Hi there Moneyballers. Welcome to the big $5,000 Saturday Slam where winning cash is on the agenda for today.
$5,000 with the winner taking $650 and its pays $34.18 right down to 89th
Essendon v Kangaroos 1:45pm
Melbourne v Port Adelaide
Bulldogs v Gold Coast
Sydney v St Kilda
Fremantle v Hawthorn 7:40pm
Jack Gunston (FWD, $7,300)
For the record, I’m all over Gunston today. Last week we took 8 marks and only had 2 touches inside the front 50m. With 56% of his touches won across half back, he will rack up tonight just like Hurn (34d, 14m = 137pts) and Duggan (31d, 11m = 124pts) did last week across the half back against the Dockers.
Kieren Jack (MID, $7,400)
Cheap = $7,400… tick
Form = 112, 90, 125 in his last 3… tick
Opponent = Essendon had 7×100+ scores on the Saints last week… tick
With more time in the midfield after sitting forward for the first half of the year, Jack is back and should be good to go for another 100+ score today at the SCG.
Toby McLean (FWD, $7,700)
Apparently Toby has taken over the role of Dahlhaus in the middle and his numbers certainly show this to be the case. Over the last month he has averaged 105 with 107 and 127 coming in his last two games.
He plays the Gazless-Suns at Cazaly’s Stadium today and should be locked in to continue the hot streak he is in.
Nick Larkey (DEF, $3,500)
We all need some cheap meat in our teams and Larkey (along with Marshall below) are my picks of the bunch today.
Larkey scored 91 in his last VFL game and despite the fact he only averages 57 for the year, he gets his chance today. By rolling with kids like this, enables us to hunt for the big boys like Tom Mitchell (could go 180 today) and if he can scrape together a 60, it’s a tick.

Rowan Marshall (RUC, $3,500)
Hickey is out and Marshall is in.
This kid averaged 77 in the VFL and gets his first crack at the big time today against a ‘ruckless’ Sydney attack.
I’m not expecting too much from the lad, but as I said, a 60 here is well worth the ride at his price, especially when we can now go shopping for some of the big boys.
Connor Blakely (MID, $9,100)
How can you not?
Blakely’s form has been outstanding in recent weeks with scores of 149 and 135 and has really taken his game to a whole new level. With an increased time of ground (TOG), this was always going to be the case and all he needed was bloody Ross Lyon to give him what he actually needed.
2016: TOG: 62%. Average: 75
2017 Pre-Bye: TOG: 76%. Average: 87
2017 Post-Bye: TOG: 91%. Average: 130
As we already know, Hawthorn are the easiest team to score against this year and are always bleeding points to their opposition.
Blakely should have a field day, tonight at his home ground and even though he clogs up a midfield spot, he was my first player picked for this one.
Good luck for today guys and as always, play responsibly and win some ca$h.
