Thinking Koschitzke to R.Byrnes and Gulden to Macrae. Just gotta decide on either R.Byrnes or Collier-Dawkins.

    • Ethan F

      at

Fix up any red dots on your bench first. I prefer RCD as Cotchin is injured which should make him more secure (and also more likely to take a share of his points).

  2. Cam

    at

Who goes first, Tex or Gulden?(other one goes next week). And which premo mid to bring in? Already have Merrett, Macrae, Titch Taranto

    • Ethan F

      at

T.Walker probably goes first, he’ll lose you another $40-50k next week most likely. Kelly seems a really nice option, but you should be thinking about your bye structure (Kelly has the common R12 bye). Walsh is a good pick too, has the R13 bye also.

      • Cam

        at

yeah i’m going Kelly for Tex this week and and a round 13 bye rounder (Lyons, Mcclugagge, Walsh, Treloar) for Gulden next week.

    Trade out Jiath or Gulden?

      Fredrick or kosi (on ground)

      • Ethan F

        at

        Frederick.

    • Ethan F

      at

Jiath has the easier matchup this week, so probably trade out Gulden if you’re unsure. If you’d be holding Jiath for multiple weeks, then Gulden has Collingwood in R9 who are super easy to score against. I’d get Gulden out if you’re going to get Jiath out next week, though.

    Kelly..Or Sidebottom?

    • Ethan F

      at

Has to be Kelly for the price and new role. Only go Sidebottom if you have a ridiculous amount already on the R12 bye.

Macrae Merrett TT Titch Heppell Gulden Powell Jordan (sharp Scott)
    Gawn Rob (Flynn hunter)
Zieball Stephenson Phillips Warner Bergman Robertson ( Rowe f.McRae)

Hi guys – have a lot of dpp but not sure what best move? Was thinking Fanta and gulden for frederick and mills – anyone have some feedback on next trades please ?

    • Ethan F

      at

You could do Gulden -> RCD and Fantasia -> Mills. That leaves your team in a really strong position and also shifts a spot away from the R12 bye.

  8. Fishxma

    at

Or RCD for Fanta and get anyone else from Oliver down for gulden?

  9. Josh

    at

Ladies & Gentlemen I need some help! I’m a bit stuck as I need the fattened cash cows to go but I also need some people on my field to get off.

MID: Macrae, Merrett, Taranto, Treloar, Powell, Warner, Gulden, Jordan (Campbell, Downie)

FWD: I. Smith, Phillips, Hind, Fantasia, Roberston, Macrae (Rowe, Brockman)

atm I’m thinking Campbell –> RCD and Rowe –> Poulter which will give me heaps of cash

    • Ethan F

      at

I don’t like Poulter personally. I like your outs…RCD is a definite in.

If you do Campbell -> RCD, you could do Rowe -> Byrnes via DPP, which would mean you could play RCD on field instead of F.Macrae (probs a ~25 point advantage per game). Byrnes is a solid bench option too. You could also get Frederick in if you have someone to DPP with in your DEF line.

  10. Michael

Def: Laird, Docherty, Stewart, Cumming, CJ, Cox (Chapman, Kos)

Mid: Merrett, Taranto, Walsh, Mitchell, Treloar, Powell, Warner, Jordon (Scott, Brockman)

    Ruc: Grundy, Gawn (Flynn)

Fwd: Philips, Hind, Fantasia, Robertson, Bergman, Farrar (Atu, Rowe)

    Uti: Meek

    335k in the bank

Unsure what to do this week. Whilst I’d love to go
Rowe/Chapman -> Freddy/Hall (which would leave me with 218k), it would mean I have 16 players on the Rd12 bye, meaning I’d need to use 8/9 of my pre-bye trades on players with that bye… would love some advice ! Thanks legends

  11. Fishxma

    at

Already have macrae Merrett TT and Mitchell – can get any mid – who do u think would be next best? Thinking Oliver/Steele/Walsh or is there anyone else?

    • Ethan F

      at

B.Ellis has been a beast this season. If I was in the market for a premium MID, I’d be taking him I think.

  12. Ethan F

    at

    Josh Kelly or Aaron Hall?

Josh Kelly ($674k) has a new role on the wing (seemingly, that could change). But, he’s only gone above 91 once this season. He has been great in previous seasons, though.

Aaron Hall ($575k) has the highest average of anyone who’s played more than one game (121.7) – when he’s played full games. He’s been injured once, and was the medical sub for another, bringing his average down significantly. But, if he plays, he’s surely going to go bang. AND he has Collingwood this week. Instant reward. AND, if you needed anything more, his breakeven is 38. Even if he’s a bust, he’ll likely still rise in price.

