Tinkering with the team is the only way I’m getting through the working week! With this current squad I’ve got $11k left.
Backs: LLoyd, Mcdonald, Z. Williams, Milera, Ash & H. Young
Mids: Mitchell, Taranto, B. Crouch, Rowell, Hately, W. Phillips, Campbell & Powell
Rucks: Grundy & Pruess
Forwards: Heeney, T. Phillips, Cladwell, Franklin, Ugle-Hagan & Flanders
Bench: L Young, D. Grainger-Barrass, Perkins, Valente, Comben, Patton, Worrell & Gould

Personally I wouldn’t start with McDonald. He had a career-best season last year, and that probably means he’s topped out, you’d be getting him at his most expensive. North have the first bye round, so McDonald is the perfect upgrade target.

January 7, 2021 at 7:24 pm
Awesome for My Team to be back for another year!! Been working on the current structure of having expensive rookies who are likely to play early. Any good 170 ones can come in and offer more cash.
DEF: Lloyd, Whitefield, Williams, H.Young, L. Young, DGB (Gould, Wehr)
MID: M.Crouch, Mitchell, Cripps, Taranto, Rowell, Phillips, Pedlar, Powell (Davies, Mead)
RUC: ROB, Preuss (Comben)
FWD: Dunkley, Heeney, Phillips, JUH, McDonald, Campbell (Rowe, Kelly)

I would monitor the young talls.
B King only made about 50-100k on top of his start price for memory. M King would’ve been similar but played his first game at 170k due to missing through injury.
Are Lloyd and Whitfield overpriced?
Luke Parker
January 7, 2021 at 10:08 pm
True but like the fact McDonald played senior footy and gets up the ground a lot, plus it’s a stretch to say he and DGB (elite interceptor and fills the Stratton/Sicily hole). Think those two plus Jamara offer good job security even with the risk of low scoring on occasion, The Kings proved that.
As for Lloyd and Whitefield think they’re clearly the top 2 defenders and after experimenting with defenders last year want the safety of these two. Sure they may not offer much value but both will at least maintain their averages.
Cheers for the feedback!!

To find any good 170k players look at the players who were drafted last year but didn’t play. Players such as Kemp CAR; Bergman PTA, C Stephens & Sam De Koning GEE, Worrell ADE etc.. there are still a few around

I’m going into my 4th season and I can’t wait for the season to start.
I’ve got 10k left
DEF: Whitfield, Laird, Williams, Milera, L Young, Robertson (Gould, McLennan)
MID: M Crouch, Mitchell, Cripps, Rowell, Hately, Phillips, Powell, RCD (Bianco, Valente)
RUC: Grundy, Preuss (Comben)
FWD: Marshall, De Goey, Heeney, Phillips, Franklin, Rowe (Robertson, Patton
UTL: Byrnes
I’m liking Marshall because of Ryder be injured and he is a back up option if Preuss fails.

Is Whitfield worth 170k more than the 650k defenders?
$ could strengthen your D4-6
Would be my early thoughts.
Mr AFL Fantasy
January 7, 2021 at 8:00 pm
Thanks for the thoughts mate, I have been switching between Whitfield and Witherden a lot recently then I use that money for D6 but for now I have Whitfield there, will probably change that tonight though.
Kingzy
January 8, 2021 at 1:08 pm
It is worth spending the extra money.
Witherden is not guaranteed a spot in a stacked Eagles DEF line.
Whitfield and Lloyd are among the top scorers in the game, to have them both in DEF which is generally not the highest scoring line makes them a must have.
I started without Lloyd last year and I could not get him in all season due to his price, wont make that mistake again

Your right on Wd.
This season there are a few teams in the transition of going from experienced ruck to new guys such as the three you said. Don’t forget in RUC this season Naismith is back from injury and should score 85+ and Witts is down 20pts. Tom Campbell NTH played one game last year and may be given more ops.
D Fort GEE and and a big one is A Smith BRI, played 5 games last year and is 299k

H Young/Roberton/Gould
Titch/Treloar/Taranto/Walsh
Sloane/Rowell/Powell/Mead

Buddy/Rowe/D Robertson
Some wishful thinking with the cheaper rooks and the fitness of Buddy and Roberton. I figure I can always swap Sloane to Cunnington for some extra cash.

