Pull the Super Sub in ESPN Fantasy

The first two games have been played to start the 2013 AFL Premiership season and it’s been a mixed start for our Fantasy Footy teams. The ESPN Footytips.com.au Fantasy game can help us feel better about our initial selections with the super sub.

It’s not too late to sign up… with only players from four teams locked away, you can still play this fun fantasy game – with pretty good odds of winning one of the iPad minis. You can add Roy Calvin and Warnie to your league to take us on. Click here to sign up now.

After last weekend, I have cried our FMDT a few times as some of my players didn’t perform as I would have liked them too. My big premium of the year that I am banking on in all competitions is Patrick Dangerfield. He returned only 51 points and is set to drop in value slightly. ESPN Fantasy prices change after every round so your investments will fluctuate weekly based on how they’ve performed.

I’m going to pull my Super Sub on Dangerfield this week after paying $11.70 for him. The Super Sub basically works as a free trade and allows us to get maximum points for our teams. The catch is that you need to find someone who hasn’t played yet. At the moment, that’s easy… with players from 14 teams still not locked away.

I’m looking towards the trading game that is ESPN Fantasy by finding players who might have a patch of easy games coming up. With two trades per week and a rolling lockout, we can be smart in how we set our teams for each week. The Swans have a great early draw; GWS, Gold Coast, North Melbourne, Geelong, St Kilda and Brisbane Lions in their first six, they should get off to a great start and their stars should be looking good. For this season Dangerfield is likely to become either Ryan O’Keefe or Josh P Kennedy. Both are absolute stars and have some great history against their upcoming opponents. I an leaning towards JPK as he could improve even further on his great 2012 season.

If you’re not playing ESPN Fantasy, throw your hat into the ring and have a bit of fun with this game. The Super Sub is a very interesting part of the game. I’ll be looking to pull mine each weekend… there’s no room for underperformers for me; not even mid-round!
