Join me and special guest Luke from the Ball Boys in the next head to head battle between value premium midfielders Jack Steele and Touk Miller. We discuss each player in depth and talk about their pros and cons, give our verdict on who we would pick out of the two players, and if we are keen on starting either player in our side.
Jack Steele
Injuries really hampered Jack Steele in 2023, with a number of different injuries throughout the year limiting him to just a 97.9 average from 20 games, which includes games where he was managed and even injured in game, but that means he comes in much cheaper than what he would normally be. In the two years prior, he averaged 110.7 in 2022 and a massive 121.9 in 2021. After he had ankle surgery in the off season, if he can put those injuries from 2023 behind him, he could be the underpriced midfield premium that we look for every year, add to that he also doesn’t have an early bye.
Touk Miller
Been know as one of the iron men of the competition, Touk Miller hasn’t missed many games due to injury, but suffered a knee injury in Round 6 against North Melbourne on 48, and didn’t return until Round 17. When he came back, he wasn’t able to find much rhythm, only scoring 3 tons in his last 7 games. Because of this, he comes at a discount in 2024. In the two years prior, very similar to Jack Steele, averaged 109.8 in 2022 and a massive 122.1 in 2021, the highest averaging player that year, just ahead of Steele. Normally he would be locked into a lot more sides, but he has the Round 3 bye, which means it could be tough to start Touk in our sides when there are plenty of midfield options in the mix for our sides.

Thanks for discussing these ‘fallen’ premiums. I’m struggling to fit more than a couple of the most expensive premiums into my team so Touk and Jack are definitely two guys I’m looking at
