Another week in the can and my top captains went off with Touk (147), Petracca (136) and Oliver (120) leading the way. Now there are a few flag you might want to be aware of so make sure you watch my weekly video! Good luck legends!
Player | Opponent Venue Time | Key Stats | Cal’s Comments |
---|---|---|---|
1. Touk Miller | @ GS SAT 1:10pm | 155 on the Giants last year and coming off 147 | No one works harder than this man who should get the job done again. Touk fills the stat line and had 38d, 6m and 7t last week. |
2. Andrew Brayshaw | @ Optus SUN 6:20pm | Averaging 150.5 this year and only plays the depleted Eagles. | Scored 103 on the Eagles last year but Brayshaw has gone to a new lever this year. Might cop attention from X O’Neill. |
3. Christian Petracca | @ MCG FRI 7:20pm | 139 is his average this year and he had 113 on Ess last year | Form trumps history here as CP has traditionally struggled against Essendon. He’s just too good at the moment. |
4. Lachie Neale | @ GABBA SAT 8:00pm | 145 and 118 in his first two games and 111 on Nth last year | Fit and firing! Only concern here is the fact that North have only allowed 2x100 this year with Shuey 103 the best midfielder. |
5. Jack Steele | @ Marvel SUN 3:20pm | Opened with 105 & 107 and had 114 & 115 on the Tigers last year | Richmond have allowed 6 midfielders to have 100 this year and although Steele has been quiet, he scored 105 with 13 tackles and 0 marks. |
6. Sam Walsh | @ MCG SUN 1:10pm | 104 last year against the Hawks but looked great last week for 89 | Hawks are giving up points with Boak 152 (39d), Amon 148 (38d), Butter 137 and Wines 128 (36d) all cashing in last week. |
7. Josh Kelly | @ GCS SAT 4:35pm | Averages a massive 133 in his last 5 against the Suns | Melbourne had 5x110+ scores on the Suns last week and Kelly will enjoy playing one of his favourite team at home. |
8. Patrick Cripps | @ MCG SUN 1:10pm | 123 and 112 in his first two games and had 107 on Hawks last year | Same as Walsh, expect Cripper to cash in against a team that are bleeding points. MCG on Sunday could be a points feast. |
9. Tim Taranto | @ GCS SAT 4:35pm | 99 and 125 are his last games against the Suns. | TT has started on fire scoring 104 and 128. This should be much easier than other weeks as week. Big score coming. |
10. Lachie Whitfield | @ GCS SAT 4:35pm | 88 and 69 in his games this year. He has struggled. | Bounce back game. He scored 28 (inj) and 149 in his last two against them. Melb DEFs racked up last week (Bowey 125) and Whit should as well. |
MY ROUGH PLAN OF ATTACK
As we know, it all depends on the rookies that get named (or don’t get named) as this shapes what we can and can’t do in the way of the loop hole.Â
At this stage my doubtful rookies are … MEAD (Friday night), HOUGH (last game – stressful) and BALDWIN (Friday night) could be my guys on the bench that are not playing. My options are very limited.
If that’s the case then… I could go VC on:
- Macrae who I’m not sold on but an easy option (or Dunkley) and use BALDY/MEAD as my ZERO
- Neale plays Saturday, then I could use HOUGH (last game) but imagine if he’s a late in… or something like that. The later you leave it, the harder it is to get them on.
- Might trade in Touk. I love the bloke and he plays Saturday 1:10. Might make life a lot easier using HOUGH late – aggghhhh
Basically… you can’t get too pretty, you will get burnt. Play it safe and make sure you have all your ducks in a row ready to go.
