  • Who would be the best defender under the price of $270,000

  • Anyone got a link to watch Carlton V Bulldogs?

    Would appreciate it.

  • Yeah that is a link for the web !!!!! Don’t be a tight ass nothing’s for free these days

    • Fair call, but foxtel is a well overpriced. They charge more now than they did BEFORE they had ads :S

I will just use it as an excuse to walk to my local to watch it ;)

At least regular season there will be some games on free to air

    • There are free links to watch footy on the web you know?

Thanks for being no help at all and just being sarcastic.

    • Pretty sure there’s hours and hours of sport on free to air tv every week including golf, tennis, cricket, basketball, NFL, motorsport etc etc AND regular season AFL matches. Nothing for free eh?The AFL are the tightasses by selling what is essentially a preview set of games to a pay tv channel where in every previous year it has been on free to air. If you expect people to fork out overpriced subscriptions just to get a look at what amounts to vfl footy then you’re a fool. I’ll watch replays on the AFL website and spend my money on the worthwhile things in life. Have you donated any money to a charity recently or does that cut in to your beer money tightass?

  • What does everyone read into Scott’s comments about HMAC? Also, If you’re going 1 gun 3 rookies in rucks, who’s a good 4th ruck?

    • I don’t really read anything in that to suggest Hmac will be rested a lot during the season unless of course his fitness is not 100%

Because Hmac can push forward effectively and was #1 before Goldy broke out last year I see no reason not to select him at the moment

  • What’s peoples thoughts on these bye rounds !!!! Round 11 looks ok for me at this stage but round 12 looks a war zone!!!! Round 13 not to bad either .

  • Not sure what I was thinking…all that raving about Sloane…he is definitely rubbish. Should def not be on anyone’s radar.

    Trade him

Danger field however, what a star, 100k cheaper and DPP, definitely jump on him.

My advice everyone, Sloane out Danger in…. Definitely take my advice.

    • :-)

    • Stand firm with your team..hard to do when the likes and temptations of Dangerfield, Masten, et al play a good one.

    • On that note, I’ve heard Higgins is looking great this pre-season and could get some more midfield time this year. At his price, he has to be a lock.

  • I have a conundrum: Sandilands and Christenson Or Goodes and Hmac?

    • How about making your own decisions?

    • That’s hard.
      HMac and Goodes I say.
But if Christensen gets games… Well.
Just monitor during Pre-season and go from there!

  • Please, everyone jump on HMac! Sure, he looked good last night, but you’re kidding yourself if you think he’ll be getting that much ruck time in the season proper. Historically ruckmen dominate when they have no competition and get the ground time (Jacobs, Goldy, McEvoy) but fail as soon as there is any competition (Paddy Ryder a couple of years back, and plenty of other examples that I can’t be bothered to find).

Mark my words, he will average 60-70. But jump on, the less competition I have for the car, the better.

    • yep agree the more the better

    • Ok, I’ll jump on.

      Hmac will average 80.

    • LOL yeah, one player makes/breaks a season. You’re forgetting Hmac is a former premium ruck. There’s every chance he’s bouncing back from injury to his true form. You may be right, but to base ANY prediction of season form on the back of one game is dumb, with a capital D. My advice to everyone is forget about tinkering with your team (even though I won’t be able to do the same!) and simply add guys to your watch list. I mean does anyone seriously think that their rd 1 team will look anything like their current set up? Mine certainly won’t.

Hmac is every chance to smash it up this year. It’s just to early to tell either way.

      • Well, my reasoning is that i’m much more likely to win the car if people jump on HMac and he spuds it up, not necessarily that having him will define a coaches season. Seems like simple logic to me. Shit, I started with Thornton last year and still managed to come 23rd overall, so don’t paint me as one of the naive ones who think that 1 bad choice kills a whole year.

When Macintosh was a premium (and I do remember the days) he had very little competition for the rucking duties. It’s completely different now, and my opinion is that he won’t go back to his glory days. If you don’t like the advice, don’t take it mate, simple.

        • I completely agree man. No Hmac for me…I was attacked earlier in the day for thinking so. There is just no way he’ll average anything above 70, he wont get enough time in the ruck. Simple as that. Who cares if he used to be a premium, that was then and this is now!

          • As well as being cheap (the main reason he’s in discussion anyway) he definatly has the potential to ave 80+ I personally will have to see him smash it again at least once or twice before he is a lock.

