Team Sheets – Rd. 5

All the news, rumours, and team sheets for round 5!

  • Avatar

It’s Thursday!!

Brutally disappointing teams yet again, seriously where is the carnage!?

Round five kicks off tonight, so make sure you have all your players from Brisbane and Collingwood locked in before 19:35 AEDT!  The Traders will be reacting LIVE from 18:15 AEDT on the Official AFL Fantasy Facebook page to the team announcements, so think of this article as your text-based companion guide.

Don’t forget we have double partial lockout as well, so your North Melbourne and Essendon players will be locked from 16:20 AEDT on Friday before full lockout at 20:10 AEDT.

As always, this post will be updated as more information comes in, so if you’ve seen some news that I’ve missed feel free to tweet it at me and I’ll follow it up.

Updates:

Joe Daniher has been called up from outside the squad for Essendon! Zac Clarke has been omitted.  Rumours are that Brayden Ham (170k FWD) will debut for David Zaharakis.

Charlie Constable is set to be rested for Geelong.

Anthony Miles is out for Gold Coast, Brad Scheer enters the 26 man squad.

Chayce Jones is out with concussion for Adelaide. Tyson Stengle comes into the 26 man squad.

Brisbane vs Collingwood

No changes to Brisbane after their heavy defeat to Essendon last week.

Collingwood make just the one change, Chris Mayne misses with his back injury, he’s replaced by Dayne Beams who was a late out last week.

North Melbourne vs Essendon

Luke McDonald and Tarryn Thomas out. Sam Wright and Bailey Scott come in.

DEVON SMITH IS OUUUUT.  The dreaded ‘rest’ sits next to his name.  Matt Guelfi comes in for him.

West Coast vs Port Adelaide

As forecast by coach Adam Simpson it is Lewis Jetta in, Josh Rotham out.

Steven Motlop is on SANFL duties after being axed for the Good Friday clash, he’s replaced by Todd Marshall. All four rookies hold their spot!

GWS vs Fremantle

Jackson Hately (244k MID) makes his debut!  He replaces the injured Callan Ward.

Nat Fyfe makes his return from concussion!  Lachie Schultz makes way.

Melbourne vs St. Kilda

Jordan Lewis, and Neville Jetta are in, but Brayden Preuss and Jay Lockhart have to wait a week.  Oscar McDonald and Billy Stretch have both been omitted.

Matthew Parker survives despite the ankle issue.  Daniel McKenzie and Hunter Clark are out, they’re replaced by Jarryn Geary and Jack Steven.

Richmond vs Sydney

Bachar Houli and Dustin Martin return for the tigers, but Jack Riewoldt doesn’t make it back this week.  Jack Graham and Connor Menadue are omitted.

Isaac Heeney is playing despite his hip complaint!  James Rowbottom (222k MID) and Ryan Clarke come in, Justin McInerney makes way after a poor debut and Nick Blakey after a so-so first month.

Western Bulldogs vs Carlton

Will Hayes (MID 170k) and Lachie Young (DEF 170k) make their debuts for the Bulldogs! Bailey Williams, Jackson Trengove, Patrick Lipinski, Roarke Smith, and Lin Jong are potential inclusions. Josh Schache, Taylor Duryea, and Matthew Suckling are the confirmed outs so far.

Will Setterfield is out for two games for his dangerous tackle on Wil Powell.  Carlton are rolling with an extended bench of Matthew Kreuzer, Cameron Polson, Jack Silvagni, Matthew Kennedy, and Angus Schumacher.

Adelaide vs  Gold Coast

No confirmed outs for Adelaide yet.  Sam Jacobs has been ruled out for 4-6 weeks after undergoing knee surgery, giving Reilly O’Brien (296k RUC) a clear stretch of ruck duties. Hugh Greenwood, Bryce Gibbs, Jordan Gallucci, and Elliott Himmelberg make up the extended bench.

Wil Powell misses with concussion as expected.  Gold Coast’s extended bench is made up of George Horlin-Smith, Will Brodie, Sam Day, Jacob Heron, and Aaron Young, but I’d expect the inclusion to be one of the first two listed there.

Hawthorn vs Geelong

James Frawley is the only confirmed out so far with his hamstring injury.  Kaiden Brand, Jaeger O’Meara, Dylan Moore, Tim O’Brien, and Mitchell Lewis are the potential inclusions.  It’s worth noting as well for James Cousins owners that he’s ominously placed in the middle of the extended bench.