Even if they were similar in price, I’d be debating this. But Hall is $99k cheaper. That’s not an insignificant amount. I just don’t know why people are going Kelly over Hall. I think considering Hall’s matchup and how much he’ll likely rise in price, you have to take him this week, and if Kelly goes 120+ again, get him next week.

Anyway, just my thoughts. Are you taking either of them?

    • Cam

      at

I’m taking Kelly because even if he fails he is a top 6 forward, compared to Hall I just can’t see him finishing in the rolling. The other concern with Hall is he is injury prone, and if he has a form slump he could easily be dropped as we have seen in the past. Even if we just trade him out we have now used 3 trades on Hall, bringing him in, trading him out and getting the money to do that, compared to one for Kelly. It’s true Kelly is also injury prone, but not as much as Hall. He also won’t ever be dropped. As for Kelly’s role, worst case scenario he goes back forward and averages 75-80. That isn’t that bad and so he shouldn’t drop cash too quickly. All this being said, they are both great options and I would have them both except for the fact they both have r12 byes and that is a pretty heavy bye round for my team, I don’t know about everyone else. All in all I would pick Kelly just for the safety and still a massive upside.

      • Ethan F

        at

I guess it also depends on your team currently. I’ve been pretty careful about avoiding injury prone players and I don’t have too many uniques so I can afford to take the risk. If he goes down, I have Bosenavulagi on my bench and I can just trade him out before his R12 bye, so it’s minimal risk for me. Other teams might have a lot of uniques and ongoing problems so they’d opt for the safer guy. Good point.

      • Phteven

        at

Highly unlikely that Hall will be dropped. North have a huge injury list and are struggling to field a VFL team.

Worried about the weaknesses in the team forced to play like Kosi or Macrae.
    Any Suggestions???

    • Ethan F

      at

Rowe -> RCD, DPP’ed with Powell/Gulden so that you can take F.Macrae off field. This gives you a lot of freedom with your second trade along with the cash to do something.

Personally, I think I’d do Jones -> Frederick then switch Hind and Koschitzke, allowing you to get Koschitzke off your field and net a bit more cash in the process. Also gives you good bench cover on all three main lines. I think you’ll have $204k in the bank if you do these trades, whilst also getting your two weakest links off the field for some safer rookies. This gives you enough to do Flynn -> Bryan and McEvoy -> Gawn next week I believe, or even something like Jiath -> Harmes and Gulden -> Houston.

  14. I’m in a quandry this week, I took a bullet last week knowing I was getting a 0 from Flynn as I wanted Macrae and Ziebell and couldn’t get to Grundy. Scored a 1960 which took me from ~1200 down to ~1500 in the rankings.

This week I’d love to be able to choose from Kelly, Hall or RCD for Phillips, Sholl or Gulden but also can’t stomach a ruck zero again!

Gulden -> RCD gets me cash but still $13k short of being able to do Flynn -> Grundy this week. It would also mean both Devon Robertson and RCD on ground in the mids.

    Any opinions appreciated!!!

DEF: Lloyd, Laird, Short, Ash, Sholl, Cumming [Koschitzke, Stocker]
MID: Macrae, Taranto, Walsh, Mitchell, Powell, Gulden, Jordan, Robertson [Macrae, Rantall]
    RUC: Gawn, Flynn [Meek, Hunter]
FWD: Ziebell, Phillips, Stephenson, Hind, Warner, Bergman [Jones, Brockman]
    $158k bank

    • Ethan F

      at

I see two ways out of this.

You could do Phillips -> RCD (via DPP) which would give you enough to do Flynn -> Grundy. RCD is good enough to stay in your side for a bit, don’t be fooled by his price. He should average ~70.

You could also do Meek/Hunter -> Bryan which gives you an R2 for this week, which would mean you have a trade to do Phillips/Gulden -> Kelly/Hall if you don’t want to miss out on either of them this week.

I think you should do the first option though, you’ll want Grundy by the end of the season and he’s a bit of a pain to get to from Flynn. Take the option whilst you have the chance, I say.

Rank Byrnes Frederick Bryan and RCD

    • Ethan F

      at

      RCD, Frederick, Byrnes, Bryan.

Bryan shouldn’t be a target in my opinion, just a helpful guy to downgrade Flynn to if he’s your R3 and you need cash.

