffy with Saad and skinner maybe not in the best 22.
thanks fellas,
yeah probably too many mid pricers and iffy rooks, hopefully the nab show me will show me some more soild rooks.
cheers for the heads up on Morabito too
