The Weekend Wash-Up | Whithouse | Round 15

The wash-up has arrived.

There’s just one week of byes left and I’d say I can’t wait for it to be over, but I’ll miss these best 18 lifelines and the 3 trades per week! I need all the help I can get. It’s time for your weekly fantasy therapy session, it’s time for the weekend wash-up!

LEGENDS

Docherty (131) – Now, was it his best ever game? Nope. Do we give a sh*t? Absolutely not! Old Doch was BACK taking a whopping 16 marks and even getting his kick ins back. Yes he didn’t look as clean as his old self but he was about the only bloody blue bagger out there actually having a dip, and while he has that role he’s going to score like a premium. That’s a monster score for his cash gen and simply a monster score when we needed it the most, absolute legend Doch.

NWM (125) – Has taken his game to a whole new level this season, averaging 109 across the season including 123 in his last 3 with back to back scores of 125 plus. He had 35 disposals including 7 marks, and is currently D1 on averages! As a non-owner, can an opposition team stop the Saints only player from having 25 kicks per game? Just a thought.

Jackson (144) – Wow. It was as easy a matchup as you could ask for, but Jackson took it to a whole new level with 48 hitouts, 21 disposals and 3 unbelievable snags. Is Sean Darcy stays out of the team the lid is off, however there is a ceiling he is capped too while the Darceole is out there. Still a top 6 forward regardless.

Serong (137) – If there was a team out there who weren’t sure who they should tag, I think Caleb Serong settled that debate. He is too bloody good to run free, and he isn’t capable of handling a tag. Yet. The next 2 weeks will be a true test but Serong was a no brainer pickup before the byes.

Clark (133) – The Dockers chip bros racked up and they won…? Huge flag that it was only Essendon but Clark looked great. POD.

Ryan (127) – No thank you.

Caldwell (109) – A quiet game here for M1, just the 5 tackles after not having one in the first half hurt. L5 118 by the way, make him a priority after his bye.

Zorko (124) – Another 83 point second half as the Zork just finds a way to get it done in style. He was a no brainer 6 weeks ago, don’t second guess these freebies.

AFL 2025 Round 15 - Geelong v Brisbane - A-60129533

Dunkley (124) – What a massive return for those who held, and a massive **** you to those that traded. 30 disposals and 10 tackles, WHERE had this Dunks been?! Inevitable.

W.Ashcroft (108) – There’s no denying Will is a big game player, and quite frankly he beat up on Bailey Smith head to head at stoppages. Elite performance.

Sheezel (116) – Harry Sheezel once again lit up his heat map, pushing up the ground and into stoppages. Tick. Just explain to me why the hell you wouldn’t have him at the CBAs. His ceiling remains capped, but when he’s scoring 115’s every week who the hell cares.

Powell (113) – Tommy the Power Powell! The vision was there.

Cerra (109) – Don’t look now but Adam Cerra has a L5 of 113 and is over $1M. Up there with the picks of the season, and he’s getting even better. Gun.

Grundy (121) – The Power double team was working until 3Q time, when Grundy piled on a quarter pounder to finish the game with Sweeta in the vest. He just keeps going 120 and it’s getting harder to deny the ruck pig is back.

AFL 2025 Round 15 - Port Adelaide v Sydney - A-60158859

Heeney (111) – Heendog has been a pleasant surprise for me. Grabbing him for $880k and trusting the ability and role has worked out, as he carries a L5 of 105 and has been a brilliant mid-season value pick up.

Butters (107) – An 81 point first half means this is a disappointing finish. I refused to watch the second half of that game but I assume a hard tag went Butters way in the 2H. Tags are the only concern.

Cameron (128) – Gun, but probably not even in the top 5 fantasy rucks. Amazing.

Witts (138) – Took advantage of facing young Madden and delivered a massive score for his draft owners.

Anderson (133) – 42 and 2, Noah Anderson is capable of some pretty handy performances. When he hits $950k, you just get on board. Lesson learnt.

Miller (131) – What a throwback performance, gun.

Green (119) – Can I say… Unders? I thought he was tracking for the 130+ I wanted, but this performance and his easy run means Tom Green is a must hold this week. He’s in the mix for that top 8 after all.

Callaghan (113) – My season turned sour as soon as this legend went down. Finn is the next gun midfielder of the competition. L7 105!

English (138) – L3 132, I think it’s safe to say Tim English fantasy superstar is back! Aaaaand he isn’t even in the conversation for top 2 rucks. Amazing.

Bont (120) – What a performance. When you get the chance to grab Bont for $950k, I think you do it and ask questions later.

Kennedy (114) – I don’t know how he does it, once again Matt Kennedy found a way to his 107-114 after a slow start. His CBA numbers are hovering around 50% yet he is scoring with the best of them, and I can’t argue it anymore. LEGEND!

Darcy (114) – If you’re like me and way (WAY) out of the top 100 race, the game is much funner with Sam Darcy in your team. If you are in the race, here is a guy averaging 100.5 in a position where we are struggling to find 6 guys capable of averaging close to that and he’s also $830k, a unicorn and future superstar. Do it.

