I’ve broken this column down into three categories; Studs, Value and Match ups. The studs are the backbone of your team, these are the guys that will score you the most points (hopefully!) Value plays are players that are cheap for the amount of points they are capable of putting up for the game. They allow you to fit more studs into your team. Match ups are players that might be playing a team that’s weak in a specific position. They might be a mixture of studs, mid-priced and value. If you’re tossing up between two players, it generally helps to go the one with the better match up. Balancing out these three categories will give you the best chance of scoring well.
Week 5 contests
Tom Brady, QB, New England, $9,200
The Superbowl rematch is predicted to be a high-scoring affair and I expect Brady to bounce back from his 10 points last game.
Julio Jones, WR, Atlanta, $8,800
The Patriots allow the most yardage to opposing receivers this season.
Dak Prescott, QB, Dallas, $8,400
San Francisco have given up over 300 yards to the last three QBs they’ve faced.
Dez Bryant, WR, Dallas, $8,200
The Niners give up the 11th-most fantasy points to wide receivers.
Melvin Gordon, RB, LA Chargers, $7,700
Has scored over 30 points the last two games and has a tough match up versus Denver, althought they were gashed by Darkwa last week.
Brett Hundley, QB, Green Bay, $6,500
Has a range of skilled weapons at his disposal, surely he can’t mess it up too badly?!
Austin Seferian-Jenkins, TE, NY Jets, $5,900
Has scored a touchdown in his last two, and should’ve had two last week. Meets Miami who give up points to TEs.
Orleans Darkwa, RB, NY Giants, $5,200
Put up 13.5 points last week and meets Seattle who have allowed over yards to RBs over their last few.
Eric Decker, WR, Tennessee, $5,100
Had seven receptions for 88 yards last week and looks to build on that versus Cleveland.
Adrian Peterson, RD, Arizon, $5,100
Found the fountain of youth prior to last week’s game and put up 25.4 fantasy points. Meets LA who give up the most on the ground.
Ezekiel Elliott, RB, Dallas, $8,700
We’ve got Zeke for at least another week, and he’s facing the 49ers who give up the second-most points to RBs.
Devonta Freeman, RB, Atlanta, $7,800
There should be plenty of points put up and the Patriots give up the third-most fantasy points to RBs this season.
Mark Ingram, RB, New Orleans, $7,100
Green Bay have a new QB who may struggle, which means the Saints may have to lean on Ingram again this week.
Jerick McKinnon, RB, Minnesota, $7,000
Averaging around 22 fantasy points the past fortnight, comes up against a Ravens defence that allows over 140 yards per game.
Jarvis Landry, WR, Miami, $7,000
Scored a TD in his last two, coupled with double-digit targets in those same games.
