My Team 2021: Version 1.2

There’s been plenty of My Team chat, so add some more!

Fantasy is open for 2021! It’s quite a bit earlier than usual, so there’s no excuse for not having time to play with your team for what we hope will be a normal season coming up.

The first lockout of the season will be 7:25pm AEDT, Thursday 18 March at the bounce of Richmond v Carlton.

Chat in the comments about your team and whatever else Fantasy related. If you’re posting your team, make sure you put it in so it’s easy to read and include remaining cash out of your $13m salary cap. For all prices, click here.

anyone thought of Isaac smith? with duncan out and the draw the cats have he could be someone to post some good scores at the start, the way the cats play can for sure get his points up and no blitz on the wing to, someone to consider with the higher price promos being at a risk to?

    • Euman

      February 18, 2021 at 12:16 pm

Have not considered but like your comments we know Smith can score well if given the chance, i will ahve to have a harder look at this.

DEF: Williams, Laird, Cumming, H.Young, L.Young & Gould
MID: Rocky, Sloane, Rowell, Taranto, Cunnington, Hately, Powell & W.Phillips
    RUCK: Gawn & Grundy
FWD: Danger, T.Phillips, Rozee, Stephenson, Daniher & Macrae

4k left in the bank with rooks on the bench. Rucks are so bloody hard to gauge now with Marshall and Pruess annouced as out. the big 3 rucks all have rnd 14 byes. do we plan for that or try for value and hope for hell it pays off……so many questions. Im happy with my squad but i dont feel 100% content with it either.

Flanders did get some midfield time during intraclub a few days ago.

        Good Luck

    • bomberpap

      February 18, 2021 at 5:19 pm

On board both. Flanders may have a slight edge with JS, but hard to say whether Collingwood plays any kids early. Soudnds like Macrae hasn’t put a foot wrong so far.

    February 18, 2021 at 1:55 pm

Got a dilemma on my hands.. I’m having trouble picking a combo

Treloar and Sloane… only if treloar is fit round 1 as pies don’t tag, and he can pump out huge numbers as he has a point to prove. And im not sure on Sloane as he could be selwood of last year and average 70 – 80.

Walsh and daicos both up and coming but not quite proven stars like the other two so there is alot of risk involved if they flop and don’t continue on from last year.

    • LW

      February 18, 2021 at 2:29 pm

Sloane and Walsh and pocket some $?

    • bomberpap

      February 18, 2021 at 5:17 pm

Levi Greenwood is a pretty handy tagger if he plays, and he probably knows exactly how to negate Treloar.

I’d suggest Sloane and Walsh too, as per LW.

    • Euman

      February 18, 2021 at 9:02 pm

I’m crazy but I’m going youth Walsh and daicos

How would everyone complement the selections of Phillips and Stephenson?

    Dunkley & a rookie

    Rozee & Schoenberg

    Cameron & Daniher

All common selections but due to be one of the big differentials between coaches this season.

    • Daniel

      February 18, 2021 at 4:38 pm

      Dunks and a rookie

      • LW

        February 18, 2021 at 4:58 pm

Dunkley and a rookie is definitely the safest, however, possibly the lowest ceiling.

    • bomberpap

      February 18, 2021 at 5:15 pm

Dunkley can score anywhere between 60 and 180.. massive variance..but no one else in the forward line possesses that kind of ceiling. For what it’s worth I don’t buy into Philips or Stephenson’s hype this pre-season.. Collingwood are a high disposal team and they’ve also enjoyed a fair bit of success in recent years… I can’t see the Hawks or North being contenders this year and both players will likely have to play much more defensive roles at their new clubs. Not touching either of them unless they dominate the pre-season AAMI match.

      • LW

        February 18, 2021 at 5:34 pm

Ceiling in terms of Dunkley likely going somewhere around 100 + the 55 of a rookie is a total of 155.

Comparing to the ceiling of career best averages of Cameron and Daniher, which combined is 172.

I don’t see the argument of not picking players that are not in teams that are contending. I for one have the greater interest in the role that such player is playing.

        • Squid

          February 18, 2021 at 9:40 pm

This comparison makes no sense, Dunks and rook is a pretty fair 155 points 1 keeper and one $200k+ profit cash cow you will eventually trade in for another 100ave player.