No confirmed outs yet so far, Cameron Guthrie, Zach Guthrie, Zac Smith, and James Parsons have been added on to the bottom of the extended bench.  Jordan Clarke named at the top but not in the clear yet…

Yeah Clarke to Lockhart would have been a good way to get Parker to a gun but sounds like he won’t be named… Atkins to Ross?

Mumford to OBrien – you lose about 20 points per week but will make more money over the next few weeks
Then Parker to Billings/Daniels – you will make about 40-50 points each week more

Johannisen being out of the team while Daniel is in this hot streak makes me question whether this form is temporary. Newnes for me.

Confirmation that Will Hayes (MID, $170K) will debut for dogs. He had 19 touches and 85 points in the seconds.

    Best option:

A – Sheed to Libba/Adams/Neale, Setterfield to Ross

B – Sheed to Ross, Setterfield to Boak/Daniel

    My Team:
Which option do we reckon lads?
1.) Clark to Hore and Setterfield to Newnes which leaves me $4k. I’m not sold on Newnes but it’s the best I can get to that way.
2.) Williams to Hore and Setterfield to Heeney. Or go
3.) Clark to Hore and Setterfield down to Baker for cash?
Thoughts on what trades to do?

DEF: Lloyd, Whitfield, Smith, Williams, Duursma, Scrimshaw (Clark, McInerney)
MID: Macrae, Coniglio, Cripps, Rockliff, B.Crouch, Libba, Walsh, Constable (Stack, Gibbons)
    RUCK: Grundy, Witts (Flynn, Fort)
FWD: Dangerfield, Kelly, Worpel, Setterfield, Drew, Parker (Burgess, Balta)

    Cash: $133k.

Lol, I reckon “debits” might actually be appropriate! Surely Rd 1 is the only time to risk rookies on debut? Better to see how they go and then grab them if and when they’ve produced a decent score and their BE is lower – more cash to be made in the longer run. Maybe we could call it the Balta Factor :)

Agree with the cricket (as usual). Why waste a trade on someone who might score a 30 and be dropped for months? Always wait and see because worst case scenario it’s an extra 30k.

DEF: Laird, Lloyd, Smith, durrsma, scrimshaw, Clark (Burgess, Lockhart).
MID: Macrae, coniglio, Sloane, Rockliff, crouch, libba, Walsh, constable (Atkins, gibbons)
RUCK: Grundy, Gawn ( fort, sweet)
FWD: Danger, Kelly, Dunkley, Setterfield, drew, Parker (Petruccelle, Shultz)

    Only 22k in the bank.

What trades should I make here, Setterfield obviously needs to go and want to get him to worpel but finding it difficult to find the cash. Only way is maybe constable down to Ross (constable still has a lot of cash left in him though). Or do I go Setterfield to Miers and get hore in for Burgess or Ross/Hayes in for gibbons? Thoughts would be appreciated.

Don’t let the Setterfield dilemma wreck your team, trading out Constable isn’t the answer. My suggestions would be:

      1) Setterfield out, Burgess DPP forward, Hore in.

      2) Gibbons to Ross.

You’re taking a hit with scoring this week but your team is stable and you’re generating cash.

Can I trust that Parker will play for St.Kilda? If he doesn’t I get Balta’s score. (Miers is on Geelong’s bench so I can’t rely upon bringing him in.)

No new rookie fwds, A couple of mids and defenders. Most of them you would want to wait and see how they go, but Hately looks interesting, and also J. Ross if he can go as well as last week.

Parker is named, Ross looks good and Hayes is more of an option I feel than Hately

        April 18, 2019 at 7:55 pm

I’ll have to check them both out. You would think Hately, being such a high draft pick and with Ward now finished for the season, could have much better JS than Hayes, or maybe even Ross.

          April 19, 2019 at 9:59 am

If he had good JS you’d think he’d have squeezed him in earlier though. He may perform and become a regular, but Ross is a better option to bring in this week.

Put miers on the field, put the E on Parker and if your tossing up between Atkins/gibbons go gibbons Atkins is finding his feet and they love his pressure. Love the look of Ross the fact that graham and mena went out over him, as well as his vfl form bodes well for him. Watch hately this week check out his time spent in the middle/forward. You can also wait a week on Hayes.

Don’t stress to much about fielding a dud fwd this week eg the parkers/petruccelle/miers as everyone in the comp will near have to do the same
