Calvin's Captains

Calvin’s Captains – Rd. 21

Who you got as VC and C? Watch-out though… taggers are back in vogue.

Here we go again for what promise to be another big week of Fantasy Finals. Nailing a captain is just as important as ever and this week you need to be super-careful….especially with taggers being back in vogue.

1. Rory Laird

@ Optus
SUN 4:10pm
130+ in his last five games#1 man on form averaging 144 in his last three. Scored 122 against the Eagles earlier this year and 122 and 125 last season. Too hard to look past after going 120+ in his last eight games. TAG FLAG - Xavier O'Neil tried to run with Touk (122) last week. Not a concern.
2. Callum Mills

@ Marvel
SUN 1:10pm
Averaging 122 in his last three and the match-up is gold.Last week, Essendon had five players take double-figure marks against the Roos who are an easy match-up for Mills. Merrett (172), Redman (139), Langford (113) all cashed in as 6 players hit 109+. He had 106 against them earlier this year, and is coming off 116 (8 marks).
3. Clayton Oliver

@ MCG
FRI 7:50pm
Collingwood #1 easiest since the byes for MIDsOliver scored 146 against the Pies earlier this year and this match-up has been a proven winner for him in the past. Since his thumb injury he has only scored 87 and 94... finds form here though!
4. Zach Merrett

@ Giants
SAT 2:10pm
#2 on form averaging 141 in his last three.Lowest score of 118 from his last six games and last year he had 64 and 128 on the Giants. He is here on form alone and his 135pt second half last week. TAG FLAG - Ash ran with Warner (65) last week and last year, he ran with Parish, who isn't playing again.
5. Sam Walsh

@ GABBA
SUN 3:20pm
128 last week and his ankle seems fineWalsh scored 123 on the Lions last year who have been giving up points this year. Even Bolton (114) and Cotchin (105) hit tons last week and he's twice the player they are.
6. Touk Miller

@ UTas
SAT 1:45pm
122 and 120 in his last games. Elite!Touk had 105 when he played the Hawks earlier this year and 160 last season but the tag of Maginness is real here. Coming off 31d (16 clearances) he could be targeted by the guy who has had tagging roles in the last two weeks.
7. Jack Steele

@ GMHBA
SAT 7:25pm
Recent score sof 107, 154, 117 and 121 is up there with the best.Geelong in Geelong is tough - Macrae (72), Smith (65) and Bont (86) found it tough last week with only Dunkley (119) getting away. His best score ever is 117 against the Cats, but his form is too good too ignore.
8. Tom Mitchell

@ UTas
SAT 1:45pm
Had 112 on the Suns earlier this year and returns to Pig ParkThe Pig loves playing at Pig Park and without setting the world on fire, he's been solid enough with scores of 115 and 106. Funny things can happen in Launie.
9. Marcus Bontempelli

@ Marvel
SAT 4:35pm
86 last week... he'll be much better here. Before last week, bont has been ripping it with scores of 125 and 140. He had 125 last year on the Dockers but monitor his shoulder niggle. Should be fine.
10. Christian Petracca

@ MCG
FRI 7:50pm
Match-up, match-up, match-up110 last week was CP's best score in the last four games. The thing is... he could blow this game apart. Recent MIDs v Collingwood.... Rozee (115), Merrett (121), Heppell (117) and prior to that Adelaide had Laird's 163.

TAG FLAGS

Windhager – If I was coaching… I’d send him to Mitch Duncan. But who knows, the Cats have lots of potential options he could line-up with.

Maginness – Who will he target from the Suns? Touk Miller would be my guess, but a guy like that is pretty much untaggable anyway.

O’Neill – Xavier went to Touk (122) last week, and held him to just one mark. Rory Laird might cop it here but it won’t matter. Laird had 130 last week and only took 2 marks. Tackles are his key.

Clarke – Ok…. so surely Jy Simpkin get this one. Coming off 41 touches… he is North’s best player and is at the top of the list by a mile.

Aish – Ran with Oliver last week, could find himself with one of the Bulldogs, but which one? Surely the Bontempelli or Bailey Smith could be targeted.
