Will there ever be content to read on this website again? I am not sure why, but I refuse to listen to any podcast.
There will be, but we’re trying some different things. Habits have changed a lot for people over the years – especially the time commitments for us (that’s why Deck of DT had to go on hiatus this season) – but this includes reading. People are tic-toking… social posts, etc.
We’ll have more stuff coming, but these podcasts are ‘playing to our strengths’ and building the DT Talk feed. Gives a voice for a heap of people as we celebrate 20 seasons.
I reckon you should give podcasts a go! Get around it. Make them part of your day! There are some great Fantasy ones out there.
Thanks for the response. At this time of year I like to read everything I can fantasy. I don”t think not listening to podcasts is behind the times, but more personal preference. I go on the internet to read. Podcasts might be okay at this time of year, however when the footy does start again there are plenty of footy programs with ex-afl players for people to listen about footy. How much time will a footy supporter be prepared to listen to people talk about footy each day? Who are they going to prefer to listen to? When I go to a website I want articles.
Each to their own! We’ll keep producing stuff across here, AFL website and our Patreon (as well as social). Our podcast listens do pretty well – especially against these ex-players. I won’t go into big noting there, but we have one of the most downloaded footy podcasts.
And most of the podcasts are too long so I don’t listen to them
There’s a lot to read in the Playbook! We put a significant amount of time and effort into this.
We’re also writing heaps on AFL site at the moment.

They are far too long. That’s why I swipe to halfway through the recording, which is when they actually start talking about football.
That’s the beauty of podcasts – and most content to be honest – is that you can pick and choose. I guess the latest podcast series isn’t necessarily for you or others by the sounds of it. I wanted to include people who have been part of the 20 season journey of DT Talk, a chance to hear about their fantasy story as well as a look at some players from their club who are on their Fantasy watchlist.
We’re still over a month from the first lockout. This was something to keep us going through to the match sims.
Head to afl.com.au/fantasy for all the stuff we’re paid to create that you get for free. Podcasts that are pretty much all footy. Articles there cover a fair bit.
fuuck me you blokes are a bunch of whingers. Just appreciate the content for once you ungrateful turds
I agree but they mark the different sections so you can pick and choose what you listen to and the help a lot.
Plenty to read on Zero Hanger
This place used to be a valuable resource at the this time of year in seasons gone by, but it’s like a ghost town these days. The comparative lack of posts in the My Team section is telling.
Speaking with a lot of the veteran fantasy community guys I know, they don’t have time to to trawl through the endless podcasts for relevant content, and don’t bother coming here anymore for that reason. Also, for going back and referencing info when building our teams, we find podcasts are far too impractical compared to written content.
Not a whinge, just my observations from conversations with other rusted-on fantasy players, so this may just be a generational thing. Each to their own I guess!
I agree with you andy, seems like a change of authority is required. Think the traders are cooked quite honest.
Hi Andy. Thanks for the comment. Not being able to do Deck of DT has hurt the amount and quality of content on the website which would be wrapping up today if we went with the Jan 1 start (or last week if it was the Boxing Day start). This was generally the only content up until this point of the season.
My Team has been dying a slow death and we’re seeing that now. Even a few rounds into lasrt year, it was getting a dozen or so comments throughout the season. We’ve been doing this a long time and have seen the evolution of user habits. Social media is where people are discussing things. The advent of Discord (and similar) is where conversations are going. Unfortunately they’re not happening on websites as much – see once popular forums as well…
We might just shelve the My Team post. I note that you hadn’t posted since pre-season 2020, but I appreciate you visiting and lurking. Commenting can keep things ticking along. I guess you and your rusted-on mates are doing what I’ve mentioned above, taking conversations away from websites.
As for content, we’ll have regular stuff coming through here with key pieces as we have done in the past. If you follow our work at afl.com.au/fantasy, you’ll see that has ramped up significantly in the last couple of years with not only the quantity, but quality – something we are super-proud of. Couple that with our Patreon, where we offer bonus content for subscribers (note: this website actually costs us money… ad revenue doesn’t even cover server costs anymore).
Anyway – we’ve got plenty of written stuff coming and there is a monster backlog throughout the work we have done since December on the AFL site, over the last month on Patreon… and through podcasts (I know that it can be easier to read stuff, etc… but production is much more efficient – and the numbers are very strong in that form).
Cheers,
Warnie
Thanks for the reply Warnie. Us grumpy old campaigners struggle with changes at times, but I fully appreciate how much work would have gone into the content and there’s only so many hours in a day. After a long time lurking, I’ll give your patreon a go and am looking forward to the content in the pipeline. All the best for the coming season mate! Cheers

Is Blakiston an option fairly cheap and should do majority of the rucking for the first six seven rounds.
I like ke your forward line, looks good, Pickett, Rachele, I’ve got the others, might have to look at those. Cheers Herb