In a bit of strife with recent injuries and a poor start to the season, not sure where to from here as I’m stuck with a few duds. Any tips highly appreciated for a punter in his first fantasy season:
DEF: Rich, Jiath, Frederick, Cumming, Chapman, Moore (Highmore, Murphy)
MID: Setterfield, Robertson, Bontempelli, Jordon, Gulden, Martin, Selwood,F Macrae (Connor Downie, Campbell)
    RUC: Gawn, Flynn (Bailey Williams)
FWD: Cameron, Koschitzke, Farrar, Corbett, Ziebell, Stephenson (Franklin)
    Utility: Leo Connoly
    $736k in the bank

    • Brucey Don't Like Rusty

      at

      Maybe Chapman/Moore>May/Hall,
Setterfield/FMacrae/Downie>RCD/Byrnes/Cunnington/JKelly is a good Premo upgrade,
      Corbett>Thilthorpe/Hogan,
but you need a Ruck most of all. Grundy if can afford, Hickey, McEvoy are OK, NBryan cheap option
      GL Michael

    • Ethan F

      at

Flynn -> Grundy is what most people would say, although you could chase value going Flynn -> Nick Bryan.

Next priority is Dustin Martin if he isn’t named again, you don’t have the bench cover to avoid a 0 there. If he is named, you can look at upgrading Moore, Setterfield, Campbell, Cameron or Franklin. I’d personally look at upgrading Campbell or Franklin first as they’re essentially just dead cash sitting on your bench.

If you went Flynn -> Bryan, you’ll have enough money to go to the (pretty undisputed) best fantasy player this year, Jack Macrae. I’d put him on field for his half brother, Finlay. I’d do this by upgrading Braeden Campbell. This should leave you with a few hundred thousand which will help in the weeks to come.

If you went Flynn -> Grundy, you can’t really get to Macrae unless Martin is out (in which case Martin -> Macrae is the move to make). A popular in this week is Josh Kelly, who you could get by doing Franklin -> Kelly. If you do this, Kelly will end up on your bench so swap Kelly and F.Macrae around, so F.Macrae isn’t in your best 22.

Even if you have picked up a few duds, I really like some of your uniques. Rich was someone I was looking at earlier this season, and I like the Selwood and Corbett picks too.

      Best of luck!

Ok Gulden out RCD in then Fantasia out Mills (leaves 74k) or Walsh( leaves 47k) in? Suggestions please

    • Ethan F

      at

I think I prefer Mills. He’ll be a top six defender by season end, I don’t think Walsh will be a top eight midfielder.

  18. EHAWK

    at

    Hi All,

Which would be a better trade option this week?

    1. Fantasia and Gulden to Frederick and Stewart/Bowes/Zorko (Stewart and Bowes via DPP)
    2. Fantasia and Gulden to Frederick and RCD
    3. Fantasia and CJ to Miller and RCD (DPP)

    Thanks

    • Ethan F

      at

I like 2 best but with all that money you need to have a plan for next week. My plan after that would be to get Jiath to a DEF premium and then a Phillips-type (dried up mid pricer) to a fallen premium. Going 2 is good but there’s no point having a load of cash if you don’t have direction.

  19. Matt.

    at

    Hi All,
    Any help would be appreciated.

DEF: Laird, Mills, Short, Cumming, Hind, Idun (Chapman, Frederick)
MID: Macrae, Merrett, Taranto, Treloar, Warner, Powell, Jordon, Scott (F.Macrae, Brockman)
    RUC: Gawn, Grundy, (Flynn)
FWD: Phillips, Stephenson, Cox, Bergman, Ziebell, Farrar (Kosi, Rowe)
    UTL: Jones.

    $99K

Thinking of double downgrade Flynn to Bryan and Brockman to RCD. + 389k
I can offload the injured Chapman and get to Ridley. but pretty much no cash left. I’m about 1k short of kelly the other way.

    Thanks.

    • Ethan F

      at

Brockman -> RCD is good. Gets Scott off field. Chapman -> Worrell would probably be my move if he’s named, Flynn -> Bryan is just as good though. Feels dirty trading someone out who still has cash to generate, though.

I like your team, good luck for the season!

  20. D

    at

Trade Guiden knowing he is going to lose cash, it get rid of non playing Brockman for RCD

  21. Jay

    at

Only have 22k in bank before trades, not sure what direction to head this week in trades, most weeks been confident in my trading

    Stewart/ doc/ laird/ Markov/ Cox/ kos (mansell/ sharp)
    Macrae/ Taranto/ gaff/ zerrett/ treloar/ Powell/ gulden/ Jordan ( Scott/ brockman)
    Grundy/ gawn (Flynn)
    Tex/ Warner/ Stephenson/ Phillips/ farrar/ Robertson (jones/ Rowe)
    Treacy

    • Ethan F

      at

If I was you, my priorities would be getting rid of T.Walker and getting J.Koschitzke off my field.