Thats a very good team this early into pre-season Jack
D1-D3 : is v good (i resting on LAIRD until MID role confirmed in last game pre-season) Is Z WILLIAMS or HOWE less or more of a choice to DOCHERTY given 2020 ok but under hoped & expected
D4-D6 : YOUNG a great choice. Should improve 15pts with 2nd yr and more confidence and responsibility, ROBERTSON may be great choice if back unless health delays start. GOULD is only 2019 SYD draft crop that did not play 2020 and is due, SYD keen for him to wet his whistle
M1-M4 : TITCH had great great return from LTI, TRELOAR has something to prove but can WBD midfield get enough points for all their guns (Bont, Treloar, HUNTER, Macrae, B Smith, Dunkley etc) and dogs need a successful year to give them all a points opportunity. WALSH will contimue to improve and CAR are in for at least a consolidated year but should get 2-3 more wins
D5-D8 : SLOANE should be good for 90-95+ and ADE finish to the year showed confidence was a part of there run and losses and should improve. ROWELL will jet, just dont expect him to be as explosive first few gms. POWELL has great U18 numbers and will be good. Can he be a new Walsh or Rowell? and J MEAD a PTA 2019 draft crop who didnt get gms and should get ample opportunity, is a solid player too
R1-R2 : Nuf Sed!
F1-F3 : DANGERFIELD with Cameron traded in will go back to midfield all but when rested or GEE struggling. Expect him to increase 8-10pts PHILLIPS will play off the wing had two 90’s seasons with pie’s going back couple years and i expect him to had 20 points more in him than last year. CALDWELL is less predictable but again should be playing on a wing in ESS plan and may get to 80-84pts, he may require an overall stronger performance by the ESS midfield for him to achieve his upper range
F4-F6 : BUDDY if fit, if on the park long enough, can get back into the 80-90 pt range. You wouldn’t plan on more, 18+ games, 50 goals and for us 80-90 pts would be a success for him, us and you. DEVEN ROBERTSON played R1 last season and under performed but so did the team. A year on, more conditioning you would expect when he gets his ops he will be in the 50 pt range
I would rather SLOANE for CUNNINGTON, they both will improve over this year. Cunnington has had a couple good pre-season mentions already but he isn’t going above mid 80s
cheers brother and good coaching over 2021

January 7, 2021 at 10:29 pm
Don’t mind the Serong pick especially with a TOG bump. Surely he plays more than the 70% he had in the 16 min quarters. His role should be pretty safe as an inside mid too as I can’t see him playing any other positions. Definitely one to watch
AH
January 7, 2021 at 11:36 pm

Daicos looks really good. Will up average this season by 10 at least and already has MID role. Whispers say he is going to get some inside MID game time. His brother looks like a top 10 draft prospect next year, even number one.

Everybody i guess will have to come to terms with the fact there will be a 3rd and 4th wave at some point. That there will be clusters here and there with isolation and closed borders frequently.
Players and civilians will need to have the mindset that sudden and unplanned change will be part of life for the foreseeable time.

I like it Kingzy strong def and fwd and the ruck is what you would expect. Mid line looks slightly weak but given your big def scorers should not be an issue and if all fire then you will score well. I’m not on buddy atm but that’s just me I’ve never selected him from memory. I had Payton last year was frustrating don’t think I could do it again but man he is cheap does he still have ruck status?

