NB: Apologies for lateness, servers crashed!
GAME 3: Friday 18th March – Saints vs Pies
Notes: J.Hayes is named as a cheam fwd/ruck option, but concerned about when Ryder returns for his Job Security. Popular picks Steele, Marshall are named, but unfortunately it looks like Wanganeen-Milera is a chance for Medi sub and named emergency.A player cheap enough to mention as cashcow option Mitch Owen is named for the saints.
For the pies, we already knew N.Daicos was playing, and Grundy, Crisp, Adams, Pendles, Sidebottom amongst others are named. No surprises here

GAME 5: Saturday 18th March – Giants vs Swans
Greene is missing for GWS, and Preuss is out at least 1 week for a report, but otherwise no surprises with Whitfield, Coniglio, Taranto, J.Kelly named for GWS
Big name out for Swans though, with no Lloyd named. McCartin one of the few Def cheapies named so far,and a rookie priced mid I honestly dont know much about Angus Sheldon is named. Popular picks Heeney, Mills, McInerney are all playing.

GAME 6: Saturday 18th March – Lions vs Port
Nothing too surprising for the Lions lineup, with Neale, Lyons, Zorko and Rich amongst others named. One name Im interested off half back is Ah Chee, who could get a sneaky Coleman role.
Interesting rookie debut for Port here, with basement mid rookie Jackson Mead selected, but ruck rookie S.Hayes didnt make the cut.
Mainstays Wines, Butters, Houston are named

GAME 7: Sunday 20th March – Hawks vs Roos
Notes: This is a Sunday extended game so watch this space Friday ~5pm for extended bench changes
We know the Ward and C.MacDonald are debuts in this game, as is Horne-Francis for the roos. Jeka is a cheapie named on bench, but Id guess he would be Emergency
Xerri is named on field, but so is Coleman-Jones and Goldstein at this stage, will they play all 3?
DT relevant Tom Mitchell, Sicily, Hall, Ziebell are all named, Cunnington, Anderson are missing for Roos.

GAME 8: Sunday 20th March – Crows vs Freo
Notes: This is a Sunday extended game so watch this space Friday ~5pm for extended bench changes
Rachele and Soligo are debutting for the crows, and new face Dawson could be a sneaky POD. Laird is still missing, popular midpricers M.Crouch and Milera are getting a game
Fyfe is a no show this week as is Darcy, we’d expect Brodie to make the cut and is named in the guts. Eramus is another rookie priced name, but this screams Emergency at this stage. Serong, Chapman are other popular picks named.

GAME 9: Sunday 20th March – Eagles vs Suns
Notes: This is a Sunday extended game so watch this space Friday ~5pm for extended bench changes
So many new names on the extended bench for Eagles that we really need to wait on Friday extended bench selections to confirm all these rookie priced options. (Jack Williams, Callum Jamieson, Isiah Winder, Willie Rioli), but you’d expect Dixon named on field will play. The absentee list is VERY long, Darling, Kelly, Shuey, Yeo, Sheed, Allen, Duggan, Cripps, Chesser,
Witherden. Hough is a confirmed debut
For Suns ruck rookie Ned Moyle is named on extended bench, earmarked as an Emergency. Touk, Rowell, Anderson are some DT relevant picks named.

We can add Nick Daicos, Josh Rachele, Jake Soligo to the named debuts.
And happy news for many, Adelaide Officials confirm popular mid priced defender Wayne Milera ADE (Def $378k) will play
GAME 2: Thursday March 17 – Blues vs Tigers
Blues vs Tiges teams have dropped!
We already knew about Joshua Gibcus RIC (Def $274k) unfortunately 2nd year popular pick Hugo Ralphsmith RIC (Mid/Fwd) has been named as an emergency.
Good to see Sam Docherty back, Id want to see how he goes before considering him yet.
No big surprises with main players such as Patrick Cripps, Jayden Short, Dustin Martin, and popular midpricer George Hewett named.
Im interested in watching how Adam Cerra goes in his first official game with blues as well, and a few people are looking at Daniel Rioli as a Point of Difference, and can see him named half back.

