Roy’s look at some of the Fantasy relevant names from Sydney v Carlton and whether we should include them in our Fantasy teams… (feel free to add your takes in the comments).
Errol Gulden (MID, $1,073,000)
SCORE: 126 (82% TOG)
PRICED AT: 102.3
Had a slow start and it was hard to pinpoint his role until he was unleashed as a pure mid in the third quarter and went bang with one of the more dominant and game changing performances. He had 27 disposals and 11 tackles and is set for a massive year. Well worth selecting with his bye.
Jai Serong (MID, $274,000)
SCORE: 72 (84% TOG)
PRICED AT: 26.1
Played his way into our sides on the back of a great performance as a defensive winger, collecting 78% of his ball in the back half on his way to 19 disposals, two marks and five tackles. Certainly did his job security no harm.
Brodie Grundy (RUC, $1,122,000)
SCORE: 106 (79% TOG)
PRICED AT: 107
A 71 point second half reminded us that the ruck Pig has still got it and will pump out some huge scores this year. He amassed an impressive 46 hit outs to show he has no trouble leaping at the ball to go with 16 disposals and a goal. The second half gives me the confidence he is a starting option despite scoring less than last years average.
Justin McInerney (MID/FWD, $824,000)
SCORE: 122 (88% TOG)
PRICED AT: 78.6
There aren’t many forwards capable of pumping out scores like that and it will contribute to a nice price change given he put 40+ on last years average with 31 possessions and three goals. I was impressed with how much ground he covered, even pushing right back to D 50 for a couple of possies.
Sam Walsh (MID, $977,000)
SCORE: 99 (77% TOG)
PRICED AT: 93.1
Certainly saw enough to know Walsh is in for a big year. He looked outstanding and was tagged for periods but still managed to collect 32 possessions. The question is… Was that score big enough to take on a week two bye? I think he can be selected.
Jagga Smith (MID, $230,000)
SCORE: 82 (79% TOG)
PRICED AT: 21.9
Outstanding debut and consolidated a spot on our fields with an impressive 82 from 27 possessions. His role was great and his next three opponents will be much easier than that.
Patrick Cripps (MID, $931,000)
SCORE: 57 (80% TOG)
PRICED AT: 88.8
Sound the alarm! The skipper struggled and spent a lot more time forward than we are used to… To the point where DPP may enter the conversation. I thought he may be a value option after an impressive pre season, but we have to pass.
Ollie Florent (MID, $629,000)
SCORE: 85 (84% TOG)
PRICED AT: 60
Played a Fantasy friendly role across half back as the main distributor with 22 possessions and six marks. Assuming that continues, he is a sure thing to add defender status which may make him a nice late Draft pick.
