Team Sheets – Rd. 8

All the news, rumours, and team sheets for round 8!

It’s Thursday!!

Round 7 delivered big time!  Finally the chaos arrived, it was an absolute disaster all around.  Rookies were rested, guns were scoring 60’s, Dangerfield was a captain, it was beautiful.  More of the same this week please.

Round 8 kicks off 19:50 AEST Friday night so have all your trades locked in by then!  The Traders will be reacting LIVE today from 18:15 AEST on the Official AFL Fantasy Facebook page to the team announcements, so think of this article as your text-based companion guide.

As always, this post will be updated as more information comes in, so if you’ve seen some news that I’ve missed feel free to tweet it at me and I’ll follow it up.

Sydney vs Essendon

Lance Franklin is…not in! Harry Cunningham is out with his torn adductor, he’s replaced by Colin O’Riordan.

Some notable inclusions for Essendon in Zac Clarke and Brayden Ham!  Orazio Fantasia and David Myers are also in, the outs are Joe Daniher, Jordan Ridley, Kyle Langford, and Mark Baguley.

Western Bulldogs vs Brisbane

Matt Suckling returns for the Bulldogs, he replaces Tory Dickson.

Harris Andrews is back, I think we’ll know how good Aaron Naughton actually is after this game.  Zac Bailey is the other inclusion, Answerth survives, the outs are Josh Walker and Lewis Taylor.

Carlton vs Collingwood

Liam Jones is out concussed and Andrew Phillips and Lochie O’Brien are omitted.  Matthew Kreuzer, Mitch McGovern, and Will Setterfield are in.

Dayne Beams has not been able to get up in time so Rupert Wills (325k MID) comes into the sideTaylor Adams is set to miss a month with an adductor strain, he’s replaced by Chris Mayne.

Gold Coast vs Melbourne

Pearce Hanley, Jack Lukosius, Sean Lemmens and Lachie Weller are four strong ins for Gold Coast, Brayden Fiorini (!) and Aaron Young are out injured, George Horlin-Smith and Jesse Joyce have been dropped.

Jack Viney is in!  No Brayden Preuss yet, the sole out is Alex Neal-Bullen.

St. Kilda vs West Coast

First look at Ed ‘King’ Phillips in 2019, one to watch in future.  Luke Dunstan and Nathan Brown are the other two inclusions.  Darragh Joyce, Hunter Clark, and Jonathon Marsh are out.

I know a few Eagles fans that will be happy to see this…Chris Masten is out!  Jake Waterman is in on the back of some hot WAFL form.

Port Adelaide vs Adelaide

Both co-captains Ollie Wines and Tom Jonas will miss the Showdown for Port Adelaide, the former looking like he’ll be out for at least a month.  Brad Ebert will also miss with a concussion while Riley Bonner and Zak Butters have been omitted.  Matthew Broadbent returns for his first game since 2017.  Steven Motlop, Aidyn Johnson, and Kane Farrell are the other three inclusions.

Bryce Gibbs is out with back spasms, Luke Brown is in.

North Melbourne vs Geelong

No out for North yet.  Curtis Taylor (180k MID/FWD), Kyron Hayden (170k MID/FWD), Luke Davies-Uniacke, and Sam Durdin are added to the squad.

Zach Guthrie is the sole out so far.  Charlie Constable, Darcy Fort, James Parsons, Joel Selwood and Zach Tuohy have been added.  Patrick Dangerfield named so far, a late out after lockout would be brutal so make sure you have a forward emergency ready.

Hawthorn vs GWS

Two outs for Hawks so far, both pretty suspect.  Jarryd Roughead is playing in the VFL…? OK.  And Chad Wingard is “injured”.  Mmm.  Conor Glass, Harry Morrison, Jack Scrimshaw, James Cousins, James Frawley, and Jonathon Ceglar the ins.

Three outs so far, two are pretty brutal.  Shane Mumford and Jackson Hately will hurt some coaches out there, Aidan Corr out as well.  The biggest dagger however is no Lachie Whitfield!  Dawson Simpson, Harry Perryman, Josh Kelly, Lachlan Keeffe, Matthew Flynn, Phil Davis, and Zac Langdon the potential inclusions.

Fremantle vs Richmond

Connor Blakely has not been included, the Fantasy star will have to wait another week.  Brennan Cox, Brett Bewley (again), Sean Darcy, and Taylin Duman have been added with no confirmed outs yet.

Nick Vlaustin and Daniel Rioli are both out injured but you’d expect them both to be back next week.  Dan Butler, David Astbury, Ivan Soldo, Jake Aarts, Riley Collier-Dawkins, and Ryan Garthwaite fill the bench.

Hey legends, im stuck on a few trade options this week, would appreciate any thoughts. Have 101k in bank currently and 5 rooks on field (Hore D6, Walsh M7, Ross M8, Miers F5, Drew F6). Bench rooks are Stack/Young, Hayes/Answerth, ROB/Cameron, Petru/Burgess.