          • Good to see Benetration wont be having HMac…..

It’s like starting off with a +4 head start in my league allready…..

          • @MagpieMayhem Is 80+ good enough in 2012 though?

        • my opinion is you wont return to your glory days big mac locked

        • If you have the aggots to run with him and he goes ok without injure by round 6-7 he will be worth 400,000 ish ,lets just say he is in the same category as grimes, porp, volt and a few others.

        • ROFL “If you don’t like the advice mate don’t take it, simple” Firstly, I never actually disagreed with you. Hence the part of my comment that stated: “You might well be right”. Secondly, it’s a bit sad that you seem to be getting butt hurt at the thought of someone disagreeing with you. This is a forum after all. Thirdly, did Hmac not ruck in the same team as Goldy and Petire today? Uhhh yeah I think he did. What happens if Hmac continues his form and spits out 2 more triple figure scores? Also your assertion that if everyone jumps on Hmac and he spuds it up means your closer to the car is retarded. What happens if you jump on a player like a Beams, Heppell or whoever and they spud it up? What happens if Hmac Rips it up? Noone has a crystal ball douche bag.

All I was saying and I’ll repeat it again is, to make such a call after ONE perfomance is dumb. If someone rips it up, and is relatively cheap and has a history of being a premium then perhaps it might be a wise move to CONSIDER that player, no?

Good luck for the season mate, just don’t get too upset if someone disagrees with you, or at least you perceive that they’ve disagreed with you. This is a forum for discussion after all.

          • Think he may be bluffing to get more people of Hmac. He has been a lock from the start and has done nothing to change my mind.

We all have a few picks we want to hide or throw smoke over. Not saying that is being done here but 1 man’s opinion shouldn’t sway yours.

          • Arguable whether that was me being upset, seemed like a pretty civil response to me. But that was a real mature reply mate, congratulations.

And if a large group of people choose HMac and he spuds it, its obvious that I will in fact be closer to the car….you honestly can’t argue that point.

            And no, I’m not bluffing.

    • No worries, thanks for the advice mate. Locked :)

  • jeremy Laidler just popped his knee (yes thats possible) looks disgusting :(.

On a better note Hargrave and Boyd killing it :)

    • I remember years ago watching Cresswell smash his kneecap back in vs Geelong after he popped it to the side. That was f#&king tough!

      • I remember that also Pittbull I have actually done it a few times myself playing footy and water skiing little did he know if he straightened his leg you will push it back in with your little finger.
faaaaarkin painful though, not a pretty sight seeing your knee cap on the otherside of your leg.

    • I expect Boyd to,

But Hargrave! wow, he’s got a spot in my team for now.

  • I didnt see the Pies/Dees game. Yagmoor > Clarke, can anyone comment?

    • hard to tell, still reckon clarke is better. Round 1 teams need to hurry up :)

      • I have both those guys in my team but am having second thoughts on both. Yagmoor will be the easiest decision based on how he goes for the remaining nab cup games and whether he gets named for round 1. Hard to know what Buckley’s thinking is on 1st year players, particularly 18 year olds.
Marty Clarke on the other hand looked lost on Saturday night. Sure, we’ve seen the skills he has particularly by foot, but he’s been out of the game for a couple of years now and will need plenty of time to get back to where he was. I’m not convinced he’ll get a gig in round 1.
I’m looking at other options for the moment.

        • I agree about Clarke. He seemed unable to keep up with the game and didn’t even look particularly fit; must’ve been in a good paddock back in Ireland.

  • Oh my welcome aboard Ryan Hargrave. Please don’t be a NAB cup tease.

  • Where can we find stats on all the NAB cup games from the weekend?? Shattered all the games weren’t televised on fox :(

  • Sandilands out with an unconfirmed injury, some tightness apparently.

    • Lyon just keeping the tackle in the pants until rd 1 starts.

Sandilands, Pav, Silvagni, Mundy, Barlow, with less than a full game from McPharlin, Fyfe, Griffin…..

  • Just came back from the Dockers game. broughton in the mids looked good!

    • Question is will he stay there? Given that Barlow and Mundy are to return, he may go back to his backline role.

If he can prove to me (and Lyon) that he can hold down the midfield role then he is back in for 2012

  • beau waters form west coast yes or no?
