ITâS THURSDAY!!
Last week had some massive scores which was pretty disappointing to see. I had a 2395 with Coniglio! That’s not right at all. We’re getting into the tail end of the season now so hopefully coaches begin to rest their star players, will it start this week? Let’s find out!
Round 18 kicks off 19:50 AEST Friday night so make sure you have all your trades and emergencies locked in by then! The Traders will be reacting LIVE today from 18:15 AEST on the Official AFL Fantasy Facebook page to the team announcements, so think of this article as your text-based companion guide.
As always, this post will be updated as more information comes in, so if youâve seen some news that Iâve missed feel free to tweet it at me and Iâll follow it up.
Adelaide vs Essendon
Tom Lynch is finally back. Brodie Smith holds despite the illness, it’s Tyson Stengle who makes way.
Will Snelling (207k MID) debuts! Dyson Heppell is back as well alongside Patrick Ambrose and Michael Hartley. Michael Hurley and Orazio Fantasia are injured, Zac Clarke is ill, and Jayden Laverde is being managed.
Richmond vs Port Adelaide
Kamdyn McIntosh and Derek Eggmolesse-Smith have been omitted. Jack Graham and Liam Baker come in. Patrick Naish is once again not even listed as an emergency.
Port Adelaide lose Ollie Wines, Ryan Burton, and Brad Ebert.  Dan Houston, Xavier Duursma, and Matthew Broadbent are back in.
Carlton vs Gold Coast
Jacob Weitering will return from injury to take the place of Hugh Goddard. Mitch McGovern misses another week.
Don’t say this too often but big selection news at the Suns! Brad Scheer has been omitted, Cripps owners breathe a sigh of relief. Josh Corbett is also omitted, Anthony Miles suspended, and Lachie Weller is ill. Corey Ellis, Peter Wright, Chris Burgess, and Jacob Dawson (292k MID) are the ins.
GWS vs Collingwood
No Hately, Bonar, or Caldwell, it’s Jake Stein that comes in with Jeremy Finlayson and Shane Mumford. Stephen Coniglio is out injured, Adam Kennedy and Matt Buntine have been omitted.
Four injuries for Collingwood, Darcy Moore, Jamie Elliott, John Noble, and Levi Greenwood are all out. Their replacements are Jeremy Howe, Taylor Adams, Travis Varcoe, and Flynn Appleby. Scott Pendlebury holds despite having finger surgery.
Brisbane vs North Melbourne
Luke Hodge returns after having the week off while Hugh McCluggage and Eric Hipwood are also in after passing their fitness tests. Lachie Neale will play despite the damage to his eye. Ryan Lester, Josh Walker, and Ben Keays have been omitted.
Mason Wood and Shaun Higgins both return alongside Sam Durdin. Luke McDonald is injured, Curtis Taylor and Paul Ahern have been omitted.
Fremantle vs Sydney
Big out here, Nat Fyfe injured. Travis Colyer, Ryan Nyhuis, and Ethan Hughes have been omitted. Taylin Duman, Aaron Sandilands, Griffin Logue, and Brett Bewley are the ins.
Four changes for the Swans as well. Robbie Fox, Hayden McLean (170k FWD), Ryan Clarke, and Ryley Stoddart come in. Jordan Dawson is suspended, Harry Cunningham injured, Ben Ronke and Kieren Jack omitted.
Geelong vs Hawthorn
One out so far in Brandon Parfitt. Zac Smith, Scott Selwood, Jake Kolodjashnij, James Parsons, and Sam Simpson have been added to the extended bench.
Jonathon Ceglar, James Cousins, and Darren Minchington (324k MID) have been added to the bench with no confirmed outs so far. Jack Gunston named on field.
Melbourne vs West Coast
Corey Wagner, Josh Wagner, Oskar Baker, and Tim Smith have been added to the extended bench with no confirmed outs yet, although Tim Smith was flagged as an inclusion by the coach earlier.
Jamie Cripps and Nic Naitanui are out injured. The Eagles haven’t shown their hand yet, Jake Waterman, Jack Petruccelle, Francis Watson (A super exciting to watch 170k DEF), Will Schofield, Bailey J. Williams (202k RUC/FWD), and Matthew Allen (170k MID/FWD) have all been added to the extended bench.
St. Kilda vs Western Bulldogs
One out so far in Ben Long. Doulton Langlands (170k MID/FWD) will debut, named in the forward pocket. Matthew Parker, Bailey Rice, Darragh Joyce, and Sam Rowe are the other potential ins. No Dan Hannebery for another week.
Tom Liberatore and Caleb Daniel are back, although only named to the bench. They’re joined by Rhylee West (220k MID), Bailey Dale, and… Dale Morris! Toby McLean is out injured.

Murphy if you’re sensible – Greene if you’ve got big plums.

Bring in Snelling this week and make some cash or go Brayshaw up to Fyfe?

Thinking the same but Cripps instead of Fyfe, could always give snelling a week and get him next week.

Really would appreciate some advice. Who do you guys think will be the best for the rest of the year out of Taranto, Merrett or Duncan? Thanks!

In all likelihood the difference between them is going to be marginal. I think the answer is probably Taranto, especially after Cogs and Kelly have gone down. Personally I’d go Duncan because he’s the lowest owned, gamble on him outscoring the other two so you can overtake people ahead of you. But yeah Taranto.

Trade or hold Fyfe? Somehow Brayshaw is looking like surviving another week thanks to injury, never again

Yeah, Gus Brayshaw is nothing if not a survivor.

Same boat as I have Cogs and Fyfe, everytime I am sorted to get rid of him, something else comes up. He will be rookie priced by the time he goes
Donât have anything in bank and was happy with Murphy and Cripps for Cogs and Brayshit, but now not sure what to do

FWIW I’m holding Fyfe for this round and I’ll see what his fitness situation is like next week. I already have a forced trade with Cogs and need to attend to other issues in my squad, namely offloading non-playing rookies to keep the cash coming in.
Bloody carnage isn’t it?! Is GWS jinxed perhaps?

Upgrade depending on the trades I do, but I just one more player, Duncan, Merrett, Henderson, Cripps ( I’m not sold on him again) Oliver, Hunter, Sidebottom…. fighting for a top eight stop so I sort of need to trade

Sorry, they are my options I’m choosing from

Duncan or Merrett but look at your opponents for the next few weeks and decide if you want to cover the same player or have a unique.

Laird, Newman or salam?

Laird is at 45% ownership, not sure he’s a worthwhile target. Newman looks the play with three consecutive 100+ scores.