    1) Drew / Petru (fwd bench) > Daniel/Corbett + 34k. Most logical, Corbett becomes Fwd E, Daniel a top 6 prospect in 2 lines.

    2) Miers / Drew > Boak/ named fwd rook under 187k. Petru on field, rook as E. Gets in #1 Fwd, potentially misses a bit more cash from miers. Petru on field a concern, as is untried rook to cover Danger.

    3) Danger (F1)/ Walsh > Boak/Daniel via Drew DPP +10k. Drew Mid E, Hayes/Ross at M7/M8. Potentially plays BE game with Danger, culls Walsh before a hard fortnight.

    Thoughts?

I don’t know which trade is best, but I will say that this is not the week to be trading out Drew, could be going back to scoring 80/90 with Wines out. Find another way to get your deals done.

      Or 4) Walsh + Petru > Corbett and any mid/fwd (Boak/Gaff etc) + 100-150k depending on player.

Gets down to 4 rooks on field, plus some cash and ripe cows to upgrade again next week (Drew, Miers, Hore, Ross etc)

    1 or 3.
I do not know what to do about Danger. If Cats declare he will lineup, I will keep him.
If hes less than 51% chance to play, I think I will trade and get Danger/Walsh to Boak/Zorko (or Daniel) or Danger/Rozee to Boak/Ziebell.
Can u comment on these potential trades please.

News from Geelong – no decision likely on Danger until Saturday complicates matters. Also said that he doesnt have any further chance of injury, just a matter of getting the best out of him this week? Scott says he will be named in extended squad, decision on sat. Choices choices.

Zorko the best ceiling of your options, certainly not been on the ball as much as years gone pat though. Ziebell role change looks good- but for how long? I dont have rozee so dont know his BE, but if its high probably better to bounce him before Walsh

Hey man, yeah the danger thing is doing my head in. Them leaving a decision till game time on Sunday makes things tricky.
At this stage I’m leaning towards trading him… at worst it can be seen as a dumb sideways break even play, but getting rid of him and Libba nets me two pretty reliable players. Danger has had a ceiling but been pretty frustrating to own I reckon. I worthy start but not quite the must have I thought he was. I’ll probably see him again hopefully $100k cheaper after missing a week!

Hard one. At this moment I’m thinking of keeping Danger. I’ll just cover him with a rookie, and worry about more important things: like sending Libba to the dog house.

Danger has a BE of 153 and Rozee has a BE of 62. I like the trade to Boak/Ziebell. Ziebell has been killing it the past 2 weeks and is likely to continue the role.

    Im trading
Massive BE and can’t see him playing considering it is NM and possible it will turn into 2 weeks
Regardless he will be stuck in forward line and restricted mobility and continually drop in price
Too many forwards from R12/13 byes anyway and others (Kelly/Boak) are better options
IF fully fit get him back in R14 for less

The Chad is “injured” – hurt feelings.

I’m keeping Danger for now and I have cover if he is out – so be it, at least I won’t have C on 38 again. My Libba rage has not abated and I must get rid of him. So, I am going Libba/Putridcelli to Fyfe/Corbett.

Are there better options than Corbett with JS? I would go Ham, but he will probably just last a week.

    Grundy, Gawn ( fort, Smith)

Danger, Kelly, Billings, Worpel, Miers, drew ( Corbett, Parker)

    Got 201 in the bank

Bit stick this week Parker prob needs to go but not many rookies coming through, any suggestions would be great will give em back

Big cash on your bench mate (Scrim, Conts, Parker) plus some cows for the milking (Walsh, Rozee, Duurs) and cash in the bank. Upgrade time!

From a very quick look, maybe
      1) cash in one of rooks (maybe Parker?) to playing sub 200k rook.
      Then either:
      – cash in scrim or rozee, flick stack back to D, drew to mids, boak in fwd line.
      – conts to top 8 mid of choice

Both get a rook off field and an end of season lock on it

Hey guys, With Mummy out injured, I’m now looking at trading him.
Should I be trading him up to Grundy or is that mad with him having a 136k be?

If I go down, it will be to a 170k rook (fielding O’Brien), and upgrading Duursma to Treloar or Boak with 123k cash left over.
If i get Grundy, it will be Duursma down to Answerth+27K or Corbett+68k.

O’Brien has a trerrible draw for a ruckman, whilst Grundy’s looks very juicy, especially this week.

Larkey is my cover for Danger, however If we are told he is out before lockout, I’m going Danger to Ziebell, Mummy to Grundy.

I think get Grundy, you’ll need him at some point so save a trade and get him in now, take his points, BE not high enough to save you a heap in a few weeks so don’t factor it in to your decision.

Out of those trades I like the look of 1, only because we know that Gawn is almost certainly a top 2 ruck and he is probably a must have.
