  • Still no Chappy! disappointing!

  • No Horsley :(

    • The fact that there’s no Horsely is a good thing in one way.
Hopefully with a delayed start, he will be the perfect downgrade option in your mids before the tricky round 11 bye. Assuming you already have 2 mids (ie Boyd/S.Thompson/Rocky) who have this bye, having players like Horsely/Wingard (who have the round 13 bye) in your team is crucial to minimizing potential donuts in round 11.
The boys posted a cracking article earlier in the year on this very topic.

Also there are plenty of other high scoring rook mids to choose from at this stage. The BIg Feller need not stress ;)

      • please comment him

      • Good point Justin, although given the right circumstances, I’d be happy to forgo an extra 40K in price maturity and harvest them a couple of games earlier if needs be. After all, *most* of a good rooks price growth occurs in the first 6-8 games they play.
For this scenario to work In a perfect world, McDonald gets downgraded to Horsely (on the eve of his 3rd productive game) at about round 7, giving Horsely about 7 games to jump in value before you upgrade him to a gun (using the McDonald cash as well don’t forget) who has already had their round 11 bye.
If I’m travelling well for trades, this is one strategy I’ll be using mid-year. But that’s just me, and it’s not for everyone ;)

  • I’m still not happy about the absence of Allen Christensen… He’s not a lock yet in my team, I need to see him out there giving me hope otherwise my 330K will go to waste!!!

Kyal Horsley also absent again… I’ve already shuffled him off for K. Lucas now so bad luck Kyal.

    • Interesting. Scott said that Christensen would play this week. Perhpas there is something we don’t know?

      • HAS ANYONE SEEN HIM IN A MOON BOOT or in hospital?, everyone seems to have ‘quiet’ injuries lately. Well if he doesnt play in the nab cup i aint picking him for round 1.

    • Im happy about it. I trust my judgement from last season. The worst thing that could happen is he plays NAB smashes 100+ and everybody jumps on board.

    • Apparently picked up a niggle at training. Monitor in these coming weeks.

  • Tasty…SMJ, Selwood and Smedts.

    • Who is SMJ?

      • the one and only GARY ABLETT JNR = SWEET MERCIFUL JESUS :)

      • get a brain morans

      • I am Baffled…

        • Steve ‘Magic’ Johnson…

          • You guys who have been here 2 MINUTES and are abusing people who have been on this site for quite some time, clearly DO NOT know what you are talking about.

Albett Lloyd you should know better, what’s with that.

the one and only GARY ABLETT JNR = SWEET MERCIFUL JESUS = SMJ

            for the uninitiated !

ask TKOL , i’m correct and the rest can please themselves with their highschool antics.

          • Stevie J isn’t even playing for those that took the time to read the team sheet .

            (shake of head)

          • May be uninitiated and new g bunger but smj is a stupid name 2 mins or not and thou shall not dictate to those who may agree in 2 mins on this site wasn’t hard to work out you are a tosser mind you.ps good luck for season hero

          • SMJ is the perfect name for him. Show some respect child. Sheesh.

            Kids these days hey…..

          • It was come up with by TKOL last year. Sweet Merciful Jesus is the Son of God, ie. Gary Ablett Jnr. You know his old man played for Geelong, kicked 1000 goals, went by the nickname God, retired about the time you were a twinkle in your old man’s eye…

          • say what you like nickname is shit imo with a name like pitbull im guessing you have a small penis and duckcarey well at least you are a north man and yours will come in dt kangaroos look fwd to beating your sorry ass

          • It’s Pittbull with a double T which is a play on words due to my surname – just like tbetta spells better as a play on words with his name. If you are going to try and insult me at least have the decency to spell it correctly.

            Dickhead.

        • Get a Brain! Morans is an exploitable photograph of a man seen at a protest outside a Boeing plant in St Charles, Missouri in 2003. The infamously misspelled sign came to embody the “proud to be ignorant” stereotype sometimes placed on midwestern or southern Americans.

And the sign said “Get a Brain! Morans”

    • FFS I mentioned the letters ‘SMJ’ just a player’ that’s all mind you the best player in the comp IMO.

I’ve seen cleaner shit get flushed down the dunny @ my local (and my local is a shit tip BTW) then what I’ve read on here lately.

      • Brapp , have a look at Team Version 3.2 and have a read of what I wrote , i’m in total agreeance with you and i’m sure you will be with me…

        • Before you even replied to this I’d replied to your post, check the time thing… But yeah, same page, chapter and novel brother.

  • Im looking at the players who you havent highlighted now after yesterdays article form adzman!

  • Hmm GC currently paying $4.50 to win… I know it’s off DT topic but by looking at the squads and that it’s being played at metricon i’m thinking taking a punt on GC to win this might be worth it…

    • You, are a brave man. You have to be in it to win it!