AFL 2025 Round 15 - Western Bulldogs v Richmond - A-60192022

LOSERS

Rozee (79) – Piss ant. I went through this sh*t last year, watched him take the Michael Jamieson for 3 months straight, yet 2 minutes into the game when he got nailed holding the ball I knew it was over before it started. Jordan actually went and stood next to him, might have touched him. Accidentally breathed on him? And that was that for Connor. Cincotta next week, fantastic. What a time to trade him in.

Merrett (57) – Lord have mercy. Just when you think it couldn’t get worse, Zach Merrett was completely shut out of a game by Fremantle’s Corey Wagner. 17 disposals, 1 mark and 3 tackles. That’s frankly embarrassing. I’m starting to think he just doesn’t care anymore, and when you look at what he has given this Essendon team and what he has gotten back, it’s probably fair. Surely, SURELY he bounces back with some easy fixtures off his bye. Go have a rest Zach.

Bolton (53) – Yeah… No thank you. Justice.

Holmes (71) – It continues to be all or bust for Holmes, and thank fully his big scores have offset the stinkers. Geelong got smashed so I’m giving it a pass, but I’d love the rollercoaster to even out a little.

Neale (68) – This is the end. Hell of a fantasy career Lachie.

Xerri (84) – From scary intimidating vibes to oaf vibes, Xerri is proving if he can’t manhandle the opposition ruck he offers literally nothing. He is as likely to take a contested mark as Nick Daicos. This is why the bloke was priced at $600k, and I bought him for $1.15M. Shocker.

AFL 2025 Round 15 - Carlton v North Melbourne - A-60145355

Daniel (76) – Caleb Daniel trying to run is sort of like the road runner before he gets going as his legs are pumping but he’s going nowhere. I still haven’t got over what I saw last week. One week and he is GONE.

Roberts (76) – Mills has taken his role, and that could be a killer in drafts. You can only feed so many mouths.

C.Warner (71) – Classic Cheeksy, but we all know this. Expect nothing more.

JHF (67) – He was obviously not 100%, and he is playing pure forward. In no world should anyone go near JHF right now, and as an owner I’m not even disappointed. It was expected.

Bergman (52) – Speaking of sore shoulders, what’s going on there at Port Adelaide. This was a killer as Q1 he was in the midfield on Heeney and scoring well, only to go off in Q2 and return to play full back. I’m considering jumping off, it was a great couple of weeks.

AFL 2025 Round 15 - Port Adelaide v Sydney - A-60153320

Long (76) – Justice. Don’t get complacent…

Steele (66) – A captain’s effort this. Jack Steele rolls out of bed for 15 disposals and 2 marks, anything else is a bonus. When he doesn’t tackle it looks like this. He’s basically James Rowbottom. Yuck.

Sinclair (64) – Stinklair absolutely feasts against weak opposition and folds like a deckchair as soon as there’s some quality on the other side of the field. It’s a tale as old as time.

Kelly (59) – Josh Kelly, farewell my friend. It’s truly a changing of the guard this year.

Treloar (35) – This sucks for Treloar but… Deep down there’s a sicko in me that says, the midfield rotation just got a little cleaner.

Whitfield (23) – Just in case you had forgotten, luck plays a HUGE part in AFL Fantasy. We technically got lucky this concussion happened in the best 18 byes, and congratulations to all the people with poor teams that didn’t have Whitfield on their charge up the rankings. Trust me, I’d know a thing or two about poor teams! This sucks.

AFL 2025 Round 08 - Sydney v GWS - A-59190249

THIS GAME SH*TS ME

A great AFL Fantasy coach probably finds themselves somewhere on the spectrum, and it’s often the little things that set us off. Or, maybe that’s just me. So when I see the bench hold up a gigantic bloody sign that says has the number 44 that my grandmother could spot from across the ground, can Tim English GO TO THE BENCH?! I reckon the trainer had to have his shoulders tested after the game he was left there for that long. Timmy probably came off the ground after saying “sorry I didn’t see you mate” as 7 foot 5 Sam Darcy had to go through a whole fresh warmup before he went back on the ground. It was so bad that in the last quarter they just told big Sam to stay out there, otherwise English wouldn’t let him back on. Embarrassing stuff. This game is clearly driving me insane and it sh*ts me.

THE OTHER BITS AND PIECES

1884, ranked 3913. It is what it is at this point, my team is going nowhere but I can still have some fun with it! Step up Sam Darcy. That made the Bulldogs so much fun to watch, if the ball goes near him he’s a good chance to clunk it. Unreal. That will be a theme for my trades, but it’s a boring rookie clean out for me this week.

I currently have 19 healthy bodies on the park this week, so prepare yourselves for an epic wash-up stinker. I’ve gone up 5.5k ranks during the byes so at least there’s that! My team value sucks so I’ll be committing to Tom McCarthy on my field to help clean up the spuds like Caleb Daniel to at least field a best 21 in the near future. I think there’s merit to looking past a “completed team” and realising Tmac may not score much less than a Colby or Mills anyway!

Are you ever sitting there over the weekend wanting to vent about your capitulating AFL Fantasy team, only to have no one to talk to who actually cares? Well, we do. We’ve started a Wash-Up discord channel where we’ll talk trades and tactics, but mostly vent about our awful players over the weekend. It’s all just for a laugh and some fun, which is what the game is about!

Join us for a live trade chat Wednesdays 8pm AEST and a Sunday morning (possibly hungover) debrief. Oh and be sure to catch the podcast! I’ll see you same time next week legends.