Well All set for another Year. Counting down the days. Here is my first crack at the winning team.
DEF Llloyd Laird Williams Milera Young DGB {2 Rook}
MID Oliver Mitchell Danger Sloane Rowell Hately Phillips Powell {2 Rook}
RK Grundy Pruess {Treacy}
FWD Marshall Jez Daniher Fantasia Rowe Patton {2Rook}
BANK120K
Just could not squeeze in Whitfield so if you can see a way let me know. Lloyd and Laird more reliable.
Will see how the rookies drop in the MID/FWD lines and will consider of removing Hately or one of the mid-price forwards at the expense of Williams or Milera.?
Yes Fantasia…… expecting him to take Eberts role. expect 75+ to the byes. Just hope for a good preseason with no reports of injury.? Caldwell will be a preseason watch.? if he is at the CB and getting his hand on the pill he starts in the FWD as a keeper. On watch {Rozee Heeny Bolton}
No Gawn …….No Neale hurts but just too expensive and to start them both ruins any sense of structure. But i will continue to find a way to get them both in the starting team.
Will rely on Danger Oliver Grundy Mitchell as VC/C options.
Have not considered the bye rounds as i expect lots of disruptions to the fixture list for the 2021 season.

Merrett and Greaves vs Walsh and Docherty
Feel like both have a lot of potential upside, I am pretty confident that Merrett can be one of the best mids in the comp this year. Also think Walsh could continue his improvement but unsure about how Z Williams impacts his scoring in the midfield. Think that Saad coming in could allow Docherty to get back to his old role a bit more. Only thing that has me leaning towards Walsh and Docherty is the fact that I am not really sold on Greaves, could have a good role with Sicily out but not sure if he will score enough consistently to be worth the punt

RUCK BENCH – jsut read in Josh Reynolds SC article 9/10 coaches have J Treacy FREO as their R3 (the onter coach has C Comben NTH. So my question is, will this guy play? I currently have gone with Dekonig as R3 obviously overspent by $133k versus a rookie like Treacy but he should be no 1 ruck at Blues based on every best 22 team i have seen listed on various sites. So if thats true is the extra 133k worth it so i would make cash and have a backup in the ruck. That said if htis Treacy is named round 1 then i will swap note Treacy is ruc/fwd

I don’t play or follow SC that much but I think that’s because they’re using Treacy as a loophole option. He has a lot of Sunday games and won’t play making him a prime candidate

Thoughts on Hugh Greenwood as a POD in midfield. Maybe not much room for growth but seems a consistent scorer.

Your thoughts would be correct, he would be consistent one would hope so no risk but no upside not that you have to have one. Only thought is wether Rowell return will affect his scores

Def: Whitfield, Laird, Docherty, Williams, Young, Roberton (Gould, Bianco)
Mid: Titch, Sloane, Rowell, Heppell, Cunnington, Ward, Phillips, Gulden (Collier-Dawkins, Davies)
Ruc: Grundy, Preuss (Hayes)
Fwd: Dangerfield, Heeney, Philips, Franklin, Campbell, Perkins (Rowe, Robertson)
Uti: N. Cox
I know it looks a bit light on in the mids but after going against my gut and at the last minute selecting a fully priced Whitfield, Dunks and Maccrae last season (which backfired big time as it very quickly derailed my season), I’ve decided to steer well away from the “fully priced” guns and chase value.. If one of Sloane, Heppell, Cunnington or Ward look underdone in the preseason will likely plug in Taranto and downgrade on the the defender premos

Nice team Powerade. Back the backline is as greasy as the Chinese food I ate last night and extraction out of the A-Hole this morning. Not sure those two freo number makers are worth putting in the team. Kind of made me laugh lol

Should they both start, who are people leaning towards.
Caldwell or Brodie.
Massive watch for roles.

January 12, 2021 at 9:02 pm
I am set on Caldwell, they loved what he could bring at the giants but they couldn’t give him mid experience due to their mid stars. I reckon he has to be getting at least enough mid time to be worth it at Essendon and could potentially break out and become a great pick
Brodie on the other hand, he has floated in and out of my team but in the end I can’t really convince myself that he will firstly consistently play and if he does, get enough mid time with the likes of Rowell, Anderson and Greenwood in there. However, should his pre season continue how it is at the moment, and he can convince u of a mid role in 2021 then he definitely could be value, but the risk is high.
In summary, I reckon Caldwell is both the safer pick, and has more potential upside (and is 1k cheaper lol) and should be put in ur team before brodie
Good Luck, Hope this helped!