    • I’ve never understood why betting is even opened up on the NAB, the teams are just so random, the betting agencies are opening themselves up to a few floggings.

    • Better off giving that money to charity…

  • Anyone who has Zac Smith don’t worry. I am sure that he will pray to God (the invisible man in the sky) and God will help him play better.

  • Interesting that GC are continuing to play O’Meara. Kinda makes me think there aren’t many spots up for grabs in their best team at the moment.

    • giants…….you have been around here long enough to know what the Nab is for, I assure you the Suns have 40 players ready for action.

      • Sure, I was just thinking that if you were one of those 40 and you weren’t getting the chance to prove yourself because they’re playing a kid who’s not even allowed to play this year, it doesn’t exactly bode well for your chances.

  • Interesting…Only 7 players from Geelongs 2011 premiership team + 22 n00bs

  • All squads are on the AFL website now. Notable names missing who had good Round 1s are Bugg (GWS) and Skinner (WB). Also no sign of Shiel or Treloar, does anyone know how serious their injuries are? Looks like we may have to look elsewhere for starting rookies.

  • Warnie, why do you keep posting teams up? Now I have to add Rowe again and remove Bugg. Swan should be in red.

  • WTF is the point of playing in mandurah they r gonna have a crowd of like 10 pissed off about that……. Guess port will feel at home tho

    • Someone has to look after the Mandurah bogans and if you are going to do it you have to use port since they less supporters than mandurah has pregnant juvies?? Am i right??

  • Looks like Christensen is having the general again…

    • As mentioned above. Heard he picked up a slight niggle at training. Monitor closely over these coming weeks in lead up to rd 1.

  • I’m keen to see if last week’s ‘heroes’ like Weedon, Couch and Manger can back up. They are on the precipice, they could leap straight into the dubious honour of being named a Goaled Finger, or be discarded like a Tigers membership in round 5!

    • Why does it take to week 5? Normally after round 1 (appreciate first 5 games are tough this year but those supporters will be long gone by then).

I have noticed all the tiger supporters around the office firing up again, as usual at this time of the year.

Now claiming finals football and brownlow winner for this year.

They are a positive group for what they have been through in last decade. I expect once they hit rock bottom in round 5 they will start to turn their season around (hope so for their supporter).

  • You forgot to highlight Chris Masten HUGE scores this year!

    • +Juan

    • Currently have him as my 5th mid as a unique pick.

        • He’s been fit and firing in the pre season for 3 years now, unfortunately that still doesn’t change the fact that he can’t play football…and he has the 2nd shittest haircut in the afl…and he is the shittest bloke in the afl. Actually no one should pick him just on the principle that he is a massive dickweed.

          • Murt, he may have shit bloke syndrome but this is DT where all that counts is the highest score. There are a lot of people (new this year) on this site that hope to go through these comments to find a nicely priced player for their team. Masten is that player this year

          • You know him personally do you?
Why is he such a shit bloke? did he steal your mrs or something

I’m an eagles supporter and he is a big pain in the ass to watch because as you said he has terrible decision making and kicking skills but I don’t get why everyone always says that he is such a shit bloke.

For all you know he could be allright to have a few beers with

          • I too am an eagles supporter. I don’t have anything against him, I was responding to the above comment re: shittest bloke. I hope he carves up the opposition this year and was right when he said they can take out the premiership. Hell I’ll buy him a carton if he brings home the Norm Smith with it

        • Them’s fighting words, Sloane will play 22 and ave 92 according to my very cheap crystal ball.
Masten will struggle to pull 18 games together and won’t beat Sloane’s 92 ave.

Normally kids would say ‘thoughts’ now….

          • @ Pitbull
You make a fair point but personally i wouldn’t pick him due to the fact that he has been touted as the big mover for the Eagles the last 2 years and has gone no where with his terrible decision making and disposal keeping him out of the team, i don’t see that changing this year and believe there is too many young good midfield options at WC for him to string together a full season…
i could be wrong but thats my opinion.

          • stop telling people not to pick him ;)

  • Now this will probably get me in trouble but Redvest, no disrespect mate but not really worried about the FIGJAM Maggets Squad ( Collingwood).

  • Warnie, Aaron Black not highlighted? Thought u might keep an eye on him. Kid bagged 6 goals on the weekend!

  • cant wait for this weekend, some real normal scores that show how good they really went pointwise. Was going to look at Ebert from port a big closer but not named.

  • Massive watchlist for me! Good times ahead :)

  • Any news on Tapscott? Hasn’t lined up yet and can’t find that he is injured….hmmmm…maybe he and Christensen have eloped

  • Is it just me or is Carltons squad the exact same?

  • Now before everybody jumps on board. I know this is DT Talk.

I am looking for a supercoach league or two and an Ultimate footy draft league as well.

    Anybody help?