Tuesday 16th March – Teamsheets for opener
Welcome back to AFL Fantasy 2022! Round 1 is about to kick off, and we are starting with the AFL Grand Final blockbuster between Demons and the Dogs.
We have not 1 but 2 early games with a Wednesday night and Thursday night game, so make sure you watch this space as teams drop!
Reminder: We are back to Thursday night team selections, and still have a rolling lockout.
But don't get complacent, we wont know full Sunday squads until Friday afternoon, so make sure you have backup plans for late round rookies, or injury concerns (Milera anyone? NB: He’s Confirmed).
GAME 1: Wednesday March 16 – Demons vs Doggies
Notes: No Rookie priced players have earnt a spot. All the mainstay champs are there with Macrae, Dunkley, Bont, Treloar, Oliver, Gawn, Petracca to name the main ones. Personally Im also looking at Tim English as a POD as well, and have a sneaky eye in on Ed Richards
7:10pm at the MCG

Any news on Milera?

March 15, 2022 at 7:22 pm
That’s the millon dollar question at the moment. You will know if he is selected Thursday night, and will know if he’s made it past the extended bench cut Friday night.
IF you have a backup plan to sideways him to someone else NOT playing Wednesday or Thursday games then Id hold til then. But yeah, no news yet that I know of.

Joel Smith worth a punt for the bench D7? And Answerth or McCartin as D6?
Shags
March 15, 2022 at 9:12 pm
Personally wouldnt go near J.smith. McCartin has more upside than downside, relishing his new opportunity at a new club.
I know very little about Answerth. Awkward 300k+ price as well, and dont even know if hes top 22.

hey guys,
thoughts on going titch down to Kelly/brayshaw (my m3) which would allow me to upgrade Ralphsmith to xerri who I thinks the only other option at this point. Could also go titch down to Neale which would let me be able to fix all rooks with cash leftover
cheers

Do whatever you need to to get those green dots, Neale at M3 is hardly a terrible thing, non playing rooks would almost be season over before it begins.

Got the VC on Petracca’s 142 points, is it worth getting a non playing rookie to loophole him
Or just captain Jack Steele vs pies?

take the 142

Traders usually say take 120 and above.

March 17, 2022 at 12:04 pm
Nope, as the captain says it’s all about green dots this week, a full deck of playing rooks should be your priority, that said Tracca’s 142 is pretty tempting.

The game was always played with 29 players, R4 was rarely used and there was a winner every year using only 29 players…
Loop hole for the win!
Good Luck

Lots of people regretting “Set and forget” with Max?
Like that a lot
March 17, 2022 at 1:59 am
79 in a terrible game isn’t the end of the world. If we could look into the future, then perhaps Marshall was the right choice but he still hasn’t played yet and is Marshall a long term option with Ryder coming back? I just think of it as a trade I won’t have to consider unless an injury occurs. Now I will use my trades to build a stronger midfield and take advantage of value picks like Cripps, Crouch and Jelly.

And giving away 6 frees dragged his score down. Jackson did next to nothing so no need to panic!
Power2Win
March 17, 2022 at 10:46 am
Next to nothign from a fantasy perspective, but keep an eye on the game focus. if he and not max is a focal point for ball movement in the air, that affects both and jackson took some cracking marks last night

Are you serious? It’s a long season, if anyone is kneejerking already then they need their heads checked. Didn’t check but I thought Gawn, score aside, was really good and would have been in the bests, regrets? I feel good about it, clearly a good pick.
How good did English look too just quietly?

What are people doing with their midfield bench now Ralphsmith is not an option? We’ve got Hough and Soligo as options, but their job security looks really shaky. Guys like Ward or Rachele would be good to have on the bench, but they are already on my field!

Just waiting for tonight’s teams and taking the best of what’s available, names mean nothing, it’s all about green dots this week.

I’d think with WCE’s injury/COVID situation, Hough has pretty decent JS for the time being. From memory he was playing at least partly in defence during the preseason, so maybe a chance for DPP?

