Gather Round is here and in a week to celebrate footy…. we need a great captain to make it more enjoyable. So far this year I have been a little hit and miss. But as the dust settles and the data comes more true… we are starting to see some real patterns in what we could be expecting from our superstar players.
LIVE SHOWS COMING…
Who is coming? Who is up for a beer and a Fantasy chat? These are epic nights and always so much fun. Please grab some mates and come and join us, have some beers and enjoy this great game. The guitar will be packed once again so get those singing voices ready and we have some wicked shit planned to make these great.
CALVIN’S TOP-5 CAPTAINS
No. 1 – Marshall v RICH
@ Norwood Oval, SUN 3:20pm
The great man is always an option and the best I have found for round 4. Rucks v Richmond have gone… Grundy 103, Soldo 59 and De Koning 107. Nank is one of the easiest to score against and Marshall has been good coming off 117 from last week. He even had 131 and 103 on Nank last season and is a great ‘fall back captain’ option on Sunday afternoon.
No. 2 – Heeney v WCE
@ Adelaide Hills, SAT 1:30pm
The original Weasel… yes I messed up and need to be nicer to the bloke. I should have Heeney and he shouldn’t be called a Weasel. So… I will appolgise to the man because he will be great again. West Coast give up plenty… in fact they have given up 13×100+ scores in the last two weeks. Even if he tried… he can’t avoid scoring 100 here. He had 129 (5.4 goals) against them last year as the Swans won by 171pts and four players scored 125+. Heeney is on fire and this game will be nasty, and Heeney… I hate to say it… we be awesome.
No. 3 – Gulden v WCE
@ Adelaide Hills, SAT 1:30pm
How can Gulden avoid a ton here? He had 145 in this game last year but is coming off a disappointing 83. He has a top score of 117 this season but should beat that here. Surely!? He started slow last season, averaging 89 after round six before flipping the switch to average 121 from that point onwards. This could be a turning point.
No. 4 – Green v GCS
@ Adelaide Hills, SUN 12:30pm
Averaging 127… only Serong is going at a better clip. Green didn’t play the Suns last year, but did have 114 against them in 2022. The Dogs had 4×100+ (Bont the best MID with 104) against the Suns recently and then Laird 119 and Crouch 113 were also good against them. Another solid score is on the cards.
No. 5 – Max Gawn v ADEL
@ Adelaide Oval, THURS 7:40pm
BOOM! 146 last week, at Adelaide Oval where he plays here. Max is now averaging 119 for the year and posted 115 against O’Brien last year (No Grundy). Recent rucks to battle O’Brien have been solid enough with Jackson 88, Blicavs 104/Stanley 48 and Witts 90 all scoring about what you would expect. So what do I expect for Max… a range of 110 to 125.
A FEW FLAGS…
Caleb Serong – Hewett tagged LDU last week to 21 in the first half. He could have another role here. VC only
Zach Merrett – Maybe gets attention from Drew, but Merrett has scored well (114 and 120) against the Power last year.
Nick Daicos – Finn is coming. He tagged Daicos last year to 37 (Hawks won) and 58 (pre-season). Not worth the risk.
Tim English – Splitting the ruck role 70/30 with Sam Darcy at the moment for scores of 98 and 112. Concerning.
Marcus Bontempelli – Ankle? Coach? Top score of 104 this year… lift big fella!
Take Dawson 112 or go HeenDawg.
Tough decision. You can rest easy knowing you have a half decent captain score or stress balls until late in the round when Heeney plays and gets something similar.
I think I’m gonna wait and see how the weekend unfolds, if guys I don’t have like green, serong and co. go 130+, then I might just put the C on Jack Steele, lol. And since Heeney plays on Saturday, he’s going to ruin me with 150 lol.
I’ve got the vc on Gawn.
I’m going all in on HeenDawg..
Same. 109 is so awkward faarkk
OK, forget what I said up there, let’s go all in on HeenDawg. We’ll feel the pain or gain together!
Risk 110 points
Reward 10? 20? 30?
Russian roulette is not a viable long term strategy IMO.
Different subject JM, I have to ask do you still think that Fyfe is a must have?
Trade him for Tom Powell if u can he will gain thousands
Thanks Jon, I don’t have Fyfe, but I do already have Powell. It’s just that a couple of weeks ago JM said Fyfe was a must have. I prefer to think that he is a must not have.
fortune favours the brave
Heeney or the north weasel as cap or take the beard score?….
Green or Heeney for my big C. Any love for Steele?
Hi Cecil. Just be a bit careful putting the C on Heeney. He will score well but seeing the Swans have T Adams in for his first game, he could take some points off of Heeney. But by saying that Heeney is my VC and Steele is Captain.
No mention of Sheezel when his lowest score of the season has been 120
yeah, we all need to start considering this piglet as vc/c material now, I haven’t all season, lol
Another one
Last 2 rounds I have put the C on Steele as I think you can’t go past the man of Steele. With the Saint’s up against the Tigers this week.
Ok Budget Calvin.
Clohesy or Graham, need a budget defender to replace Howes 30. lol
Grab Mark Keane. Scoring 90s, still very cheap
Take Sheezus’ points or stick with Heeney?
take the sheez, 120 is usually my breakeven vc point
I’m a North supporter, but that Fremantle Carlton game was a total match fix. I watched live betting all over the world on this one. I am in Lithuania. I know my feed is delayed by about 7 seconds, but I saw a plunge on Carlton with over 2 minutes left, when they were 8 points behind. Then that debacle occured with 2 goals simultaneously. This was a match Fix. Fuck the AFL.