  • Sorry, but I haven’t been on the site for a while, so can someone answer me. Is this weeks Nab Cup four, 20 minute quarters or is it the same as last week.
    Thanks

  • Anyone know what’s going to happen with Collingwood’s ruck dept. this year now that Leigh Brown has retired? Where is Cameron Wood? Will Ceglar take the Brown role or are they hoping Mcnamara or Keefe can step up? Surprised that there’s been little talk about Jolly as a DT pick – he’s had a great pre-season from all reports and doesn’t have a lot of competition at the pies for DT scores as the only recognised ruckman.

  • No-one has mentioned it yet but Missy has slid into a game under the radar

  • Interesting to see that Bugg is missing this week. Townsend was very impressive last week so it will be good to see how he goes. Also will be keeping an eye on Byrnes.

  • can anybody give me an update on christensen?

  • Possibly the biggest croc of shit forum iv read on this site?

  • Anyone else think there is way too much irrelevant preteen banter going on recently?

Can we get back to talking footy!?

    • this is a dating site right?

      • Thanks, you just made me spit out a bit of my UP&GO.

        • I noticed there’s been a couple of Thai girlfriend adverts on the front page every now and then. Could be part of the confusion?

    • Talk footy mate no one is stopping you

    • unfornunately you are correct and Warnie and the boys seriously need to have a good look at what is happening far too often now , as you said I thought we were suppose to be talking about football ??

      • It wasn’t that long ago people were moaning about the amount of repetitive questions and constant posting of teams. Last weeks action is all talked out, the footy talk will return once this weeks games kick off.
I think some people just like to have a weekly moan for the sake of it.

        • Yep, gotta shave tonight, cook dinner and play with the future GAJ or Judd all before the Fox is cranked loudly. All good though cause once the footy’s on tonight it heaven…Ohh I live in Adelaide too so have Clipsal 500 ‘mate time’ Gonna be a stomping weekend…

  • Would appreciate any news re Trent Cotchin – injured?

  • I thought about writing something insightful but decided after reading the childish antics tonight , you’re on your own…

  • Anyone know why Robinson’s missing…again?

  • G-Bangers, what’s the problem?
The boys that run this excellent site do so with a perfect mix of information and entertainment. They throw in some light hearted mock-articles and song parodies among the plethora of DT gold they provide.
If you are all about ‘maturity’, then why call yourself G-Bangers? clearly you like to pull the stick out of your arse from time to time?!
I like a laugh, I love my DT and I am forever in debt to the DT Talk boys for their hard work in running this site.
IF they have a problem with these forums being used for the odd joke and immature laugh, they can (and no doubt will) say so – and if they do I will cease immediately, no questions asked.
Personally, I’d think they’d have more of an issue with the dickheads that insist on typing “first” on every thread. But even then, what’s it hurt? Ignore it and move to the posts you want to read.

    • The great ‘G-BANGERS’ has asked for less childish antics and more maturity! All hail the great and mature G-BANGERS!

    • Aye. Don’t worry about it G-Bangers. People were making sense before the NAB Cup and they will make sense after the NAB Cup too. Most people who are serious about DT have pretty much sorted their teams after R1 of the NAB and will only tinker here and there as injuries come to light. I don’t think you can expect many people from here on to want to talk about the footy at all until their teams are locked. In the meantime, appreciate that Warnie, Tbetta, Rainman, McRath and others (sorry for not mentioning you) are willing to devote their time and energy to generate such discussion.

    • Good call Finger

The posts whinging about the immature comments are just as annoying to read since they seem to pop up on every thread

Yes there are idiots everywhere, we know that, you don’t need to keep whinging about it, just ignore it and move on.

hmm by posting this comment I guess I am doing the same thing…… I guess everyones a hypocrite hey

  • Hi ya peoples,

can anyone tell me where i can find a listing that states what rookies are eligible to play come round 1 and which ones would likely to be upgraded to senior lists later in the year?

    any help would be appreciated.

    • that is if such thing exists.

      • You can view the senior and rookie lists for each club on each club website. After that I think the best you can do is read up on which clubs can elevate rookies. From memory I think Port can do 1, Bombers and Demons 2. Watch out closer to the season for news on elevations. Last year Ed Curnow was elevated 9 days before round 1, it was reported on the afl site

  • hey guys im new to the site, magner looks the goods after playing 2 very good nab cup matches and will hopefully nail down one of the two spots on the senior list and because hes a mature age player hopefully that will increase his chances, hopefully he can get in 10-15 games this year and will most probably hold down a spot on my bench,

can i please have some thoughts on backline rooks i am looking at darley, bugg, spurr and ellis. can you please help me out

    • Welcome to the site Nick.
Matey, the way he’s performing, if or rather when he gets elevated, he may well be worth a spot onfield.

Your on the right track with back rookies, they’re harder to get right, try and watch as many Nab games as you can.

Morris (rich) Baugley (ess)are a couple others.
      Good luck & happy DT’ing
