The Preseason

Lions v Dogs – Opening Round Cheat Code

Warnie watched Brisbane v Western Bulldogs through his Fantasy glasses.

Warnie’s look at some of the Fantasy relevant names from Brisbane v Western Bulldogs and whether we should include them in our Fantasy teams… (feel free to add your takes in the comments).

This post appeared on our Patreon earlier. If you would like to get the early drop of articles, consider signing up as a member. We will have plenty of pre-season content, including team reveals this week … and then we get into the regular stuff: Rollin’ 22 and Trade Talk, Captains, bonus podcasts, live streams and more.

Dayne Zorko (DEF, $1,065,000) 🐽

SCORE: 142 (82% TOG)
PRICED AT: 102

Bloody hell. He doesn’t stop. 31d, 11m, 4t, 1g … a few scraps and my god, he will cotinue on as a 37yo. Could be tempting to start, but I don’t think I would go there.

Keidean Coleman (DEF, $559,000) ✅

SCORE: 73 (74% TOG)
PRICED AT: 53

Let’s be honest, this would’ve been your line. 20 points on his priced at figure. It felt like he was higher up the ground, but had some decent stints on the bench – including the end of the game. While this should be a tick for what he’s done, I’m on the fence on starting him. I need to sleep on this one.

Josh Dunkley (MID, $1,128,000) 📉

SCORE: 73 (76% TOG)
PRICED AT: 108

The most interesting part of this is how we might see those defensive midfielders score (I’m unsure of what Steele’s upside could be for example…). In any case, we’ll see Dunks’ price drop.

Zane Zakostelsky (DEF/RUC, $230,000) ❌

SCORE: 55 (44% TOG)
PRICED AT: 22

Held his own in the ruck against English/Darcy/Croft with 16ho. Kicked a snag and managed three marks and three tackles. The sub-50% TOG is why he’s a cross… and we’ll see Sam Draper pretty soon. Fort had 64 ruck contests with ZZ having 40. Not a bad effort in his limited TOG. Maybe he could be your R3 if you’re going to throw it away anyway?

Hugh McCluggage (MID, $1,072,000) 🤕

SCORE: 20 (17% TOG)
PRICED AT: 102

A genuine under-priced premium to watch as his price will head south quickly.

Ed Richards (MID, $1,014,000) ✅

SCORE: 133 (81% TOG)
PRICED AT: 97

We’ve seen a very nice rise from Richards in the last few seasons. A genuine Fantasy premium the way he plays. 30d, 8m, 4t and 2g. Huge return. Would be unique, but with the R3 bye, it’s a hard one.

Tim English (RUC, $1,162,000) ✅

SCORE: 108 (85% TOG)
PRICED AT: 111

Had that big 131 in the AAMI game last week and ownership rocketed up. He had 78 ruck contests with Darcy (16) and Croft (10) chopping out. Was his score enough for us? I’m still keen. 16d, 5m is akright to go with his 37ho. English kiced two goals… and had the better of the frees for getting 5 (Fort gave 5 away).

Connor Budarick (FWD, $506,000) 🔒

SCORE: 94 (82% TOG)
PRICED AT: 48

A bit of a must-start priced at under 50 and with 94 in his average. But it’s not just that, it’s the role. He came as advertised all pre-season with the role in D50. He was entrusted as the kick-in guy having 8 (7 play on). Dale 4 (3), Lobb 2 (2) and Jaques 2 (1) the others.

Lachie Jaques (DEF, $230,000) 🔒

SCORE: 76 (76% TOG)
PRICED AT: 22

Second year on the list, Jaques Kallis has his chance! 14k, 2hb, 4m, 4t … this is enough for us to have him on our bench as most do. The key to this is that a number of rookies are putting their hand up. The Warne Dawgs may go with Rozee, Colby, Windsor, Blakiston and two rookies on field.

Michael Sellwood (DEF, $230,000) ✅

SCORE: 61 (83% TOG)
PRICED AT: 22

We love a mature-aged recruit. Sellwood ended up with 10 touches, but most impressive was his 7 tackles. The score was there to see cash gen kick started. We will be in a position to be picking anc choosing. Where is he in the rookie rankings?

Co-captain of DT Talk since we started this thing in 2007. Best finish was 13th in 2009... that was a long time ago. Follow on Twitter: @WarnieDT and follow on Instagram: @warnedawgs.