Hey everyone.
Just wondering where people are looking at previous years stats. I have always been using fanfooty but on the mobile I am starting to find it a bit cumbersome.
Any suggestions? I did think the AFL fantasy site could do it as I have fantasy coach subscription as well but the stats from previous years don’t seem to show.

170k option Dylan Robertson of Saints stepping away from football to consider future. This might be it for the poor guy. In a lot of teams at the moment

Here we go again…
DEF – Whitfield, Duggan, Z.Williams, Milera, Young, Roberton (J.Smith, Gould)
MID – T.Mitchell, Dangerfield, Taranto, Sloane, Rowell, W.Phillips, Powell, Roberson (Collier-Dawkins, Gulden)
RUC – Grundy, English (Sweet)
FWD – Zorko, Heeney, T.Phillips, Franklin, Perkins, Patton (Rowe, W.Kelly, UTL – Bianco)
16k remaining.
Early days, I feel its a pretty generic team for this time of the year especially my midfield. Any feedback hit me up.

Hey PK,
Firstly, I reckon u gotta have Preuss in ur tm. Unless u have a really good reason not too he is just too cheap with too much upside to ignore. If u r really keen on English, u could always swap grundy for preuss which would give u heaps of cash to spend elsewhere but u would have to go into the season without one of the big rucks, could be a big play but it does mean u will need a lot of cash generation to catch up to them during the season.
Another thing im curious abut is Zorko. I know he had a good year last year but I just feel like he’s starting to get to that age where his scoring output might start to slowly decrease. Personally I like Sidebottom if u could find the cash to upgrade him, otherwise there are other options around his price if u chose to switch him.
Other than that u have some nice players, a couple of PODs in there which is good, and ur backing ur gut with guys like Duggan. I reckon if u could find a way to add something else to the midfield, whether it’s someone like Daicos or even cheaper like Hately both of which I am expecting improvement from this year, then that would definitely help with some extra cash generation
Good Luck, Hope this helped

Hey mate cheers for the feedback. Yeah im just not sold on Preuss, definitely on my watchlist for preseason games. English is primed for a breakout just whether its this year or not.. would free up alot of cash but!
Zorko has so much upside and should be around the 95-100 avg mark, id love to have sidey but his starting price means he will be an upgrade target at this stage.
Ive already gone Duggan to Docherty haha but hes a smokey for an AA spot this year i reckon. Midfield definitely needs a little bit more, but my side will change a million times before round one. Cheers 🍻

DEF
Whitfield Crisp Docherty
Milera H Young Gould
MID
Titch Walsh Taranto Sloane
Rowell Hately W Phillips Kemp
RUCK
Grundy Preuss
FWD
Dangerfield Marshall T Phillips
Buddy D Robertson Rowe
Thoughts? Looks a bit generic on paper, my only regret is not being able to fit Lloyd.
– Crisp is probably not value but I think he’ll be very consistent and a POD after everyone got mad at him last year. Could always drop to Z Williams for an extra $100k for more expensive rookies
– Milera at least 15 points under if he’s fit and named Round 1.
– Walsh went 117 after the byes… I mean.
– Way to much value to pass up Taranto, Sloane and Rowell
– Marshall provides security if Preuss flops
– Buddy fitness pending

Would love some feedback on the team fellas!
D: Lloyd, Whitfield, Williams, J Clark, Young, Gould (Worrell, Wehr)
M: Adams, Titch, Taranto, Daicos, Rowell, Powell, Carroll, Kemp (Valente, RCD)
R: Grundy, Pruess (Fullarton)
F: Sidebottom, Dangerfield, Brodie, Buddy, Rowe, Robertson (Kelly, Bergman)
Util: Davies
5k
I reckon coz the cats kept clark, they are bound to give him games and from what we saw in 2019, he is a very capable scorer and he is at a discount since he only played 3 games lat yr.
I really want walsh but cant find a way to squeeze him in. I think daicos will take a massive leap this year with added opportunity.
At the moment, brodie and caldwell are interchangeable