You don’t have Ziebell so I’d take a punt on Hall by going T.Walker -> A.Hall, then I’d probably go Rowe/Treacy -> Frederick and DPP so he’s your D6 and Koschitzke is on your bench.

  22. Brian Smith

    at

Currently I only have 13 players for R12 and 6 rookies on field. So between now & then I’m planning these trades:
    R8: Tex > Bolton, Gulden > Ross
    R9: Brockman > cash, Phillips > eg: Heppell/Seedsman/Anderson
R10: Flynn > cash, Fanta > eg: Fyfe, Kelly
    R11: Kozzie & Farrar > cash & eg: Daicos / Caldwell
    R12: Scott > cash, Bergman > Ridley.
That will give me 3 rookies on field (Warner, Powell, Jordan) and 17 Prem/mid priced on field in R12.
Obviously all names subject to review, these are just examples of the options.
    Any thoughts?

    • Ethan F

      at

Sounds good but surely Gulden -> RCD makes more sense this week?

  23. botto

    at

Highmore/Brockman and Warner to RCD and Kelly
    or
Sharp and Warner to RCD and 673k any position (1k off Kelly)

    • Ethan F

      at

I don’t think you should get rid of Warner, should hold him through the byes because he has a favourable bye round. Phillips, Fantasia, Jiath or even Markov are all higher priorities if you have any of them. I like one if you can find someone other than Warner to trade out.

  24. Jay

    at

So I am narrowing down to 2 options

    1) Trade Walker and traecy (bench) out for hall and Frederick then putting kosi on the bench
    Or
    2) Trade Walker and Rowe (bench) out for titch or McCluggage and RCD (may field) leaving kosi on field

    • Ethan F

      at

I like 1 better, gets rid of a red dot and gets an average rookie off field. Leaving RCD for a week will help you make a more informed decision about RCD vs Byrnes too.

    • ShredderPigs

      at

1 all the way. Titch over hall any day of the week! And RCD looks solid.

  25. Pez

    at

Looking to trade out O’Brien to Grundy and Tex to Ridley through DPP but can only do one this week. What trade should I make this week and leave the other until next week?

    • Paul

      at

Tex to Ridley. Tex has a big BE now and will lose you at least 40-50k.

      • Ethan F

        at

        Seconded.

    Current Team

Def: Laird, Docherty, Lloyd, Sholl, Fanatasia, Cox (Kosi/Highmore)
Mid: Macrae, Merrett, Walsh, Powell, Gulden, Phillips, Jordan, Green (Scott/Bruhn)
    Ruck: Grundy & Gawn (Meek)
Fwd: Tex, Stephenson, Warner, Farrar, Robertson, Rowe (Campbell/Brockman)
    Utl: Shipley
    Bank = $133k

    Trade Options:
    1) Downgrade Week : Bruhn to Collier-Dawkins & Campbell to Bergman
    2) Fantasia to Fredericks and Campbell to J Kelly
    3) Tex to Hall and
    4) Fantasia to Daniel/Hall & Rowe to Bergman

    Any other options welcome.

    • Ethan F

      at

Walker has a high BE and will lose you $40-50k this week. He has to go, makes sense to do Walker -> Kelly.

Although a bit late, Bergman still has a lot of cash to make and I really like him. I’d do Campbell -> Bergman for your second trade and get him on field for Rowe.

Unless Fantasia and Gulden improve a lot this week (i.e. at least 90+) they’re next on the chopping block. Red dots are next priority if those two drastically improve.

  27. James

    at

If you had to chose one

    B Dale/ sholl/ cumming/ hind/ A hall

    • Ethan F

      at

Not the best set of options. Don’t have faith in B.Dale. Sholl and Hind, whilst good, are kind of drying up in cash generation and the only players you want to buy who don’t have good cash generation are premiums (which neither of them are). Cumming is still really good, although his cash generation will likely have dried up within 2-3 weeks.

It has to be Hall for me. Highest averaging player if you take away injured/medical sub scores. Plus, a very favourable game against Collingwood next up.

  28. Jason

    J Kelly or S Bolton?

Hi everyone, Can I loop Ziebell as VC to Macrae or will I get locked out? Cheers

    • Ethan F

      at

You can but you need a non-playing player that plays after Ziebell to put the C on if you wanna take Ziebell’s VC score. Brockman and Jones are both popular red dots you could use.

Mills if you don’t have him, has a way better bye round. Also consider Heppell.
