My team has not done anything much this season, ranked just over 12000, but I have had two very good games in the last two weeks, beating Jungle Muffin and The Chosen Won. Hopefully Baz joins the team this week.🤞
If Baz plays.
Hahaha, was going to say, chin up you had a good win this week!
Not surprised to see TCW was an easy win for you either 😂
Even multiplying his captain score by 4 he still falls just short.👍🤣
Enjoyed the podcast.
Sounded like you did not want any complaints from a team ranked 35000 about the game going too quickly during bye rounds and 3 trades. Well shamefully I am about at that awful rank but not complaining about the 3 trades as I might have a chance of getting a better performing team and can finally address some of my problems that date back to round 1. But I think its very unlikely that I will improve my rank much even though I’m doing the butter mouse strokes.
After having about 7-8 of the first 10 rounds being cruelled by 1 or more injured premiums and sub premiums per round there is pretty much no way that I can catch up to teams that were able to have a better early run and strategically position their team to be well ahead in points and dollars. Yes, everyone cops injuries from time to time but it does not necessarily even itself out in number and timing. The crucifix of the competition comes early.
So looking at all of this I think the question is: “How can the competition be constructed to prevent teams that are virtually out of contention through little fault of their own after a few rounds” without speeding the game up too much as this seems to be the fear.
I think the answer has something to do with having access to 3 trades for a fixed number of times a year. Your choice and your strategy as to when you use your allotment of 3 trades per week. How many allotments for debate I guess.
In addition to this I personally dont think that more than 2 trades per week at any time ruins the competition. There will always be healthy variation in choice and selection.
Please consider solutions to teams being out of contention after only a few rounds through injury, HIA, personal leave, 5 day management and management generally on top of the obvious weekly selection issues.
I think if this can be solved there will be a much more enjoyable and healthy competition throughout the year-more happy punters(coaches) means more engagement in AFL.
Good luck to all for the rest of the year. Be heartened that if you get a few injuries at once at this time of year, whilst not ideal, at least you have a good chance of staying in contention with a 3 trade solution as of next round 12.
You really know how to dribble
RDT had a similar set-up with the Boost Trade, with limited Boost trades per season. It could work along those lines. My team is in the same shit, Shipwrecked..
So how is your DMRFU?
Mid Season Byes……………..DMRFU
12: Adel, Suns, North, Port.. 12030
13: Giants, Richmond………. 11001
14: Coll, Carl, Hawks, Freo… 24010
15: Bris, Syd, Ess, WCoast… 32110
16: Dogs, Cats, Saints, Melb 11230
DMRFU = def, mid, ruck, forw, util having the bye
Good way to look at it but DPP makes things tricky as to where you put the number. I’m just looking at how many players I can field per round and how I might trade to adjust this along the way to try and get players I want to get. Getting the players you want to get is the key and also perhaps the most difficult item to work thru. The spread of total number of players per round and how many good scorers per round is probably more important than how many you have in any one line I think.
I agree. Just need 18 premium scores per week, where they come from doesn’t matter The position mix only really matters for rookies, and they’re being sold off anyway.
I think it’s important to factor in the maximum of 2 on the bench per position. You don’t want 3+ zeros per line.
You haven’t explained why.
3 byes from the same line shouldn’t make a difference if you’ve managed your team decently, as your D/F7 or M9 shouldn’t be outscoring a premium from another line.
The forward line is the only exceprion, due the options being trash, and it’s not worth the pain of missing out on the few worth having just for the sake of prioritising additional rookie coverage that is marginally better and likely won’t impact your score at all.
