    Welcome back guys. Good advice on trades especially since I have Mitchell Boyd Shuey in my mids and Hitchcock and Roberts in my forward line. I am tempted to downgrade Danger or Hall to POds to free up cash to trade Shuey to Swan.

    I better take note of the community service announcement and sit tight and maybe cop a doughnut this week , right Warnie?

        Thanks Warnie. I am still tempted by Hitchcock to Pods if Hitchcock gets dropped. But I hear “dont trade side ways ” and “Hitchcock is not ready to be milked yet” , and “wait until round 6-9″, but the devil in me wants to trade when i see a bargain like Pods or Swannie for that matter.
        Don’t you love DT? What do I do after September?

    Whats everyone’s opinion of Warren, worth keeping another week or worth the trade to downgrade to pods? The same might go for Danger but hes more likely to get a higher score

      Hang tight with him imo. He hasn’t played that well yet in struggling side, but really hasn’t lost any money either. If he pulls 1 or 2 big game (80′s) u will benefit from that as well as have better idea of who to upgrade him to!!!!

    warnie, what is your opinion on how many people from each team you should have in your team. currently, i have: steve johnson, enright and bartel all from geelong and have enough coin to buy ablett. My only problem is, is four players from the one team too many? i dont want to overload my team in case they have a really bad game and all of them dont get good scores

      My nephew has Ablett, Bartel,Corey,Chappy,Johnson & Duncan and scored just under 2100!
      I guess they are such a high possession side which helps, plus kicking 20+ goals most weeks doesn’t hurt either!

      I did some last minute shuffling before the round 1 lockout only to find in horror that I had SIX fremantle players (5 on field, 1 on bench). Fortunately of those players, the only one I actually regret (and i still think he has the potential to come good), is Ballantyne. Indeed, the last few weeks I have resisted the urge to put Alex Silvagni on the field simply because I would have 6 freo players playing, thats more than 1/4 of my team! Of course it turns out that each week Silvagni would had done better than my 7th back and it has cost me points!

      While spreading out your players is good, at the end of the day I think you just have to pick the player thats gonna put the most points on the park and lets be honest there are not going to be too many players that put more points on your score than Gablett. There will not be many weeks when having too many geelong players is going to bite you in the bottom.

    quality episode boys.

    absolutely hate sideways trades, sure i’m starting to think that luke ball is mince (the kid went totally missing and the pies still ran over the hawks) but you gotta keep faith. same goes for warren etc.

    anyone know dane swans break even, have the cash to uprgade from connors after the mitch clark, reiwoldt nonsense but maybe will wait a week if he is going to dip a little. same goes for selwood and hayes.

      According to FanFooty, Swan’s breakeven this week is 126. Pies play the bombers then Tigers in the next fortnight. Swan may be close to bottoming out. I’m not sure how people are scoring against the Bombers but he should smash the Tigers, unless Jackson tags him out? But I doubt that. Might be worth the risk to wait one more week. But that’s my (probably wrong) opinion.

    I don’t really mind that Seaby is doing shit because Tippett (who i traded him in for) is doing just as bad or worse, Seaby can lift and whip out another 100+ game…and Tippett is carrying injuries

        haha Tom you DUMB SHIT! How many games are played in Tassie a year? I dont give a f**k who comes from there, im well aware Tassie has produced some footballing legends. But lets just clarify;

        You have no actual side! And get about 3 games a year out of f**king sympathy because the rest of the nation feels sorry for all you inbreds. The AFL is actually putting 2 sides into the AFL in states that already have them not to mention Rugby states over giving you guys a team.

        I reckon New Zealand are more of a chance that getting a side than Tassie.

        All i was merely suggesting to the DT boys was to get of the island, come to the main land, but an AFL membership and watch as many live games at the G and Etihad as you want.

            And yes it has prodcued some quality footballers.

            Im just saying it must suck, to not have your own side. I know if i loved football as much as you guys do and it was prodimently played in Tassi i would move there for the season. Its all about getting amongst it!!

      Nah, not with Gibson still out, he’ll always drop deeper in defence. Sewell’s inclusion along with Young having got his first game under his belt will affect Peterson and to a lesser extent Rioli. Hodge is too good not to rack it up.

      Hodge will only benefit from having another gun back. Hodge is a his DT best when he has freedom to run where he likes and take on the play. Drops back 4 marks in defence, roams fwd and kicks goals etc………..
      Against the Pies on the weekend he dominated the first half and fell away in 2nd when the game had been lost, so as i see it the longer the Hawks stay in the game the bigger scores he will get!!!!!!

    Harry O’Brien is pissing me off. Has a great NAB Cup, scores 100 in his first game in the season proper, and since then has three successive scores of 60. Not f**king good enough Harry!!! The only thing saving him is that I’ve also got Waite who is another teaser stallion whose worth in my team still can’t be determined. Throw into the mix Rick Ladson, another c**t, this time because he goes missing for entire quarters like a forward-pocket and there’s three blokes who I have to sit on and hope they go the right way. Obviously Ladson is untouchable at the moment because he’s not fat enough but you other two had better pull your fingers out.

    Bit off topic I know but was wondering if virtualsports had given you any idea of what is going to happen with the bye next year for DT? Obviously the most logical way to deal with it would be to give blokes their average score when they not playing, but wasn’t sure if they had given you an indication of any other system they might use until the waste of space GWS enters the comp (should be a Tassie team in my mind, but Demetriou is obviously a knob)?