Cameron and Idiot whiskers is a VERY speculative 172 points (just as likely 120) no keepers and 2 trades to make potentially not very much at all.

Is this troll LW or (original)? Because this is not the sort of question and thinking that is posed by someone who knows what they’re doing and can confidently and competitively answer the questions of people who require assistance.

    • Dazza

      February 18, 2021 at 8:59 pm

      Dunk and rookie for me

    • Squid

      February 18, 2021 at 9:25 pm

“Very nice selections LW, I reckon you have made an excellent selection decision, well done!”…. OK I know that’s not what you mean.

I’ve got Phillips F3 so Dunks and Neck Tatt for me but since I know you bizarrely don’t rate perhaps the best ever modern day footy player and perennial top 6 forward at his lowest starting price for ages in a season where the fantasy salary cap is as tight as the real thing I’ll go Dunks and a rook if you can find one.

Phillips is not a starting F1 option IMO.

    Ruck… Tim English maybe?

    • LW

  13. Brian Smith

    February 18, 2021 at 6:19 pm

Any thoughts – Zerrett or Rocky? I think Rocky has higher ceiling, but Zac is more consistent.

    • LW [original]

      February 18, 2021 at 6:42 pm

Zerrett is ripe for the picking, spend majority of time in engine room, rocky will be affected by the minimized rotations. could rest forward or excessive spells on the bench. good luck but Merrett for me.

        And your purpose of this?

  14. bye bye Eddie

    February 18, 2021 at 7:31 pm

obviously the Marshall/Preuss thing has made me re-do my team a lot but I’m not happy with it.

DEF: Laird, Stewart, Williams, Milera, Cumming, H Young
MID: Merrett, Walsh, Serong, Rowell, Cunnington, Hately, Green, Phillips
    RUC: ROB, Draper
FWD: Dunkley, Phillips, Rozee, Cockatoo, F Macrae, Rowe

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Finlay McRae or Maginess?

    • LW [Why Don't you Choose a Different Alias?]

      February 18, 2021 at 8:09 pm

From the footage I observed in the Hawks scratch match it seemed as though Maginness was in the possibles and not the probables.

I would lean towards Macrae should he play.

    Titch fitness pending

  17. Chris

    February 18, 2021 at 8:08 pm

Well here goes nothing, pick away.. any advice no matter good or bad I’ll take on board, finished 112th last year.

DEF: Laird, Stewart, Williams, milera, h. Young, l. Young (Gould, wehr)

Mids: Merrett (vc), Treloar (seeing if he gets up but can easily change him) taranto, daicos, Rowell, cunnington, maginness, Phillips. (Powell, mead)

Rucks: gawn (c) draper (taking a chance) (flynn)

Fwds: Phillips, Caldwell, Stephenson, Campbell, cockatoo, macrae (Rowe, cahill)

    Utl (kelly)

I realise the forward line is weaker than I’d like but I’m trying to pay up for rookies who might have an impact which means less cash to put in to other areas.

    • bomberpap

      February 18, 2021 at 9:36 pm

Quite similar structure to me. I like the 3 forward rooks set up. Some suggestions.. you could go Stephenson down to another promising rook like Flanders.. then use the cash to go Phillips up to Dunkley for an extra keeper.

I think Dunkley plus Flanders would outscore Phillips plus Stephenson.. and saves you a trade as Dunkley is guaranteed top 6 forward.

Stewart has had an interrupted preseason too.. so could switch to Crisp as a unique alternative. Though I really like the pick if he’s fully fit.

      • Chris

        February 18, 2021 at 10:31 pm

Cheers bomberpap I actually never saw anything about Stewart so thanks for the heads up. I was tossing up between Howe but coming off an acl not sure, I liked Caleb Daniel too but not sure

FWD: Dunkley, Phillips, Rozee, Caldwell, Cockatoo, Macrae

You probably have 11 keepers which is a solid foundation for success.

Just wondering what should I do, should I have Cockatoo and Finlay Macrae at FWD5&6 and have Will Phillips as my MID8 or should I have Cockatoo at MID8 and then have Daniher and Sam Flanders or Finlay Macrae as my FWD5&6