Thoughts on Lloyd/SDK or Jmac/Milera?
Did a direct swap in forward line from Ralphsmith to xerri- any better options.
Thanks

Mccartin has forward status
NateG
March 17, 2022 at 12:48 pm
Jmac and Milera for me as I have both. Only ones in the forward line worth looking at so far is Rachele, Brodie, Rayner and Xerri to field. Rest won’t score enough to put on field.
NateG
March 17, 2022 at 12:49 pm
And McCartin if desperate.

Sicily or Dan Rioli
Eric the half a bee
March 17, 2022 at 3:07 pm
Dioli for me. Bit cheaper and should do well
Beady Eye
March 17, 2022 at 3:45 pm
Sicily has shown previously that he can score at a premium level.
The hope with Rioli is entirely dependent on a role change changing his scoring, as he hasn’t shown any fantasy ability previously.

Steele or Neale? Either spend all my $$ or keep left over for upgrade later
Steele is selected less so leaning towards him
Beady Eye
March 17, 2022 at 4:57 pm
How many other captain options do you have in your team?
That’s an underrated factor in choosing Steele – you can throw the C (or VC) on him basically every week, regardless of matchup; not so much with Neale outside of his Brownlow year.
Ollie
March 17, 2022 at 5:01 pm
Macrae was my C last night, but he’s probably the only legitimate one. I ended up trading out crisp for mcinerney, to take Steele and Neale.
But hard choice seeing Crisp will probably be playing more in the middle
And now I have 3 defenders around the 500k price (Sic, hewett, mcinerney)
Could maybe shuffle and upgrade Short for Crisp
Beady Eye
March 17, 2022 at 5:29 pm
With Steele and Macrae you’re in pretty safe hands to rotate the C and VC week to week.
I have those three midpricers myself, so clearly I agree that it’s a legitimate strategy! I’d have Short also but would prefer Crisp if I could afford it. Even downgrading Neale to one of the <$700K options (Serong, Cripps, or a DPP that you later swing forward) could help getting up to Crisp.

Who do within is better in terms of JS and scoring potential – Xerri or Naish?
Norman
March 18, 2022 at 12:28 am
I don’t understand why everyone is jumping on Xerri.
Yea he scored 100+ in the pre-season playing as No.1 ruck but he won’t be Number 1 and look at his scores last year as the second Ruck… (ave 34, top score 46…)
I don’t see North playing Goldy if he’s not playing as the main ruckman and Xerri will be playing deep forward and won’t score well at all (circa 2021).
Yes he might make a few cheap dollars but i also wouldn’t be suprised if he doesn’t score at all.
I have Naish (pending on him being named in the 22) with McCartin as my backup.
Now watch me eat my words as Goldy gets injured and Xerri goes on to average 80 for the season
Beady Eye
March 17, 2022 at 6:23 pm
I’m looking at it in terms of which is needed most by their team right now, and the opportunity that presents for them.
North currently have a surplus of rucks available – Goldy, Xerri, Coleman-Jones, Comben. All of them can’t play, so a crap game or two could see any of them (bar probably Goldy) out of the side.
West Coast are gutted by COVID and injuries to their midfield. You don’t grab a guy training with another team on the other side of the country and fly him across to train, play a game and immediately sign him up unless you need him to play.
I wouldn’t say either has great JS long term but it doesn’t need to be, they’re both just stepping stones.
Prowling Tiger
March 17, 2022 at 6:28 pm
Xerri will have competition from CCJ and maybe Comben. North may decide to go with 3 talls but don’t expect it every week. Naish is purely a fill in player until the eagles get back some players.

Urgent **
Would anybody be able to help me with an issue I am having, everytime I try to switch somebody out of my team it says “player Jack Macrae is locked with partial lockout”, fantasy is f***ing me over as I can’t change any of the players on my team. Is anybody recieving anything similiar?

Mine was doing something similar earlier today when I’d directly swap players around, but worked OK if I removed them completely and inserted the players where I wanted them from the overall list.

Should I hold Duncan this week or trade out to get some extra generation? Thinking cash is more important so tempted to do that but not sure.
Norman
March 18, 2022 at 12:31 am
I was in the same predicament.
Take the extra points and cash and see Duncan as an upgrade in a few weeks.
He’s priced at 100 so a couple potential slow games to start the season after a niggling calf and he’ll be ripe for the pickings once a cash cow is fattened up.