      Never thought of the average thing, not a bad idea. I could see it being somehow exploited though. People trading for guns not playing and then making them captain to win league games perhaps?

      One approach would probably be an extended bench and slightly bigger salary cap. This is touch and go though as it would give you the ability to load more premiums into your side from the start which could have a slight impact on the important of rookies.

      I think by far the best option would be a substitute system. If you have say 2 collingwood players and they have the bye this week. Then you can simply sub them to any other player for the round for the same or lesser value. This would add a whole new dimension and strategy to the game and would be a refreshing change.

      So if I had Swan 500k and Medhurst 300k, it would give me 800k of subs for the week for these 2 players. You would obviously have to replace them in the same spots but you could downgrade swan to say selwood for 400k and then have 400k left to go medhurst to steve johnson. Then at the end of the week the players go back into your side. I think that would make the game so much more amazing! And a lot of straetgy could go into it, especially if your subs could be captain. Bring in a gun and put a C on him because they are playing Richmond.

        Too complicated I reckon, they won’t do that… maybe just keep it the same as it is now, increasing the importance of having bench players that play and not having too many from 1 club. :)

      Ha ha, CC’s is up 2mrw night and I’m still not sure who I want to give a hammy injury to this week.
      Wont be Hodgey though. his record at Aurora in 2009 was bad and his history Vs Nth isn’t great.
      Maybe Mitchell is due to make his last weeks injury a little worse :)

          That’s not up to me haha. Rockliff was most damaging in the last quarter when the game was on the line. He created two or three assists for shots on goal playing as an attacking midfielder/half forward. Any fair-minded observer would say that he definitely had more impact on the game than either Redden or Rich which bodes well for his job security at this stage.

          I traded volt for him last week and am teetering on the brink of thinking I need Pods too. I’m not convinced that he’ll play as many games, but with so many peeps trading for him, the situation might develop that there becomes the haves and the have-nots. If you don’t have him and he smashes it, you’re rooted and if you have him and he goes no good, you haven’t really lost a whole lot and would at least have got some cash out him.

            Also thinking I need to bring in Rockliff and Pods (The 2 fwd rookies I started with prior to round 1 teams). Roo to Rockliff looks likely. Gumby probably wont make that much more so him to Pods gives me 70 000 plus Pods price rise which will go close to 70 000. I will drop a keeper but will have 440 000 plus Rock n Pods price rise to play with later. Their job security is the main issue but surely Rock, Pods and Peterson wont all get dropped I’m hoping

            You don’t really need to trade for both, Petersen is scoring fine and rising in price nicely…

            But if you absolutely feel like trading for both Rock and Pods, I’d leave Gumby in your squad and trade out Petersen… Sure Gumby’s a bit of a spud, but he has far more job security than Petersen! As long as Gumby is fit, Knights will play him… so he can just sit there as your 9th forward and provide cover if you cop a couple of injuries at the same time.

            Plus you’ll have extra money in the bank by trading out Petersen.

      Depending on who else you have, I would consider both with the thought at least one of them will probably be you 8th forward from here on in! There will probably more good rookies later but these guys look good now and why not jump on. That will also give you lots of cash for future weeks upgrading other guys.

            Thanks everyone…. its tough.
            I already benched Ziebell and gumby, Zieb will be emergency. I have similar issues with my Backline and who I should put on the bench but atleast back there the difference in scoring each week isn’t like it is in the forwards… so hit and miss this year.

    @ Mcscoundrel – Podsi looks more like a CHF type with Mooney in the team. Watching him against Freo many of his marks were lead ups from about 40m to the centre. Lats week against Port, he tended to double back much more and take the majority of marks inside forward 50. In saying that though, there wasn’t much of a need to lead up past the 50 as the ball was being pumped in that often. I would use the Freo game as a greater source and say more typically a CHF.

      Gibbs, Pendlebury, Judd, O’Keefe all good options but you’d probably want to wait a week on all but O’Keefe. I waited a week on Riewoldt to get Podsaidly, for a long term injured player going out it’s not the worst thing when you can get another week to judge what’d happen… as long as you have bench cover of course!

        I’ve decided Roo to Pods and Martin to Swan.
        I’m not worried about Pod’s job security, and besides the $367,200 cash injection, its nice to know Pods will be worth around $250,000 ($281,400 according to ffgenie) in 3 weeks time. Games against CARL & RICH, help that cause!

    k simpson, bgibbs, M murphy, c judd, (the thing with carlton players is they have all played crap teams) adelaide, richmond and essendon (brisbane) and the next 4 games r geelong, saints, collingwood and port

      i’d downgrade sum1 else to pods, pocket the cash and leave relton on the bench eating his sangas. that way u get immediate cash injection, and hopefully pods will stick around, improve his price to somewhere between 250-300k and u can then upgrade him to a prem late season

      i’m waiting to see whether ash hams can nail a spot with west coast, he’s priced at 77k. played one game so potential downgrade of either goose or nason to hams could make about 150k plus. whether he can hold a spot is the thing tho, hurn back this week, butler in two weeks i think. brad sheppard could also break in for wce soon, he was named as east freos bog this week in his first game back. phil davis also played first game for crows this week. keep an eye on those three at the mo.

    If ball performed well my mid field would be fine, Swan and Bartel are ok. Ball has been a little bit of a dissapointment. Shiels comes back in this week i hope after his suspension, and barlow and bastinac to start. Really tempted to upgrade Ball now to Goddard. I have to save my trades.
