Legends – welcome to Calvin’s Captains again for yet another round.
I found this round rather easy when placing my top picks this week but the biggest question is… when and who will you use the VC on, knowing that we have some BIG scores coming, but probably also with a little more risk. Then the big question comes after… “what score are you willing to take?” Everyone has their own theories on this, so you can take… and you can take-on what you please. It’s all up to you! I stuffed it up last week but this week is all about avoiding the green vest.
LIVE SHOWS NEXT WEEK
YEP… LIVE Shows hit Adealide and Perth next week and we are pumped as. We (for once) have some wicked shit planned and some cool give aways. We also have RORY LAIRD for Adelaide so that’s is going to be sick! I’ll have my guitar… new songs ready…. I’ve been craming over the last few days…. ready for what is a great night of like minded-legends, beers, Fantasy talk and a shitload of fun and bagging out Warnie.
My goal this week – AVOID THE GREEN VEST AT ALL COSTS!
CALVIN’S TOP-5
No. 1 – Marshall v GWS
@ Manuka , SAT 1:45pm
Rucks v Briggs this year… Witts 92, Williams 43, Xerri 121 and Cameron 131. Impressive which indicates, Rowan should be great again! Marshall scored 138 and 110 against the Giants last year and his form has been awesome with only one failure this year with scores of 136, 117, 86 and 118. Get around the big man, he should be huge again despite being in enemy territory.
No. 2 – Bontempelli v ESS
@ Marvel , FRI 7:40pm
He’s back! 149 last week with 10 tackles was huge and what we expect from the great man. He had 128 (29d, 11m, 2t, 2.2g) last year in this encounter and he loves playing under the roof at Marvel. Adding to this is what Essendon give up. Highlighting this fact even more is what has happened last week when Rozee 133, JHF 111 and Butters 106 all top scored for the Power.
No. 3 – Merrett v WBD
@ Marvel , FRI 7:40pm
#1 player in the game with an average of 123. Dogs have only played Geelong, Eagles and the Suns and over those games Touk was the highest scoring MID with 109… but the quality of players in those games aren’t exactly Zach Merrett standard. Only managed 88 on the Dogs last season but his form overrides that with scores of 135, 110, 122 and 125.
No. 4 – Gawn v BRIS
@ MCG, THURS 7:30pm
Remember last year when Max finally got to ruck solo without Grundy and he went on and scored 162?… well, that was this game against Oscar McInerney. Oscar has been giving up points this year, despite being tough in 2023. Recent rucks v Oscar have scored – Xerri 102, Cox 74 & Cameron 33 and Luke Jackson 96.
No. 5 – Green v STK
@ Manuka , SAT 1:45pm
WTF Tom? 88? Surely he bounces back here against a team that has given up 10×100+ scores in the last two weeks and in that time we have seen some good scores from MIDs such as.. Martin 145, Bolton 120, Dusty 115, Merrett 110… Parish 104 and Taranto 99. He scored 112 and 111 against them last season and returns to Canberra where he had 109 in round one. Repay us Tom!
ALSO CONSIDER…
Rory Laird v Carlton
Nahh… not a huge option this week but big Lairdy is coming to our LIVE show in Adelaide next Wednesday so I’m sure he’ll put on a show here, before the show there. Grab your tickets and get along for a night or fun… beers and LAIRDY. Yep… LAIRDY!
Harry Sheezel v Geelong
#2 man in the game after hitting 120+ in all games this year – nuts. He only managed 52 on the Cats at the Cattery last year in a patch where he was ripping it up… just like now. Last week, Bont 149, Libba 132, Treloar 125 all didn’t struggle, and neither should Sheezel based on his hot form.
Nic Martin v Bulldogs
Huge smokie and could explode here. Two weeks ago, McGovern and Duggan hit 100-plus on the Dogs as they combined for 21 marks, then don’t forget what the Demons had earlier this year against the Dogs when Billings, Petracca, May and McDonald all combined for 48 marks. They give up plenty don’t worry about that.
Any love for English?
Tim English is officially finished as a fantasy asset. Trade to Gawn or RoMo while you can.
Someone tell me what’s up with Clayton Oliver and is he a trap, lol.
The last player i’d be thinking about for at least 4-5 weeks, then see what he’s doing, cause at his current rate he’ll be mid priced.
To be fair all the dees mids had bad games last night, tracc was even worse, as briby said give him a few weeks then reassess, could be an excellent cheaper pick up.
Nic Martin into Jack Steele?
Steele into Sheezel?
Martin into Sheezel?
Any advice is appreciated
