Hang your head in shame: Round 13 Review

Holy hideousness… that was an awful round. We already had a few headaches thanks to the Collingwood bye and other injuries, but then we had some absolute shockers with some stars copping the vests this week (thanks heaps Bartel and Montagna). Anyway, the time is here to vent… or brag if you had a lucky Round 13!

Vent/Brag/Whatever: With an overall ranking of 130th I’m doing OK however I’m not impressed when every single week something happens i.e Bartel KO’ed e.t.c It’s frustrating the hell outta me!!! If for once I could have my ENTIRE team fire I think it seriously can compete with the best of the best. I know everyone can say the same thing however my team has been very consistent- not a team that pops in and out the top couple hundred or 1000 week in week out. Finally getting some competition in the “tkol challenge” from the man himself!!! I’m getting bored having been on top for along long time…lol

Monkey’s Magic?? if so then yes, you and tkol are my main challenge’s I suspect…but anything can happen!! my team has yet to really “bottom out” and produce a shithouse score- and no doubt when it does it’s going to be at the worst possible timing.

Yeah I thought this week was that week for me, but happily surprised my ranking still improved even with a poor round. If/when Franklin is rubbed out might bring some testing times. But after being ranked 25k early on I’m happy to where I’ve got to with still the trades left for the run home. I’ve enjoyed the competition in the TKOL challenge this year. Good to have a few decent dters around!

    On the Chopping Block: Hanley>Suckling
Vent/Brag/Whatever: Avoided the Boyd trap (thanks Calvin), wacked the big C on Sammy 1st week in. I.Smith was a champ as a fill in, wrapped to have traded out Knights and NVoldt a few weeks back, no Jelwood or Bartel in my team to worry about, Bailey did an admirable job filling in for Z. Smith and I’ve gone from about 10,000 4 weeks ago to 1,392. Quite chuffed

and Kreuzer… Only saw the second half but he was killing them in the ruck. How many draft picks do the Blues get for trading Warnock to the Giants? Be happy to have Setanta and Hampson as back up. I know that injuries can hit but Collingwood has kept going the right direction without Jolly, and Melbourne, Freo and Hawthorn have found options and the Blues have got more than they’ve used so far…

Sorry Robbie, glad to keep you for sure but don’t wanna really lose anyone when the seagulls come south, who is gonna be the left over chip?

Actually I’m just gonna shut up, it’s nice watching the blues at the moment and it’s better to just enjoy the now than worry about the still to happen, need to be paid to suffer that…

Good luck to all the clubs in what’s gonna happen and to the giants as well but if you fill up on ex-NRL players no one gets hurt (except the blokes who can’t spell NRL). :)

I hear Hampson is out for 8 weeks with a knee Kreuzer only back form 1 year out of the game.
So Warnock is a key player for the blues again can’t see them trading him. Also blues don’t need draft picks that bad they are not in a rebuild stage they are aiming at a flag within the next 3 years. Any draft picks will be used on mature age rookies or trades imo. In 2012 my DT will have a lot more Carlton player in it i like where they are headed.

Yeah I don’t know about this sportingbet challenge. Kreuzer top scored with 133. Jim Cowski says marc murphy 138 wins. I’ve got no idea of the rules if thats the case.

My lowest score ever has seen me tumble 4000 places to outside the top 5000. I wanted to throw my computer out the window last night, but instead I thought some good should come from this tragic weekend, so I thought I could use my story to all make you feel better about yourselves, so here are the ‘highlights’:

    Goddard 56
    Broughton 46
    Boyd (Capt) 70
    Bartel 2
    Heppell 58
    Montagna 45
    Johnson 72
    Riewoldt 29
    Knights 20
    Darling 44

And just to rub some salt into the wound, I had BOTH Otten and Isaac Smith on the pine… All this totalled up to a paltry 1587, my first cash league loss and a general feeling of humiliation.

So there you have it folks, you can all feel a little bit better about your own situation this week. :P

    Team Name: Incredible Sloths
    Round 13 Score: 2,228
    League Results: Don’t care
Eliminator Status: Lost in week 2 when I still had too many rookies
DT Studs: Savage, Ablett, Murphy, Gibbs, Rawlings
    DT Duds: Only really Goddard
On the Chopping Block: Heppell, McKenzie
Vent/Brag/Whatever: Came 42nd overall this week, despite missing 2 guns in Swan and Pendlebury. My plan of trying to win a weekly prize is getting closer. Entered the team for week 3 with a few premiums and lots of low price rookies and a heap of cash. Heavy trading since week 7 directly from the rookies to premiums with only 3 downgrades to go with 10 upgrades (and 1 sideways trade to get rid of Irons) means I now have 10 trades and $485k left. Need to upgrade 1 more player on each line, which will be Fisher in Defence, Sandi in the ruck when he’s back from injury, Montanga as my 6th/7th Mid when his price bottoms out, and a yet to be decided forward. Then I’ll be happy and keep the final 6 trades for injury/suspensions and if I haven’t won one by then, I should be able to really push for a weekly prize in the final 8 weeks or so…

144,000 or thereabouts, but it’s irrelevant for the strategy I’m playing.

The team didn’t score at all for the first 2 rounds and I didn’t crack the 2k barrier until round 9. Haven’t dropped below it since, though and the team still has a few weeks I’ve completed all the upgrades.

My team is currently valued at $10,487,300 and on top of that I have $485,200 in the bank…

    League Results: WWWWW
Eliminator Status: Lost last week – still spewing.
DT Studs: Ablett, Murphy, Gibbs, Shiels, Thompson, Chapman,Birchall & Harvey
DT Duds: Riewoldt, Goddard, Gilbert, Body (c)
On the Chopping Block: Darling & Gilbert
Vent/Brag/Whatever: Upgrading Heppell to Enright was a good call. Bringing Shiels in for Selwood worked well too. Bloody Boyd and the Friday captains rule… I did ignore the stats of Boyd not performing so well against the crows but I honestly thought he was in the form good enough to better that – wrong. Most importantly the Kangas beat the Bombers ooooh yeahhhh!!!

A little advice… After this double trade i’ll have 1 trade remaining but a very solid side… I’m going for points currently ranked at 113th and need to make about 500pts in the next 10rds. Burning two of my last 3 trades is a big gamble but I’m not one to go down wondering.

      Alex’s All Stars:
DEF: Gibbs, Deledio, Birchall, H Shaw, Enright, Goddard, Hibberd (Buckley, Puopolo, Retzlaf)
MIDS: Murphy, Pendlebury, Boyd, Thompson, Shiels, Ablett, (Prestia, B Jacobs, Irons)
      RUC: Cox, Smith, (Browne, McCauley)
FWD: Franklin, Sylvia, Harvey, Goodes, Chapman, Riewoldt, Mzungu, (Gilbert, Darling, Richardson)

Downgrade Darling and Upgrade Gilbert or just sit on it and keep the trades..?
